Viola Lee Blues is the best song of all time

I saw Phil Lesh & Friends perform Viola Lee Blues four times during the 2nd set on 7-10-01 in St. Louis. This show is in my top 10 shows of all-time. What an amazing night of music!! The Who

Going to the show in St. Louis in May. The WHO will be performing with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. It should be interesting to see the WHO with an orchestra. I last saw the WHO in 2016 on their 50th Anniversary Tour. Here's a video I shot of the WHO from the show in St. Louis on 3-26-16. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FVxsI990dUg

Thanks for the update on the balcony issue at the Pageant, Rob.

    St Louis

Let's face it, the Pageant is not going to open the balcony for a DSO show. I think staffing also has something to do with it, not just ticket sales. I think it's time for a change of venue for a DSO show in St. Louis. I would like to see the band play a show at the Family Arena in St. Charles, Mo. I saw an Elton John tribute band and a Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band tribute band at the Family Arena last summer. They only used half of the arena with the stage was set up in the middle of the arena with NO chairs on the floor. It made for a large dance floor. Yes, you would have to pay for parking ($10), but the lot would be perfect for a Shakedown Street. The tribute shows I saw there last summer were general admission seating. Way more room to shake your bones than the Pageant.

Chuck Berry's family announces St. Louis funeral plans St. Louis will have a chance to say goodbye to iconic rocker Chuck Berry next month, his family has announced. A viewing open to the public will be held Sunday, April 9, at the Pageant, 6161 Delmar Boulevard. Fans can pay their respects from 8 a.m. to noon. That will be followed by a funeral service celebrating his life, the family said in a press release, but that will be "for family, friends and musical friends" due to limited seating. The family said more details will be made public in the next few days. “I think it’s wonderful the family wants to give the public this chance to pay their respects,” said Berry's longtime friend Joe Edwards. Edwards, who owns the Pageant, Blueberry Hill and other Delmar Loop establishments, also acted as Berry's publicist. Berry, regarded as one of the most influential figures in American popular music, died March 18 at age 90 at his home near Wentzville. The singer, songwriter and guitarist was behind hits like “Maybellene,” “My Ding-a-Ling,” “Roll Over Beethoven” and his signature “Johnny B. Goode” was born Oct. 18, 1926, in the Ville neighborhood of north St. Louis.

The late Chuck Berry’s final album, “Chuck,” will be released June 16 on Dualtone Records, the record label announced Wednesday. The first single “Big Boys” is available for streaming now. The single includes Nathaniel Rateliff and Tom Morello. Other guests on the album include Gary Clark Jr., and Chuck’s grandson Charles Berry III. Author and historian Douglas Brinkley contributes liner notes. The set includes 10 songs, eight of which were written by Berry. It was produced by Berry throughout St. Louis with his longtime backing group of St. Louis players including his children Charles Berry Jr. (guitar) and Ingrid Berry (vocals, harmonica), Jimmy Marsala (Berry’s bassist for forty years), Robert Lohr (piano) and Keith Robinson (drums). Some of the tunes date as far back as the ‘80s, and Berry would tweak tunes in his home studio between touring dates.“Lady B. Goode” is a sequel to his immortal “Johnny B. Goode,” and features three generations of Berry guitarists. “Darlin’ ” is a duet with his daughter Ingrid Berry.“Working on my dad's record has been one of the best experiences of my life,” said Charles Berry Jr. “I will forever treasure the musical conversations we had, and the time we spent together completing it.”It’s his first new album since 1979’s “Rock It.”Here’s the setlist to “Chuck”:“Wonderful Woman”“Big Boys”“You Go To My Head”“3/4 Time (Enchiladas)”“Darlin’”“Lady B. Goode”“She Still Loves You”“Jamaica Moon”“Dutchman”“Eyes Of Man”

The discs haven't left my car cd player for three weeks. "Here Comes Sunshine" is worth the price of admission alone.
