  1. A well oiled machine. You can tell that their goal is to win the Super Bowl, not just excited to see how far they can get. Good discipline.
  2. So, this mailman is getting ready to retire after decades on the same mail route. Three desperate housewives on his route get together and decided that they need to do something to mark the occasion, thank him for his years of service. The mailman’s last day rolls around. He goes to one house and the housewife has a box of chocolates for him. He goes to the second house and the housewife gives him a gift certificate for a nice, local restaurant. He goes to the third house and the woman answers the door wearing her sexiest lingerie, takes him upstairs and fucks him in half. Afterwards, he is leaving and she stops him at the door, gives him a dollar. ‘What’s this for?’, he asks. She says, ‘well, I asked my husband what to do for your retirement and he said, ‘Fuck him, give him a dollar.’
  3. My first concert was Peter Frampton and Yes at JFK stadium in Philly, August 1976. I was fourteen. 140,000 people. Living a half hour down 95 in Delaware, that started a tradition of catching the bands we wanted to see when they came to the spectrum. I had a large group of friends with many different musical tastes. At our parties we listened to just about everything but when it came to shows, we took what came to Philly. Big into Steely Dan but they don’t tour. I always liked acoustic music. Went away to college, got a roommate who was just starting to get into the Dead wholeheartedly. I still remember him saying, if you like acoustic, listen to this…friend of the Devil, studio version. I started buying GD albums, stole a couple from my brother. Went home for the summer, went to a James Taylor concert at the Mann in Philly. Walking across the parking lot, two guys were arguing in the parking lot, thirty! No, thirty five! I walked over and asked what they were arguing about. The guy said two tickets for the Grateful Dead on Saturday. I gladly said, I’ll give you thirty five. Off and running. There is absolutely nothing like a Grateful Dead concert. Pretty much nothing but Grateful Dead shows since that day, 8/30/80. Only a few of the variations of the Grateful Dead after Jerry passed. Not the same without Jer bear. Heard about Dark Star Orchestra less than a week before seeing them at the music pier in OCNJ, where I grew up, summers. Completely blown away! Brought to tears. 2002, I think. I remember being so thrilled that I could still go to shows again. So, that’s what I did and am still doing. What a long, strange trip it’ll been. Praise DSO
  4. I’m talking about the numbers game with the score. Miss an extra point, get a two point conversion after the next touchdown and it becomes inconsequential. It became irrelevant as the game went on because Brady wasn’t doing anything but if those missed extra points cost them the game, this would be different discussion completely. Time will tell. Their next game will prove if those misses were a fluke or something got into his head and it’s showing up in his foot. Hopefully he can withstand the Media pressure this week.
  5. I just read about his passing. We lost a good one. I always liked how he described Garcia after his passing and how people tend to grow into legendary status as they are remembered over time. Crosby said that Garcia really was that great of a man when he was alive. I feel the same about David Crosby. Legendary while he was here.
  6. Somewhat unbelievable that cowboys kicker missed four extra points, especially in the two point conversion era. I was stunned after the third miss. The coach owned that one, shoulda gone for two, I thought. Coaches pull receivers after a couple of dropped passes. I’m guessing the coach figured that Brady wasn’t going to catch up and be a threat to their lead at that point. I’m really not sure what I am talking about, I slept through most of it.
  7. Lostlivedead.blogspot.com has an in depth article about the show. Very interesting stuff. Once again, I learned something that I didn’t know about the Grateful Dead. So cool after all these years. Kudos to Dark Star Orchestra for pulling this one out of the hat.
  8. Jacksonville QB has a lot of youth in him. He’ll be better if he can mature properly in the NFL, if he lasts that long. That one interception early that should have been a penalty instead, if that was Brady he’d be screaming at the refs, veins popping out of his neck style. Trevor seems to be more worried about his hair. This is war, go fight.
  9. I would use the first set Brent tune to hit the bathroom and get rid of all the beer I drank earlier in the parking lot. Realized that I was making a mistake, I would drink less, make sure I didn’t miss any Brent. I quit drinking Father’s Day ‘95, eight days before my last Grateful Dead concert, RFK. Got a Warf Rat in the second set Ballad slot that nite. Another instance where I was sure Jerry was singing ta ME !
  10. No drums/Space. Thought that was a regularity by then. Are we suffering from irregularity here?
  11. Listening to the original show now. Caught the Grateful Dead movie for the first time at the Tower Theatre in 1981. Neighborhood theatre on the outskirts of PHILadelphia. My buddy who I have been to about a dozen GD shows with caught the Jerry Band there on Halloween the same year. That’s all I got.
  12. Outside of the meat in the bird song sandwich, the acoustic set lines up with 1980 acoustic shows. In case you didn’t already know that.
  13. Raiders Mantra this year; ‘what do you want me to do, to do for you, to see you through?’
  14. Yea, should be a good one tonight.
  15. Got some ‘first time played’ in there? I’m guessing At least Delia’s gone, maybe wonderful world, Valerie.
  16. There’s a lot packed in there. No rest for the dancers. I love it!
  17. Second set pre drums looks like a bit of a roller coaster ride.
  18. I miss the good old days when cliff Branch and Fred Belitnikoff had huge wads of Stick um on their tube socks so they could reapply and stay out there. Carr has the top spot on consecutive games played and still counting. That’s gonna end. I hope Carr finds vindication.
  19. So, it looks like my Raiders are redefining the term ClusterFuck.
  20. I’m partial to the tunes that were in rotation and then came back and stayed in rotation as opposed to the ones that came back out for a one time played. I’m glad the thread stayed true to that.
  21. ‘Leave nothing but footprints’ is a phrase I remember seeing on the letter that came with the mail order tickets. Back in the day.
  22. I’m wondering if New Potato Caboose is the same New Potato Caboose from the late Eighties. Those guys were pretty good back then. One guy dropped out, they started calling themselves Radio Mosaic. They used to play Andy’s in Chestertown about once a month. Based in DC area?
  23. What would a chair look like if your knees bent the other way?
