Let's hope tonight is a clean show...

Thanks for speaking out on this, Rob. I've seen some pretty bizarre crap in my time, but nothing like this absolutely brainless, thoughtless self-centered act of complete disregard for others. I don't care how fucked up anybody is; people are ultimately responsible for their own actions and this guy needs to be held accountable by the community... not just the DSO community, but certainly his constituents as well.

I was about ten feet in front of Kevin and they guy barely missed me (I ran into Kevin getting dinner last night and he said the band wasn't aware of it at the time); I've never seen a tightly-packed mass of people move so fast at one time. What a dipshit...

Anyway, thanks for two smokin' shows, Council Member  Golden Shower Boy excepted.

Jersey City Councilman Steven Lipski is No. 1 threat at Washington club

BY RICH SCHAPIRO
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

Sunday, November 9th 2008, 12:06 AM

A drunken Jersey City councilman was arrested for urinating on a crowd of concertgoers from the balcony of a Washington nightclub, police and club sources said Saturday.

Councilman Steven Lipski was caught relieving himself onto several revelers at the 9:30 Club during a concert by a Grateful Dead tribute band Friday night, club sources said.

"He was very drunk," the source said, noting that it wasn't the first time Lipski had caused a ruckus at the popular concert venue.

"We've dealt with this man before," the source added. "He's never peed on anybody, but he gets really belligerent and drunk."

Lipski, 44, was hauled out of the club about 9:50 p.m. after staffers spotted him in the act on the concert hall's second-floor balcony and called the cops.

The crass councilman, who is serving his second term in office since getting elected in 2001, was charged with simple assault, police said.

Attempts to reach Lipski were unsuccessful Saturday night. His aide, Irina Zaki, said the councilman was in Washington Friday night, but she had no knowledge of his arrest.

The lurid incident marks the second time in recent years that a Jersey City pol was caught with his pants down.

Photos showing Jerramiah Healy, still a councilman at the time, naked and passed out on his front stoop were widely circulated in 2004 days before he was elected mayor.

Rob - I totally agree with everything you said and more. This is an outrage to the rest of us loyal fans who are there because we appreciate the music and you guys and Lisa in general. Unreal F-in' Real! I had a similar experience at a Tragically Hip concert a couple years back at Darien Lake, NY. My wife was tugging on my arm and I didn't know why. She said the guy behind me just pulled out his thing and was pissing. Right down in the 100 level reserved seats. I was apauled. I went and got security and told them, and they weren't going to do anything about it. I told them either they take him out or I will, and trust me it would be better if they did. They did drag him out and that was the end of it. I was blown away to say the least. ...and this was early in the first set!!!
Is Daily News story legit? ? ? If so, once I read he was a political representative, I am even more bothered by it. Some people just don't deserve to be around normal people. I don't care if this is the first time or not, I sincerely hope he does not ever attend another DSO show period! I'm sure he can find other things to do. I hope once he came around from whatever he was on, he felt like shit. But, from experience in the past, these kind of people don't have any remorse. Unreal. this post just blew my day. Enough of my rant.
Peace, Bernie

Personally, I'm shocked and saddened by this. Anyone who has met Jersey Steve over the years knows that he is a good, kind, giving person. I can't imagine what got into him Friday night. As Alex said, this is so uncharacteristic of him. I'm certain he regrets and is embarrassed by this inexcusable act. :( And while I can fully understand peoples' outrage, I sincerely hope Steve seeks out help for any problems he may have.

He should consider not drinking anything with alcohol in it anymore and he may need a 12 step program to help him out ... :)

No worries!

The thing that keeps sticking with me - aside from the utterly disgusting and vile nature of the act itself - is that there were hundreds of people crammed into a relatively small space... I'm still amazed nobody got hurt in the rush to get out of the way.

He is a friend of mine, I wish the community would be there more for him...sad to see so many people bash instead of lift up or help.....
Do you really think a ban from the community would help??????

It was hard to believe this happened, but it goes to show you what alcohol can do to someone...again, way out of character for this kind man.
He is still my friend and I will be there for him however small or large I can...I encourage the rest of you to do so as well...
People make mistakes and party too hard....I know I have been there and I have made mistakes in the past..I'm sure some of you have as well....

Lift up, we must LIFT UP!!!

I keep thinking of the people below. I feel real bad for them. At the same time, I feel bad for the councilman. He needs help!
If your going to be there for him, please help into a detox and then possibly rehab. Councilman or not, he obviously has a problem. This is a disease, one that is cunning, baffeling and powerful. It will take the strongest down. I wish him lick in getting his life together.
