the VIP costs rose dramatically. They will test the limits of supply and demand. Will be interesting to see if price impacts attendance. Of course DSO doesn’t set the ticket price and the promoter wants to max his profits, but there’s a price point to max and this may go above that and reduce demand too much. If nothing else, next years can’t go higher or casual fans will say no thanks and casual fans buy most of the tickets at shows.

Really wanted to go this year and even had my wife (non deadhead) talked into going until we added up the cost. I wonder if all the separate costs for ticket,  camping,  parking etc. Will just lead people to getting tickets,  staying at a nearby hotel and getting an Uber back and forth each day. Kind of kills the communal aspect. Damn I miss the days at the Ledges

  2. Over the holidays I was going through and listening to all the new years shows. The 71' show is one of my favorites. Last with Pigpen, that kick ass Dancin to start the festivities. Just a great show all around. Didn't realize that was the first Big River,  always a great first set dance-a-thon. Guess they decided it fit Bobby best like Promised Land,  I think it was the right call

congrats to Michigan. The big 10 needed that after the ultra poor showing so far vs the SEC. Tennessee dominated so badly they almost blew my under bet. If you didn’t know, betting the under in Iowa games was a winner all year and even the 2 lowest o/u lines in the last 20 years went under. Death taxes and Iowa on the under. Rare to see under 27.5 hit and that was the lowest line in a few decades vs one of the multitude of big 10 west scrubs. I think BS69 and I were lamenting our gambling habits b/c we were watching like the Iowa northwestern game that no football lover should ever watch and we really didn’t even have to b/c it wasn’t even close to going over. If you are an aspiring punter, you get to see in essence a seasons worth of punts in a single game. When you set punting records, the OC loses his job and will never get another OC job again.  Dude may be a QB coach or WR assistant but I can guarantee he’s never ever ever getting a head coaching or offensive coordinator job in D1 ever again. Power 5 experience. Check. Division champs check. Have to score 24+ a game to keep your job written into his contract. Nope. 16 a game.

I'm going to miss cashing in those weekly unders. Unlike SEC fans,  as a fan of tOSU I hope Washington crushes TTUN

  4. Saw today that the Dolphins are 0-3 against teams with a winning record. How has a team only played 3 games against teams with a winning record this late in the season? The Bengals have played 9 and have only played 2 games against teams with a losing record

The Tangled up in Dew was just fabulous!  Very thankful for the .Nugs stream - crystal clear!  I was recently lamenting the limited DSO live stream opportunities and was very happy to see this to come up.  Really fun show!

Yeah, great finish. didn't realize about nugs until i saw the video equipment. Place was packed because they didn't open the balcony for us regular  folk but I was able to maneuver into a good spot by the soundboard for the 2nd set.

Tangled up in Dew!  Believe It Or Not in the "pre-St. Stephen Reprise ballad slot" is an awesome twist.

Also cool to see both Hard to Handle and Box of Rain after the presumably (or at least very possibly) set ending Let It Grow

Yeah, thought the let it grow was going to be the set closer, what a nice surprise. It's a close the office door and turn on the tunes kind of morning.

James Brady is only oppressive if it’s packed. This place would be oppressive too sold out. This will be the show to go to on a Wednesday night. Should be dance room for days. It’s crazy how much Newport has grown up. That whole downtown area has been torn down and condos and hotels built up. I always wondered why Newport with a quick bridge to Cincy wasn’t the go to place to live if you work in downtown cincy as it’s the closest living area to downtown when most Cincy residents live 10 miles away.

fun fact: Newport used to be Sin City. They had illegal gambling and prostitution houses and the liquor stores are still open until 2:30 am. They have changed a lot but it’s where peeps go for booze late night in cincy

I'm going to try to sneak this one in, I've been crazy busy but desperately need a show. To Rude's fun fact, my daughter is getting married 2 weeks from Saturday and the reception is at the "Newport Syndicate", an old mafia hangout not far from the Newport venue. I should be able to make the Columbus show also after I get this wedding business in the rear view. When did weddings get so expensive?

  9. I'm in agreement with most others on here. I don't dislike them and I had a good time at the shows I went to. But I only saw them 3 times: the zoo show referenced by AC that was oversold, at Cincinnati Music Hall where the fire alarms were going off a couple songs in and they emptied the place,  then allowed everyone back in and at the Nutter center in Dayton around 94or5. Haven't seen them since.
