Al jezeria actually has good reporting.  Oddly enough, and the bbc.  American networks are way to commercialized, politicized, and owned by political activist, and/or multinational conglomerstes trying to put out their social engineering!!

I often wonder what it is about the USA that makes us such the EXTREME outlier in terms of homicide by gun.

The stats are off the chart compared to any other developed country in the world. It's also true that every other developed country in the world has much stricter rules and regulations on guns......is this the primary reason that they are spared the carnage that we display year after year?

Thoughts?

War on drugs created a multi billion dollar industry. People have always fought for money. Millions die in wars about power and land. The war on drugs gave the poor a chance to become rich if they were ruthless enough. Many had nothing to lose. No education. No money. No hope. Selling crack on a corner could net them a few hundred a day. But there are limited corners so people fought for the land. The inner city violence is directly associated with the war on drugs. The heavier the prison sentences, the more likely someone was to use a gun on the cops. If you are facing a week in jail you wouldn't shoot a cop. Facing 25 years if you got caught means you won't be taken down without a fight.

America has had a long history of violence anyway. America was completely undeveloped just a few hundred years ago. We had to create everything. In a fledgling civilization there are always violent struggles for gold. We had no established justice system like every country in Europe. The west was lawless for 100 years. You had to carry a gun or be easy prey for others.

On another note, the NRA was an early supporter of background checks. That was when they were funded through member contributions. Now they the gun lobby. They donated 30mil to the trump campaign. 30 million. They aren't about hunters and sportsmen anymore. They are about profits for the gun companies that fill their coffers.  They were behind the legislation to make silencers no longer have to go through class 3 paperwork and fees. What's weird is I haven't heard alex jones say Las Vegas was a hoax or a false flag....yet.  He said sandy hook never happened.  Legislation was going to be passed legalizing silencers as gun companies needed another revenue stream.  Forget about any gun control or safety legislation being enacted in the next 15 years. The house is too gerrymandered for that to happen.  The silliest thing about the 2nd amendment and maybe the most scary is taking up arms against a tyrannical gov. The founding fathers never imagined tomahawk missiles or Abrams tanks or stealth bombers when they put that in the bill of rights because there is no fighting the government even if you had thousands of automatic weapons.  There will be a drone watching you and your posse as the bomb falls on top of you. Just the thought of civil war is frightening. I see so many far right sites that seem to glorify splitting and warring people who disagree and even the mental midget governor of Kentucky stated that if Hillary had won that blood may have to be spilled to save the country. It seems like fun and games to these nuts. It's funny they like to call themselves patriots as they attack the American way of life.  The scariest thing is that a crazy person holds our destiny in his hands. If he lost he had already laid the seeds for a revolt. If he runs again and loses then says if whoever takes office they will (insert nonsense statement here) if you don't stand up and fight.  I think the definition of patriot has changed in America.  For 20 years or so the far right has coined this phrase "real America" which means republican rural America. The funny thing is New York and Philly are more America than anywhere. They were the founding cities. The majority of the population is in cities but since all major economic hubs all vote democrat they are demonized. Humans are so dumb if told the same lie over and over they begin to believe it. I mean the fake news media is actiallly the real news and the actual fake news like Alex jones is praised by our authoritian leader. But say it enough and people believe it. Tell them that Dems will destroy their country and idiots will take up guns.  Our ex national security advisor Flynn helped push a story that Hillary Clinton was running a child slavery ring under a pizza parlor. Only an idiot would believe that. Well a guy takes a gun in that pizza parlor to free hillarys sex slaves.  These people are the dangerous ones. The ones with their talk radio and their conspiracy theories and nonsense lies with the dumbest Americans with the most guns listening. The ones who really believe Hillary would come door to door taking guns and would probably put your kids in a child sex ring under some catfish restaurant.

It is becoming difficult to be a reasonable person in the middle these days with the mentality of "your either with us or against us". I really believe we need a third party or even more. Force the politicians to form coalitions to pass legislation.

