Cinci Trip Report

Found a cheap flight to Cincinnati late last week, so flew out for Saturday's show

Got to Annie's a bit early and just milled around. Perfect weather.

Band was real loose but the playing was tight.....Crowd was thin to begin but filled out.....Holds 2500 people...guessing about 500 in attendance, but I am not the greatest with estimates

Rob B was having trouble with his monitor, but sound was perfect out in the crowd......

Show was high energy from the beginning...

Kind of a lopsided crowd for the 1st set as the sun was setting over the Ohio River so everyone shifted to stage right to avoid the sun...was kind of amusing....

Also amused that the facility along side the standard Miller Lite, Bud, etc also sold Remy XO for $15 a shot.....Realized that they host a lot of hip-hop events and I think it sells well there......

Loved the short but sweet Run for the Roses......then again loved almost everything that night...

Always enjoy midwest crowds being an east coaster......Mellow, fun and friendly.....Also an older crowd which refreshing

Ran into JK's fiancee Katy who was having a blast...Talked to her for a few minutes....She lives near me in DC....... Was a bit taken aback that we flew out for the show, but it is clear that we arent the only ones who travel on occasion.....Also met a cool cool chick named Ann who had never seen DSO or the Dead....A local science teacher, she came by herself to see what all the fuss was about and as blown away......

Have been seeing DSO since near the beginning, but could never wrap my head around travelling for a "cover band".......figured I would just catch them when they were in town...felt validated after Indy NYE a few years back when the show was imo, pedestrian.....However after travelling to Raleigh and NYC and Philly and WV and Vibes and Cincy and several other places in addition to all the great venues in DC/Baltimore, it is clear that I have indeed wrapped my head around it by my actions.....The band is just too fucking good to miss when a getaway opportunity presents itself......

On Sunday drove down to Belterra Casino an hour away to play in a poker tournament.....I busted out in the middle, but my buddy cashed....Then he gave it all back in like 30 minutes at the craps table....Oh the joys of being captive in a casino

Had some Skyline Chili as well.....Interesting to say the least....I kind of liked it, but not sure why..lol

My streak of opportunity=inebriation is intact....Seems everytime the creature comforts of a good venue like Annie's allow for convenient and easy liquor consumption, I invariably avail myself of this "wonderful" opportunity that shouldnt be "wasted" given the hassles at a lot of other venues....The only thing that was semi-wasted was me by the encore.....Fortunately we took a cab.....

All in all a great time...see ya at GOTV!
