Forum MVP BillK522 Posted October 9, 2019 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 9, 2019 89/10/09 Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA Stranger, Built To Last, Rooster, Ramble On Rose, We Can Run, Jack-a-Roe, Memphis, Row Jimmy, Music. Playin'>Uncle John's>Playin' reprise>Dark Star>D>S> Death Don't Have No Mercy>Fantasy>Hey Jude> Throwin' Stones>Good Lovin'. E: Attics The biggest "mind blown" show I ever attended. Dark Star embodies the spirit of open ended Grateful Dead music and the jumping off point of many a journey into the unknown. I spent the evening within 5 rows of the stage on Jerry's side, unsure if I was still on this planet. I believe some of the best modern Grateful Dead music was performed between these Hampton shows and Brent's death the following summer. Praise DSO. Forum MVP Tom Banjo Posted October 9, 2019 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 9, 2019 That show is special. Can’t imagine what that must’ve felt like. The death don’t gives me chills just listening on headphones.
Forum MVP Greg from Chestertown Posted October 9, 2019 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 9, 2019 One of their greatest pranks. It fooled me. I missed those shows. I was listening to this show this morning, just dreaming about what it would have been like to be there, let alone fifth row, Jerry’s side. The band was huge then, unstoppable. Forum MVP acududeman Posted October 10, 2019 Forum MVP Report Share Posted October 10, 2019 I was in attendance at most of the Hampton shows from '83 - '88, but I unfortunately missed the infamous Warlocks shows in '89. Epic shows indeed!
