  1. I’m in for Carolina shows
  2. I’ve wondered before what a non or less than casual fan might think of some of my favorite songs and jams (believe it or not, Pride, Rueben, drums/space) and it looks like now I know. but if I walk through a balcony and see a group of people with their eyes closed, I will no longer assume they are having a blast but seriously, what were you expecting? It’s not a Taylor swift concert
  3. Agreed. I totally want the band to have revenue and the event to succeed, and Jubilee is the only festival I’ve been too where most years the VIP has more people than the general admission, so it makes sense they raised those prices. ill be there in May, looking foreword to some good music and that long trek pack in my camping gear in GA
  4. It may sound crazy, but for a moment I was on the fence for the first time in Jubilee history. I was thinking about the prices of VIP and then I thought about getting a cabin in the Adirondacks that same weekend for fishing and hiking for about the same cost. I was thinking how I’ve seen too many ‘76-78 shows from DSO and how it would probably rain. but then I realized I don’t get to see DSO enough. That when they play really well it never matters what the set list is, and they always play very well at at the Jubilee. I realized there are folks I only see at the Jubilee, and by May, my professional life is so busy I need to get away badly and listen to music. so I bought Gen admission tickets for the first time in years, and I’m excited to be returning. I’ve not missed a Jubilee yet, and I won’t this year either. See you in May. Hoping for weird set lists 🤠
  5. One of my most exciting moments in seeing DSO was seeing the first "Who Was John" in Covington in 2013. I also really enjoyed seeing electric "Big Iron" in 2012
  6. Im at a place where I’m less enthused by 1976-1978 setlists, so when I arrived & saw the set up and the Travis bean, I was a little bit let down (while also absolutely loving that Travis Bean tone, FYI). I decided to make the most of it, trying to place the show. When I head the Bertha>good lovin, I knew it wasn’t 76. When the three slow songs happened in the first set, I realized it had to be 1978. Why they ever needed three slow songs back to back, I don’t know, but DSO played them like consummate professionals. Eaton won me over with his slide guitar all night, and Barraco was playing really well. At set break I figured out it was 9/16/78, and wondered how the second set would actually go. it went fantastic! The energy grew and bounced between a great crowd and the band and it is in those moments I felt some lift off. it’s a reminder to me: no matter my headspace or what the set list looks like: when the band is playing well, it doesn’t matter what the set list looks like. I had a blast in Asheville! Thanks DSO!
  7. Listen to the stagger Lee on the original show 2/7/1979, then compare it to the stagger lee a week before. I’ve never heard Garcia so slow before or after. DSO did a fantastic job, but the set list they played was: Set 1: Don't Ease Me In ; Mama Tried > Mexicali Blues ; Jack-a-Roe ; Looks Like Rain ; They Love Each Other ; New Minglewood Blues ; Stagger Lee ; I Need A Miracle > Bertha Set 2: Scarlet Begonias > Fire On The Mountain ; Dancing In The Street > drums > Black Peter > Good Lovin' Encore: U.S. Blues Filler: Love the One You're With
  8. I just want to say thanks to the band, Tim Walther productions, and everyone of you I met up with-I had a spectacular weekend, one of my favorite Jubilees yet. The shows each night were perfect, the crowd was perfect, and that Waffle House in Jeffersonville, Ohio on the way back home to KY was perfect (as always-its the standard by which all WH should be judged). As long as Jubilee's continue, and as long as I can, I'll spend my memorial day weekend there. Thank you!
  9. My understanding is that if you are parking by day and staying elsewhere at night you do need to purchase the $25 car camping pass in addition to your regular ticket
  10. Actually I got home from my daughters theater performance and caught the second set from home ala streaming
  11. The drums & space really spoke to me…really well done
  12. My lovely wife will be singing backup for Lemongrass on Saturday so be sure to give any early dance moves you have to spare…see you soon 🤠
  13. I’ll take the heat. The cold rain can go away
  14. I remember Barraco fondly playing the Walrus during Phil tour 2001..always a good time
  15. In my Grateful Dead tape collecting and listening career, 1976 shows are my least favorite. They still are, but DSO covering them has made them waaaaay more interesting. Especially when Jeff plays the Travis Bean
  16. edit the comments about last years rains and multiple fests-I see that Rude already said that. I'm thinking its been less rain so far this year than last, thankfully
  17. I love that original show- I would have enjoyed seeing this one
  18. After I got off tour in 2001, I got married, had 3 babies, worked full time while full time getting undergraduate & graduate degrees and we had no family for 600 miles. Then as we worked our way into better jobs, we had many of the same experiences of no money or no time off that was allowed. All that to say: I totally get it. Even now, though I have more free time and flexibility, with my oldest about 20 & in college, my 14 & 16 year old are happy and healthy and still in school & participate in stuff that keeps us really busy. But I wish you luck on her time off for your mental health excursions, because trust me- I know how helpful they are
  19. I just got a room and a ticket for June 17 in Asheville. Haven't been to the Salvage station, looking forward to a post-Jubilee pre summer show
  20. When I was touring full time, Summer 2001 was my only time I really caught SCI. The summer tour tangled a bit with Phil's tour and I coordinated a few of their dates in the West/Midwest in the midst of Phil tour to make traveling easier. The SCI shows in Colorado & midwest in Summer 2001 were fun-the audience was really young and different than Phil tour, and we were some of the only vendors for many of those shows-not too unlike DSO shows.
  21. Last time DSO played the Taft Theatre in Cincy, this happened to me. The ticket itself was like $17, but the ticketmaster/live nation "FEE" was $25 or more. Insanity
  22. "There are many other great types of music I'd rather listen to than Phish or other jambands" Absolutely
  23. Totally agreed. Also, the entire jam band genre seems completely derivative of Phish
  24. Hope the Accuweather Jubilee prophecy comes true cause this has been the coldest spring I remember as a whole in quite some time
  25. I was a teenager listening to the Grateful Dead in the early 90s, and a friend suggested I might like Phish, since I liked “alternative” music and the Grateful Dead. I bought “A Live One”, and got some live shows on tape, like 7/25/92. I liked it causally, but the whole humor in music thing doesn’t do it for me, so if you play me guitar solos and jams, I’d prefer that. After the 1998 Further Festival/ The Other Ones tour ended in shoreline, I did a smattering of Phish summer tour dates making my way back east. Haven’t gone to a show since pretty much ambivalent but occasionally listen to select concert jams of theirs from 1992-1998
