Bottle and Cork, Dewey Beach, DE

Recommended Posts

I decided to go to the shows in Delaware at the Bottle and Cork in Dewey Beach.  I was just wondering what your thoughts are about the place.

The cops are strict. Be good or be good at it. The place has four walls but no roof over half of it. That makes it kinda neat for summer beach show. Uneven floor, gotta seek out a good spot to dance or you will appear drunk. The band loves the place. I think they may even be the reason that there’s no roof on half of the place. Skip bombed it off years ago. Pretty sure. Small stage so one drummer show and one night elective is the usual routine but don’t trust DSO. They keep us on our toes, mixing things up constantly.

I believe it’s ok. I know that the band encourages it. Soundboard is in the back of the room, straight out from the band. Pretty much railed off from the crowd which will be full of people taking up all the spots on the rail there. Personal message Hardpan, he’ll know more than me about taping.

I wouldn’t say the band loves it. They always play smoking shows there. Like they used to at the 930. Crowded. Loud. Lots of beer spills.

Ive heard it referred to as dowehaveto beach. However they sell out week nights there. They venue takes care of them financially and like I said they always smoke those shows. Definitely worth going.

We went last year. We gonna stay in ocean city this year for family time.

One of the smallest venues they play.

Always run into friends.

They routinely kill it there.

Praise DSO.

Plus you almost guaranteed a one drummer show with some pigpen. I love those shows.

However watch Dso figure out how to get 2 drum sets on stage since now 2 of us have mentioned the one drummer aspect.

Two drummers minus the beast and other modern drum equipment for a 69 style?? 🤤🤤

That’s so funny. I was thinking the same thing while driving to the beach today.  Now that we’re expecting one drummer, they'll somehow change It up to two drummers.

One step done and another begun....

Can’t go wrong with a day at the beach, then DSO at night! For what it’s worth, I have been to the last 5 DSO runs at the Bottle and Cork. Other than a bogus parking ticket, we’ve never had issues with the police. We usually stay at Cape Henlopen SP and Uber down and back. Anyone camping?

Dewey Beach Brewing Co is just across the street, good beers. There is also a Mexican joint just south of Bottle and Cork, their asparagus tacos are AWESOME and the margaritas are damn good too, MezCali Taqueria! Can’t wait!!

A song that for me totally embodies the relationship between two incredible talents that speak to one another thru their instruments. They both really shine in this one. Heard Jeff do it last year, I think Atlanta, and he fucking killed it.  Makes me emotional to hear Jerry sing it during this era. He was awesome.

I did both those jgb merriweather shows, alpine and poplar creek. Horn hat AKG 460's > dbx224(battery converted) >d5. The dixie at merriweather, the lonesome at Alpine and the let's spend at poplar were choice. Heading to Louisville this weekend for Uli jon roth , closest thing to hendrix I've ever seen. My first deal was when jg opened for fz August 1984 in Chicago. the studio version is a good listen.

I love this song. I love the record version, and I love how it changed over the years. There were more than a few hot ones in 1983-1984, then while always good, it seems that 1989 brought out extra hot ones again. I love this one with JGB, its a toss up between this one and the Alpine Valley shows from the summer which I like best from that year.

I once bought a kitten and he just kept meowing and meowing. He talked quite a bit. Then I started stringing up my guitar that evening, and he came over and started pawing at the frets, meowing meowing meowing. I looked at this overly talkative creature who was now trying to play his dad's guitar, and the name was obvious at once: Arlo.  12 years later, he still talks a lot. Love Arlo Guthrie. Such a unique and funny personality. Have seen him a few times. He always puts on a great show.
