  1. Same thing happened to me, brought to tears, right about the same time. Finding Dark Star Orchestra around some corner, where they,ve been waiting to meet me, got me back to where I belong, post Jerry.
  2. 12/15/86, first time played for both tunes
  3. So, isn’t the original show first time played for Black Muddy River and Push Comes to Shove? Somewhere about then.
  4. That’s the best review I ever read. Thank you, Desert Dead. I think.
  5. Dead did only a few shows there, 70, I think. Maybe a recreation of one of those shows?
  6. I wouldn’t come back. Let’s see, sell everything I own by spring, ….
  7. I think Green Bay’s coaching and game plan was key to the win. Coin toss helped too. Start the game with a long drive and a touchdown, Dallas is starting in a hole. Coming out of the half, Dallas had a couple of long sustained drives but they were already way down. Where’s the sense of urgency? There seems to be a weirdness to the NFL and how things turn out. Makes me wonder if the gambling isn’t having an effect on the league. Of course, working for Jerry Jones seems to be less than fun.
  8. My buddy swears by Space from Anchorage, 1980.
  9. I love that show. Interesting stage banter before Masters Bouquet, Bobby knows the tune and Jerry doesn’t. That’s a rarity in itself. I just listened to 12/26/79. My favorite era for space, about when I started, so have always referred to space as “dinosaurs on the moon”
  10. What did one casket say to the other casket? Is that you coffin?
  11. Hey, I guess you’re right. I never thought about an answer. I do believe that’s a Steven Wright observation, not mine.
  12. What would a chair look like if your knees bent the other way?
  13. China Doll acoustic many times over during the 1980 15th Anniversary shows, Warfield/Radio City. I caught one of those at my second show and had the good fortune of knowing the song at the time. Caught one more in Spring of ‘87, Spectrum. Lyrics interpreted probably as widely as Terrapin. The back and forth makes it easy to hold it near, as it were your own, personalize it, help you work it out, shake it out, all over the dance floor. We all love it, but for our own reason. It comes from the core of the Grateful Dead, I think.
  14. Keith Hernandez from the gravelly road.
  15. What did they play? Pranksters, not gangsters.
  16. Isn’t that the second recent Believe It or Not ? Kind of a big deal.
  17. I’m digging the Jack Straw Candyman opener.
  18. So, I’m sifting through all the articles about the Raiders news this week. Their team meeting before the Detroit game had the new coach talk about how when he was a player, his Giants beat undefeated New England to win the Super Bowl. McDaniels walked up to His replacement and said, “Don’t you talk about New England like that.” Yea, I would have thrown him out of my place of business too. Kudos to Davis for realizing his mistake and ending the pain. It had me thinking about the scene from The Godfather where Michael had every one who had crossed him killed while he’s at the baptism. Somebody needs to make a utube video of the soundtrack from that scene played over top of video of Davis firing the guy who threw those lousy passes against Detroit, his boss, his boss, his boss, but not himself. “It’s not the people you fire that drives you crazy, it’s the people you don’t.”
  19. Looks like my Raiders finally got around to cleaning house, cutting out all the dead wood. Boy, that needed to happen. Now what?
  20. Raiders fan here. All hope is lost. Our coach can not calculate two digit math in his head.
  21. Jim Croce passed away fifty years ago today. I loved his stuff growing up.
