As Lisa said at Jubilee, thank goodness for good song writing.

I was spurred  to post by Mickey Hart’s post. Paraphrased he said the Grateful Dead band s one thing,; the feeling and what it stands for is another. Its legacy resides in the people it touches and the experience between the lyrics and the music.

It means more than words can tell.

Thank you Hunter- your words do glow and stand timeless. Happy Birthday

It can be argued, convincingly I might add, that while Garcia was the inner most core of the Grateful Dead Robert Hunter was one ring outside of that. And then the other band members orbited from there.  That model might sell Phil Lesh a bit short, but it's not unreasonable.

I, personally, think Garcia and Hunter are the center of the Grateful Dead universe. The other members would just be average players in the rock and roll universe if they weren’t associated with Garcia’s playing, singing and Hunter’s lyrics. Hunter is up there with Dylan. Again, just my personal opinion. No need to throw a chair and drop an F bomb.
