The only time I saw them play with Dickey was at the palace theater in Louisville in 1993/94. I remember Derek trucks coming on stage to play a couple songs and think he was only 15 or 16 at the time.

The reason this is being even brought forward is the Taylor swift ticket backlash. Umm 1 million peeps were trying to get 50k tickets. Demand greatly overwhelmed supply but Ticketmaster is the villain. I’m no fan of Ticketmaster but the Taylor swift stuff was pure market capitalism at work. Likely 50% saw dollar signs with no interest in the concert wanting to get rich reselling as people who see 1 concert a year will pay anything. We decided against deadco at the Sphere out of principle. Not paying $350-450 for 1 ticket to 1 show. Just not doing it. Nothing is that important to me. I’ll go pop a $15 hyryder show up and back. As soon as we both saw those sphere prices we said naw. No view of the screen was $250. That’s the reason I’d care about even going is for the visuals. If I come in to $5 mil I ain’t spending 900 on a pair of tix for 1 night to any concert.

10 hours is a haul with no seat. I’d guess they are pretty liberal about reentry considering you need to eat something

Yep. Just saw this as fact. Sucks peeps won’t get their money back. Eek. I know lots of the Indy townies scrape up cash to travel once a year to see hyryder. This will sting those guys who used all their disposable money for the year to support their band. More locals who can shell out $15 for a show vs the Dso die hards who won’t miss the money like in town peeps who like seeing their fav band on a big national stage and this was a luxury. I assume most peeps are cancelling their flights and plans.

This was the 2nd total eclipse I’ve had in my back yard in 7 years. There’s not much like a total eclipse. Southern Illinois and western KY are in the x marks the spot double eclipse area even though this one was only 1:20 vs the 2:25 we had in 2017. The last few seconds before a ripple of light starts to move over the ground as all the light becomes from the flares. Then darkness out. At around 95% covered everything becomes surreal looking. A minute before it went total Jonathan wanted to look at it so had to take him inside to not get his corneas burned like the 500 people last eclipse. Your eyes don’t automatically close like with the sun out. But the 500 people with a tiny strip of sun burnt into their corneas after the last one will tell you don’t look. Once it went full brought him out to see. He’s a moon fanatic anyway. Any time a moon shows up in any movie you get the “daddy moon. Moon daddy”. Cheers. oh and you could see stars and planets during the full.

So I had to continue to bet UConn as they had covered every game. -11.5 vs Bama was a ridiculous spread and they still covered. Never saw anything like this in my life. 11 straight tourney games winning by 13+. They are favored over Purdue by 7. That’s nutty too but how could I get off them. The regret of not winning 6 straight UConn bets would overwhelm me. If they won by 4 vs Bama the spread wouldn’t be that high but eventually the spread becomes too much.

Dso plays several songs the dead never did in spots other than just filler. Oh darling is one. Also don’t think the Grateful Dead as that unit ever played take a letter Maria. I actually didn’t realize the dead played love the one your with in 83. It’s a lot of work learning the 1 off songs and if Dso does, they are gonna play them more than once

Well there’s a chance we won’t have anyone to take care of Jonathan. He’d love it at jubilee but he’d crash and burn at 9pm and be super pissed he couldn’t go to sleep. He’s slept through the night every night since 8 months. Epic sleeper. At the superbowl party we couldn’t find him. He went into the hosts bedroom and got in their bed to go to sleep lol. We’d love to share more with him but you don’t know our kid. Crazy independent. Does what he wants to do not what we want, not acting bad but he has a way he wants to play and we have to conform to his way. Hes not ready to chill yet. Hes ancy. Staying put isn’t for him. I don’t see him allowing his headphones so we’d have to go to the field. No way he’d let us go where the music sounds how we want it. It would be all about him all weekend and everything else would be secondary. You’re lucky MC with the older daughter which helps the younger ones follow her lead and gives them someone to play with. A solo wild man who just wants to dig holes and play in the dirt and put mud all over himself is awesome when we play at home but just saying you don’t really understand. He’s smart and knows it and is still in his terrible 2’s but with way more brain power. Jubilee would be so much work. I’m Mr mom all day Monday-friday 7a-9pm when I put him to bed. Good read. 1. Dso needs to play a show in drag to show their support!! 2. I just saw a Dso show on YouTube of redrocks 2022 with Barraco wearing a baseball cap. In all my shows I’ve never seen him wear anything other than the “trademark bandana” besides maybe a sock cap in extreme cold. 3. It took them long enough to get to DSO. They mentioned JRAD, grateful shred and the drag queen band Bertha before a few paragraphs later Barraco saving the article and steadying the authors proverbial hand, keeping it from being a fluff piece and giving it some depth. I think there were some thoughts not really said that the author thinks Dso needs to up their game by either going drag, maybe doing a few shows as the Donna’s where they all dress like Donna, or they dress like the dead. Depending on the eras of keyboards, Rob will have hair and makeup ready to turn him into Pig or Keith or Brent or maybe Bruce. Eaton just needs to stock up on pastel izods and get some vintage short short cutoffs.

Jonathan got his 1st and only show at 6 months but those were the epic drive in shows. We were pining for more of those as he could see set 1 then sleep in AC in the car set 2. Drive in shows. Drive in shows!!! Let’s hope your boy ain’t as cray as ours is. Yours has older siblings that can help luckily as he grows and he can follow their lead b/c if he’s as wild as ours, you’re not taking him unless you want to follow him everywhere b/c he won’t do anything we ask. He knows what he wants and knows what we want and they are usually opposite. He doesn’t say no. He yells it. He’s like bring on time out. Doesn’t phase me. He doesn’t walk. He dances around the store. If he’d just listen we could take him somewhere but he marches to the beat of his own drum. When he doesn’t want to go somewhere he hides my shoes and 2 days later they are found with the pots and pans. As you can see I can’t stop talking about him. He’s my world and everything else is just peripheral. It’s why missing shows isn’t a biggie to me. I ain’t missing jubilee. That’s our annual escape.

This Europe run is set up so much easier than last one. 2 and 2 with 2 days off allows you to enjoy Paris and London besides train, eat, show, sleep then train again repeat. You almost needed a tour bus with driver last one. At least DSO got to wake in the next city and be able to enjoy it all day as everyone else was driving or training.

I used to be like “drop this kids wherever and come join us”. Now I get it lol. had no sympathy when I couldn’t get buddies to do a run with us. “Hey it’s just 2 weeks. California blah blah. Can’t you just go through the day care drive thru and see them in a week?” I had back to back 36 show years. I thought it was more but not when I just checked. But we also did jazz fest and did 3-5 JRAD a year and 3-4 deadco. I don’t have that energy anymore. I think covid aged everyone several years. Took us out of the routines that kept us young and the older you get, you can’t take any off time or it’s hard to get back where you were.
