  2. I hear those two have now gotten on the bus. Tea inspired them last year to check out what this music and friendship is all about. They contacted me (being the elder statesman for the group) and after I sent them some music they insisted I take them to a D&C show. We had a good time but they complained the music was too slow for their taste. We will see them on the rail tonight at Bear Mountain. Peace and Love, Doc

  3. Not sure about this otherlove guy. I liked that sunny guy as long as the room wasn’t in my name. Goingbacktowhere didn’t go to many shows and went dark for a long period. Now this new character shows up. But he can’t be any worse than Tea squelching full volume as the cops climbed the stairs though. Stop singing bro. Not til the song is finished. Those 2 lady cops were not fans of us straight white males. If those 2 lady cops swung the other way we could have sweet talked them as opposed to keeping their hands on their pistols dealing with middle age guys who are obviously not violent threats. I think they mistook that singing for the cries of a tortured lemur. Not trying to be sexist but 2 lady cops together means a bullet is getting fired with any physicality. That was very strange. Never saw that before. I’m guessing they wouldn’t get the 4 large males fighting call but got the hotel drunken singing call.

  4. I loved your story. I will have my family with me. We look forward to this event. I need some light in the midst of the darkness. It will be good to dance and enter into open space to feel and just ride the emotions as they flow.

  5. The format has changed so much since my frequent log ons.....dont know how to navigate. But, I do know, this weekend and the thrill of it had me up at 4am this morning. Like Christmas when I was 6!! Who can sleep with the anticipation. Giving up Richmond for blk mountain. Cant wait to see so many faces. The past years have aged me faster than the touring ever did. Can not wait to hit the road, get up with the Carolina contingent, and shake some bones. Love that the music will never stop. Life long friends, familure faces, and good times. Hope many of yall are ready for some sweaty hugs, as age may being showing, but my dancing remains youthful, and the spark yall bring will defintely light this sun up. Ready to shine and orbit around you beautiful stars!! Vice versa!! F..n....love this stuff!! Copperfield ain't got nuten on this type of magic!! This magic is no illusion, and it's always there!! Safe travels all....ready to kick up some wood chips at blk mountain!! And.....dont camp at koa unless u want to be called a child, while your child is sleeping in a tent, just to wake up to find out he had chocolate chip cookies for breakfast!! He still remembers that, and how I got upset....but your friends gave them to me dad. Dont lie son, I'm not, and he wasn't. Will bring all three one day, but this trip, just me, myself and i....and that's plenty!!

  7. excellent show. Eaton seemed to really be into the show last night. He was pretty active on the stage. Eaton announced the loss of a close family member at the beginning of the show. Condolences to Eaton and thanks for playing through your loss. Also, it was the anniversary of Jerry's death and they said Matt Reynolds too. When I first got into the venue, I was a little concerned. Most of my area was sitting and I was actually asked to sit down. Took a bathroom break during Duprees and and when I came back, found a new spot with totally better energy. The energy kept gaining steam throughout the night until it seemed like the whole place was up and moving. I bounced around a lot and my favorite area was in the couple rows above the main aisle stage left. There was a good group of dancers in that aisle and security hassled no-one. Of all the DSO original setlists I have seen, this was my favorite. I don't like too many rarities in my setlists or mixing of eras. This setlist stayed pretty true to mid 80's thru early 90's. The first 3 to open the show (stranger/loser/minglewood) were stellar. Minglewood was downright nasty! Me and My Uncle was great. Strange rhythm to Big River. I think DSO put a completely original spin on Big River last night. A little slower and bluesier pace. Not sure if that was from a Dead styling of Big River, but don't think so. Wasn't too crazy about the Big River and it took from what is always one of my favorite pairings. Deal was smoking. Lots of gambling songs in first set to go with the Casino venue. Box of Rain is usually not a live favorite....but they killed it last night. Really beautifully played. Help/Slip/Frank was sick. Mattson tore up Franklin's. Franklin's was among highlights of the night. Terrapin was a monster! Dare I say......I think DSO is making me a fan of Truckin. Song never did anything for me until seeing DSO do it a few times recently. Great truckin. last night. Mission in the Rain was the highlight of the evening for me. Just gorgeous. Really thought that Eaton, Mattson, and Barraaco shined in so many moments last night. On the morning Jerry died I was camping on the Mississippi River during a cross country trip with my girlfriend. Being on the river that Jerry and the boys so often sung about really made it a special day for me. I remember sitting in my campground that morning and looking out on the river (somewhere in Minnesota) and feeling that I was meant to experience Jerry's death right there in that spot and moment, Very spiritual for me. DSO playing Black Muddy River on the anniversary of his death brought that moment back to me last night so vividly. Thanks DSO.

  8. The Scarlet>Fire, Estimated was spectacular! I thought the show overall was really good, though the venue may have been a bit too large for them - not sound wise, but crowd wise... I’m already looking forward to their next Richmond show (hopefully this fall/winter).