Could not agree more.  The necessity of an active third party has been my pet political issue for 20 years.  As much as I detest the current president and the current actions of the alt right, I can see a path to a third party right now.  If Steve Bannon continues his assault on moderate republicans, a major fracture could ensue within the Republican party that leads to a relevant 3rd party on the far right.  I would further encourage Bernie Sanders to do the same thing in the Democratic Party and lead a 4th party that is far left.  Lo and behold.....we would have a moderate Democratic Party, a moderate Republican Party, a progressive/socialist party, and a far-right party.  As you suggest.....coalitions would need to be formed to pass legislation, which will have a long-term benefit to the country.

And for anyone who wants to challenge my statement, please allow me fill in some blanks for a curious mind.

1.  The founders intended fire arms so the people could remain in control of their government.

3.  If government tried to initiate military actions in a domestic setting, than people would rise fast quick and swift.   (Look what they do when a black theif was shot dead for breaking the law and threating a police officer).   Civillian voice would unite.

4.  Guns are heritage.   A county in georgia has a gun ownership law.  You must own a fire arm.  Look at crime rates in that town.

5.  Assult weapons, how else you going to get rid of 50 senators, 435 House reps in a hurry?

6.  Many people have died sensless deaths.  They are casualties for our freedom of a country more free than most if not all.  Our country was born out of the strifes of war and revelotuion.  Not a castro or chae revelotuion, but a experiment that gave the individual the right to think for themselves.  A country revered, thanked, but at times belittled because we are so well armed.  But looked upon as a world leader for freedom.  Go ahead and argue that.  See our immigration requests?

Gun control....not in my lifetime, its as much part of the american experience as turning 16 and getting your license.

Accidents happen.  We learn from them and improve.

Selfish, mis informed, and in my parts fighting words.  I dont hunt.  I hate panic, and i love animals, but i would hunt anything down that tried to take away the 10 basic tenants of this grand experiment we call the United States of America.

I also salute my flag, and would frap my kid if he ever took a knee to our national anthem.  His family faught so others could take a knee, but if the time came to disarm and take our freedoms, we would not be kneeling.  I assure you, we would not be nealing.

That being said....i would prefer to make love, not war.

The Bill of Rights is paramount to this countries continued success.  I urge some to research why, and to reseaech both sides of why and why  they are still as relevant now as they were during the Contenantal Congress.

....but the first 10, we can never loose, or we the people have lost, and we would be to blame.

At the risk of incorrectly paraphrasing, you seem to strongly believe that the right to bear arms is justified in the need to protect oneself against a tyrannical, overbearing, or otherwise wrongful government.  This is a reasonable viewpoint and bears consideration.  While I never would have given this argument two seconds of thought, events of the past year have convinced me that anything can happen and maybe the need will arise.

However, you also have cast a large spotlight on the Bill of Rights in your many arguments and statements on this page.  The forefathers of our country and Framers of our Constitution are not infallible.  Slavery???  The 2nd Amendment is nothing more than words.  I am tired of hearing about the 2nd Amendment being enough reason for guns to be legal.  The best thing the founders did was allow for the Constitution to be changed and AMENDED.  The 2nd Amendment is outdated.  It is time the Right to Bear Arms is "Infringed" upon in some meaningful way.

There is not enough time in my day to provide all the reasons I believe there needs to be at minimum more sensible gun control, if not a total ban.

You state in an earlier post  that "I am a peaceful man".  That is the calling card of many an NRA member.  "Guns don't kill...people do." You are not innocent or peaceful just because you have never used a gun irresponsibly.  This country has a gun epidemic that more reasonable countries do not.  It is not because our populus is more unhappy than others, or because we have more mental instability.  It is because we have easy access to guns, especially semi-automatic weapons.  Plain and simple. I strongly believe that anyone who carries that NRA card, or fights against reasonable gun control in any form, has blood on their hands......and should therefore reconsider their own accountability.

As far as your stance on kneeling for the anthem.....no one that I know ever fought for a flag.  They fought for the ideals of democracy and basic human rights.  There are plenty of heroes who never fought in war, but used peaceful means to fight the tyranny of government.  Martin Luther King and Muhammad Ali come to mind.  The peaceful expression of one's beliefs, no matter the form, is protected in another of your cherished bill of rights.  My guess is that you don't agree with the stance of the protesters or the reasons why they kneel.  I am not so sure I do either. However, I can tell you Colin Kaepernick had a lot to lose by choosing a peaceful protest in order to shed light upon an issue he felt needed attention.  Standing up for a flag is easy.  Putting it all on the line for what one views as a stance in support of basic human rights is hard.  IMHO, the latter represents true American ideals and embodies what people fought for.

I would add a couple things...  In most modern wars, when speaking of territory, natural resources are usually what is desired.  Iraq/Kuwait = oil;  Afghanistan = opium.  We borrowed $2 trillion from China to drop 50,000 bombs on uninhabited mountains in Afghanistan as a distraction while we secured the opium fields from the Taliban.

If you don't believe me, just ask a soldier who was sent there to potentially die so their friends could eventually die from heroin overdoses.  Not to mention, in nearly all modern US wars, our soldiers, young men just starting their adult lives, are killed with weaponry that WE provided to that "enemy" in some other ploy to take and control something deemed necessary for the good of the country.

Starting right now, I refuse to speak either of the names of our last two presidential candidates ever again!    I will no longer provide justification that our "democratic" system chose the two most universally hated candidates in the history of the country, when two of the better ones, Kasich & Sanders, were the alternatives.  Incredibly disrespectful to the populace of this land and our Constitution.  Entire country should have boycotted voting period.  But we've all been pitted against each other, just as they've planned.  Divide & Conquer.  Oldest trick in the book for controlling a large group.  Civil war is right Rude.  That is their agenda and party liners are are falling for it hook, line, and sinker.  I'm done with all political discussions period.

As i said.  Cars kill more people than guns.

And its a privilsge, not a limit on government powers.  According to your arguments.  Cars should be outlawed.   Wspecially becauee of all the assults on innocnet people lately.

If i agree to get rid of 2nd bill of rights, will you agrewntonget ridnof your car?

If i agree to get rid of 2nd bill of rights, will you agrewntonget ridnof your car?

Sorry.  This is not a valid equivalency.

1.  Without having exact numbers, I would suspect that the proportion of accidental vehicle deaths/total vehicle deaths is higher than the proportion of accidental gun deaths/total gun deaths.  At a minimum, I am sure there are more people killed purposefully by guns than those who are intentionally murdered by car.  In other words, if all gun deaths were accidental, I would not be suggesting that the 2nd Amendment needs revisiting.  Yes....there are gun accidents, as there are vehicle accidents.  However, guns are also used as intentional tools of murder at an increasingly alarming rate.  Cars are generally not used for this purpose.  The intent matters in this case.  If one agrees that intent matters, your argument is not an equivalent.

2.  I am a proponent of responsible limits and regulations on who should be able to operate a vehicle, and how a vehicle should safely be operated. Most states have laws that say you may not operate a hand held device while operating a vehicle because it protects the public.  There are countless laws that dictate how a car may be driven to promote safety.  For example, speed limits must be followed.  There are very reasonable limits on how much you are allowed to drink and drive.  I would suggest even more limits on the driving privileges of older adults and younger adults.  Driving is a very regulated privilege.  I do not believe that gun ownership is regulated anywhere close to the extent it should be to promote public safety.  For example, if there existed a Cell Phone Lobby group and they were anywhere near as powerful or RIDICULOUS as the NRA, do you think that handheld devices would have ever been restricted while operating a vehicle.  Just a wild guess......but I doubt it.

There is one caveat to this argument.....the increasing use of vehicles as a weapon during terrorist attacks.  That being said, I am sure there are many more gun murders than vehicle murders in the world.  As long as that remains the case, I believe my argument above remains valid.

Drugs....kill a lot of people.  Get rid of prescriptions too?

Most prescription and drug deaths are self-inflicted.  People choose to take the drug and they die.

Is there a new epidemic of people forcing others to ingest drugs and killing them?  Sorry, I have not heard of it.

There is a major difference between people dying and people getting murdered.  People use guns to commit murder.  People do not use drugs to directly commit murder.

Again....your equivalency is very flawed.

I'm starting to believe that civil war may be the ultimate goal of the ruling faction.  Too difficult to control such a large and diverse population.  Time to make the herd thin itself.

And then BLAME itself for it, furthur justifying the "need" for strong government involvement and regulation.

Uhhh sunny there is gun control already. It's why you can't own a nuke or rocket launcher. Both are considered arms and looking st the 2nd amendment you would think a local militia could own them.

If it's ok to regulate machine guns then why isn't it ok to regulate guns only used for killing people?  An ar-15 is a people killer. It's why our military uses the auto version of it. It's the best people killer or we'd use a better one.

When anyone can skirt automatic weapon laws with a simple fix to make a gun a mass murder machine and 1 party is so blinded by fear of having all weapons taken that no discussion can take place, we need to look at who we are as a people.  When rural idiots say u ain't gonna take my guns when no one is trying to take their guns, we have an issue. When legal gun owners all pass background checks to buy guns and they are against universal background checks, we are getting into plain ignorance.  But now isn't the time to have a gun debate. You should never look at fixes after a catastrophe except for everything but mass shootings. We have given up all privacy for a minimal terror threat that has killed 20 people a year over 15 years but we will give up nothing over 10k gun murders a year. That's what you call being owned by corporations.

The ruling faction has been seeing the seeds of civil war for years.  Google KY governor calls for civil war and read his whole speech.  Keep telling enough lies and the uneducated will believe them. Tell those uneducated that your life will end with a democrat and they will take up arms. Tell them that their religion will be taken away. Tell them lies how the 1% Muslims will install the new religion. Tell them obviously whatever you want as they seem to believe everything these days. Truth is now lies. Quotes are always misrepresented. Everyone is out to get them. The Mexicans and blacks will take over. Whites will be oppressed how they oppressed others(now that would be scary). How can you not take up arms if you believe this?  Your idiot president is pounding these things down your throat. He wants victory or destruction. It's always his MO. If he can't have it he wants no one to. When I'm rooting on the side of republican far right senators to keep it in check then you know shits gone off the rails.  I don't think anyone ever had said ted Cruz is the voice of reason but if we could go back I think many here would register as republican just to get that crazy in office as he's only politically crazy and not actually mentally ill crazy.  Every democrat I know would be happy with pence taking the reigns to stop more permanent damage like these trade agreements that keep our economy chugging along. I'm sure many of you don't even know the long term damage that canceling the TPP is going to do to our economy. We are talking 1 million lost jobs a year because of this. No one even knows about this. Budgetary offices have reduced our economic growth by .3% a year starting in several years because of the long term damage from us not being in this trade deal. We can't go back to the economy of 1980. It's gone. We are in a new era. We can't save industries. Those companies like many of my clients who used to produce things have to change. 1 client went from printing into service. They cant compete with Chinese printing so they adapted and survived. They won't ever print again and don't want to. That has passed.  Pandering to the unskilled has never made for a great economy. The unskilled always take the worst jobs. These jobs always change. It seems like there's no common sense anymore.

Oh and there is no such thing as an American civil war. It would be called world war as it would collapse every economy on earth. Every country would be destabilized and the fight for food would begin.  If American industry stopped world unemployment would shoot to 50%. Militias would invade Canada for food and resources. Nukes would likely eventually fly as the best option for leaders would be to bunker it for years.  It would lead to billions of deaths. Genocide would happen in every country. No one ever takes shit down the line to its conclusion.

Rude, I've liked your two previous comments a lot.  The one I quote here just may be one of your more concise and well thought out ever!  Unfortunately it seems you do not fully accept that similar propaganda and tactics are used by democrats as well.  It's not a single sided issue.  Making it one is equally unproductive.

I will agree that many of the things conservatives latch on to seem odd and directly effect them negatively.  So many of the things they buy into directly puts corporate rights over individual ones, even though the purpose of doing so (expanding business, increasing jobs,  increasing wages, lowering inflation, etc.) is rarely ever what actually happens.

Shit, I was supposed to be refraining from political comments.  ok, last one.  Some other radical independent will have to take the reins.

The country's president, sorry. And I'm sorry you believe that I would accept anything Hillary did and if you think and democrat on the boards here which are likely the majority would accept Hillary raping kids you are insane. This whole thing has been as much about character as it has been policy. She might have been flawed but she did nothing to the level trump has. What did she do?? Use a private email server like all the current trump people are doing to hide their shit?  Not sure where u really stand at all. I try to be a force for good and equality because that is the only way we survive. Trump followers which I admit are way fewer now, believe they must divide the country to concentrate their power. It's an us vs them for these people. They believe the only hope is to eliminate Mexicans who are a threat to their future elections. They knew that if Hillary won it was over because the electorate was becoming more and more democrat. This is their last stand. It's why they demonize education.  When kids face diversity of thought they tend to lose these alt right views of blacks all being criminals and Mexicans job stealers and rapists. Their only shot is to get all the people out that can pop out American citizen babies. They will crash it all down if they must as we've seen by attacks on trade deals which are good for us no matter what the crazies say.

Not sure where u really stand at all.

  • I stand for eliminating all campaign contributions from third party sources and having all political campaigns funded directly by the taxpayer.
  • I stand for limiting campaigns to set times based on the office being sought. (i.e. 2 weeks for mayors, a month for congress man, 3 months for Presidents)
  • I stand for coup d'état.  I want the citizens, the police, the coast guard, the military, et all to stand hand in hand and force our current government to pick 4 representatives to help write the new constitution as everyone else steps down.
  • I stand for the immediate legalization of ALL drugs and the immediate release of all non-violent drug offenders.  Followed by programs to educate people about consumption, moderation, addiction, and rehabilitation.
  • I stand for prison inmates being given full time jobs in special coop programs where they actually work low skill labor jobs or learn trades and earn a reasonable salary that gets put away so they have something to fall on when they get released. Currently our "justice" system make inmates work a few hours a day for $0.37 an hour and when it's time to release them we give them a taxi ride and the whopping $13 that they saved and say, "Good luck.  Hope you don't come back."
  • I stand for integrating architecture and nature.  Urban and rural.
  • I stand for food being grown and picked freely in the streets and farmers becoming stewards of our rural lands.
  • I stand for never being required to pay a penalty or fee to be granted what the Bill of Rights guarantees to us in the Constitution .
  • Most importantly, I stand on the side of us vs. them, NOT us vs. us

It doesn't really matter anyway.  What matters is whether as individuals we view each other as conspirators in their party's agenda or as victims of the same propaganda machine we all are being cooked in.  I choose the latter.  Why?  Because I believe deep down, everyone's core values are the same.

Review comments I've made. You'll rarely find a "you" or an "I".  That's because I don't point blame generally at one person or group.  "WE" on the other hand will come up often.  The future's here, WE ARE IT, WE ARE ON OUR OWN.  And you are either with us or against us.  FIGHT THE POWER!  (maybe I just listened to too much Public Enemy as a teen)

I got a letter from the government, the other day.

I opened and read it and said they were suckers.

They wanted me for their army or whatever?

Picture ME giving a damn, I said NEVER!
