Ellen,

No one needs to "swallow it whole", although if you're on tour I suppose you'd want to be able to swallow most of it. That said, if the Saturday Regency show didn't move you I can't imagine why you'd bother to travel to see the band. I just can't fathom it getting much better than that.

Guest Due Reflection

"comprehensive post"?

i don't know you nor do i care about what 'rep' or history you have on these boards/DSO but i really can't stand 'experts' -- couldn't stomach it back in the day and it's a few layers more pathetic that someone cops the 'expert' attitude with a GD tribute in 2010... and that would be alright with me but to post up multiple times about your 'upcoming review' is crass and self-aggrandizing -- maybe it's just me but posting up not one but two 'prefaces' to this elaborate forthcoming review demonstrates to me that you feel like this particular show, this forum, DSO is all about you -- and your review is bound to be a letdown... you may as well tell everyone that your recap is going to be bigger than 10 Super Bowls because that's pretty much what you've done... what presumption and hubris to think anybody is going to be breathless with anticipation for this upcoming 'review'. -- and if you are one of these people on the edge of your seat waiting for it then i don't know what to tell you.

whether you've seen DSO 1 or 100 times means zero to me.

yawn.

fwiw, i didn't fall to my knees in worship at every note they played and there were a couple of points during the sat. night show were i was bored stiff and had to take a walk; but it didn't outweigh the sum total of its parts... if you're already at the keyboard, wherever, then post up your review -- but you're David Fricke? or Walt Whitman? probably just in your own mind.

self-involved 'experts' are boring.

maybe you should just scrap the dissertation you're working on and just ask for a refund?

"not feeling the love" - exactly

wish i could completely articulate why

working on it - more to come

"but has yet to rip my soul open" - exactly Steve - could not have said it better

its not MOVING me

"DSO with JK was lots more than just rocking and shredding to me....It moved me in a way that this new DSO did not"

Again - sometimes my friends can say it better than I can

DSO w/Stu MOVED me, with JK too but 8 shows and counting and not much movement lately

"more aggressive sound"

too much crescendo to nowhere

not enough finesse

it feels forced

I am bored

I want FRESH

I want it to Breathe Life

I understand that is a tall order

but I am a demanding girl

I am not saying they are not talented musicians

and they are obviously playing their hearts out

but I am not dancing

so something is wrong

and its not whats going on in the audience

no I was not annoyed by talkers or drunks or security etc

I had plenty of space to dance, it was flat and the sound was adequate

but there I am standing watching bored night after night

when Lisa singing backup vocals on Round and Round is the highlight of my SF weekend

I start wondering what is lacking

I am working on a comprehensive post

to come later post tour

get your xanax out

it is going to ruffle feathers

hope you can keep your pants on and not attack me for not joining the lovefest

those of you who know me know I have been doing this GD thing for life so

none of this is light to me

it is serious business and I take it very seriously

so more later

-e

It appears someone's feathers have been ruffled.

I knew the personal attacks would come eventually

thanks for your kindness

I think you started a healthy discussion on the board and for once it seems people were being respectful. Anyone who knows you well enough knows you don't believe "its all about you". We love ya!

OK OK Enough already! Like, don't like, indifferent Our band is having a great time and are very thankful that we are evolving every day.

John played with my fellow band mates for a long time. You develop a rapport and certain habits. Now, change is inevitable and must be embraced by us in order to move forward. Jeff has been playing with us for less than a year but we have already gone on some serious journeys to environs we have never visited before. All of this takes time like breaking in a new pair of boots. In the beginning you get blisters but in time as the leather gets silky smooth you couldn't fathom how you lived without them!

We appreciate more than you will ever know your support in this endeavor. Happy journey everyone. Rob Barraco

Ellen I didn't get a chance to say hi to you at the SF shows...I was going to as you were talking to Barraco after a show but didn't want to interrupt---sorry....but I'm saying "hi" now!

I appreciate your honesty a lot, because sometimes, it's way too rainbow and waterfalls on here (that's why I go to the Phil Zone sometimes!). I love to hear real and honest reviews. It's different here cause some of the members of the band are cool enough to be part of this thing, but that's one of the reasons many of us love this board.

I can understand someone new like Due, taking your recent posts the wrong way too...so I'm glad you are taking it with a grain of salt.

Yeah...I'm sure many of us want to hear your cogent and well thought out opinions regarding Obama and George Bush Matt.

Don't go into sales/advertising bro. :)

why don't you just go ahead and comb those feathers back in place for a minute and take a deep breathe

the post isn't coming yet because she is not done seeing shows on the tour

as she stated, the review will be post-tour

it is going to be her review of tour

and the tours not over

now just keep breathing and it will all be ok

Who pays taxes??? wacko.gif

I'll tell you what. Live in Cali and you will pay some BIG OL' taxes. I can't even look at my paycheck anymore.

Now, carry on folks, this wasn't supposed to be about politics or taxes ;-)

Um no one should complain about taxes until it keeps you from touring for a three and a half month period, and during that time period You you feel lucky when you work less than 60 hours that week........

For those who can't tell......I'm complaining about taxes from a slightly different angle

I'd work your 60 hours a week for 3 1/2 months if you pay my $1000/month state taxes to California....yes, that is just state taxes. I Consider it the premium I pay to live in a place with great weather, beautiful sights, cool people, and some of the best music around. Otherwise, I'd consider myself insane.

I lived in california, I hear you. I suppose I'm in the minority in this country, I am ok with higher taxes as it is the cost of living in the good ole USA..

watch out brentfan is actually an undercover IRS agent...I have nothing to worry about tho cuz I pay my taxes

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Who blew my cover?!? Just call me the tax man...

TheTaxmanIsWatching.jpg

I could never pass the background checks. IRS agents actually go through full FBI training in addition to "tax bootcamp". Nothing about that sounds fun to me. So instead I get to help people "shield" their money from taxes.

I really don't want to transform this into the tax rate thread, but I"m just kind of curious how you arrive at this figure? Neither party has said they want the Bush tax cuts to expire for those making less than $250K per year (even though these cuts were never meant to be permanent). If you are making over $250K, congratulations. Pay your taxes and quit complaining. If not, your taxes should stay the same. The big Washington debate now is whether the ultra rich (even those making over $1M in some politicians minds) should go back to paying what they used to. What is completely amazing is how the GOP ran up the biggest debt in history during the Cheney Administration, and now want to keep tax cuts for plutocrats that will drive it up more.
