Surprised no one used the elevens lyrics. Here's my 8-3 countdown

Eight-sided whispering hallelujah hatrack
Seven-faced marble eye transitory dream doll
Six proud walkers on jingle-bell rainbow
Five men writing in fingers of gold
Four men tracking the great white sperm whale
Three girls wait in a foreign dominion

Dear Dr Watson, who does the opening number? I liked that song so much. Who is John Sebastian and what is his story?

Big Sur is beautiful- Joe ran the marathon there once with a group from home.

John Sebastian came out of the folk music scene in Greenwich Village…he actually lived there as a child.  He was good friends of David Crosby, Graham Nash, Joni, Mamma Cass and that crowd out west.  He was invited to be a second S in CSN but decided to stay solo at that time. John might be best known for his songs with “The Lovin’ Spoonful” …many light, fun, loving songs that had pop success.   The first time I heard John live was Saturday afternoon at Woodstock where he filled in some time with a short set.   Many years later I got his autograph on the bill of my baseball cap.   I’ll ask John to play a few of his songs for you.

and if you really want the story of "The Lovin' Spoonful" listen to John Sebastian tell the story himself.   You know thir first seven songs all charted in the top ten at the same time the Beatles were taking all the number one spots.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuuroKGsWYo
