Cali looks cool but no black mountain???????????????????????????????????????????

That stings. That’s like a 2nd jubilee to see all your friends.

Black mountain will most certainly happen again.  I recall, it's usually late late summer.

I can't complain about Glen Allen.

I enjoyed that place.  My mom's first show.  She watched her son dance,be silly.  I felt silly dancing in front of her...never in front of you all.

I can do Glen Allen.  Hope to see you there Rude, hope to see a good many of you there.

It usually ends summer tour. Not yelling at the band lol, just pretty shocked as that’s become a big tradition for a lot of us on here. Outdoors in a beautiful quaint area. 2 shows. Brings lots of us from far and wide. Dancing with 50 friends stage left is always a blast.

But....no Dewey.   Place is so crap.  Why do still plays there I don't know.

Not many people who really live it like we do.  They only serves Bud light, and the venue is full of spilled beer on Crete floors, tourist talking, cops waiting to take you to jail.

My yard is 6 times the size of Dewey, and only 3 hours away.

I would host for free, and most certainly collect more funds for the band then Dewey!!

Dewey is really that bad, huh? I was thinking of trying to make it down there, not sure on it yet. Was hoping for Hampton to be the following weekend, wedding anniversary on the 28th and that would not fly very well.

I live in the boondocks of Central Maine. My favorite venue to see the band has always been the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom.

A combination of shitty circumstances and happy circumstances has made it so that I haven't seen DSO at Hampton Beach since Kevin's last shows (2013 maybe?).

Sorry if you folks are disappointed by the summer dates, but I'm doing backflips over Hampton > Hampton > Portland.

Dewey is a different world.  Don't get me wrong.  I had a blast there.  Kept some from going to jail, found refuge in a camper on site...leagally.

Made friends with police, kicked a beer can half full that a women rolled my way to have me fall while dancing.

It was a act on purpose.  She eventually felt the wrong deed with the kind words I shared.

No beer other than Bud light.

It's a dive bar.  In polite terms, I took someone out who I thought at first was cool, until his drink made him grab some women in some of the most innapropriate ways.  I was so disgusted , I had to act.  I have a daughter, but I too can act like a fool.

Tickets for Jay walking.  Speed limits extremely enforced.

A sell out crowd, all ways for sure, but not the crowd I prefer to be with.

Go every where once.  Choose for yourself.  I am not here to take away payments from the band.  I love them to much.  But, I will never be silent about what I have seen....

Every place is worth a try....this was several years back.  Maybe it's changed.  DSO likes it, it's been a summer staple, but Glen Allen should be 2 nights, and Dewey none.  Just another fools opinion.  However, not many here go.

Some here are not even allowed to go.

Yuk, Sounds tough, but I'll probably still go. Do you remember at all the parking situation there? Plan on sleeping in my vehicle, but it doesn't sound like the friendliest town for doing that.

Wow! Not feeling any luv here in the Midwest .  I figured since we got shut out in the winter and spring we would get some good outdoor music this summer other than the Jubilee, which I can't make.

Definitley not hating just expressing dissappointment of not having a local show or two. Oh well what are you going to do but keep going where the wind don"t blow so strange.:D

I know there are negatives with Dewey....all mentioned and all valid.

However........there are a couple things I LOVE about Dewey.

It's a nice beach day if you choose to make that part of your trip.

The hotels are all within a couple block walking distance.

I am a smoker (not cigarettes).  The venue allows for exit and re-entry.  It is one of my favorite venues since I can take a 2 minute walk back to the hotel room, have a relaxing smoke without worrying about anyone hassling me....and a short walk back before the set break is close to over.

I am also a drinker.....the close hotel room makes drinking and driving a non-issue.

I have been with some great groups of people who really danced hard at Dewey.  It can be tight at times, but I have usually been able to carve out some space.  The tough thing about Dewey is that you do get a "vacationer" crowd mixed in with the heads.  It is tough to tune out the talking during the ballads.......which is often the case at any arena.

Hotel sounds like a good option, pricey down there though. May take my chances and try to find a parking spot or  somewhere nearby to sleep.

Yea, Dewey works for me too. Two days at the beach, two shows. Nice summer break. Easy drive to Dewey for me, all country roads. If you sit still, they come to you. You actually don't have to follow the band.  I'm Warf Ratn' it so the paranoia is only residual. Cops are a non issue. Yea, talkers and non heads there. My biggest bitch is trying to dance on that uneven concrete floor.

Was thinking the same. All left and right coast. Was looking forward to some summer shows in the area. Please slip in a Springfield show again this summer!

I can't remember the year, but I was still in the Navy so it was pre 2006. I went to Dewey and parked in the lot around 1-2 PM. Back then there was a lot to the left of the entrance with about 20 spots or so. I slept in the back of my durango with no problems and left town around 6 am the next day. That show was when I first talked to Scott, he came out around 6 or so and chatted with the 10 or 12 of us drinking in the lot. It's definitely a dive, but I have been 4 or 5 times since and have had grate experiences. Only slept in the lot that first time.
