I'm through the Greek run and into Saratoga. They really got the impact and bloom on Phil's bass dialed on the remastering. But with the cassette boards Healy was running in that era you can only do so much. '85 is such a unique beast. Surprises around every turn. The return of Stagger Lee. Dupree's. Comes A Time. China Doll, coming off a heavy 1984, in relatively heavy rotation. The introduction of the monstrous She Belongs To Me. Double encores. Songs showing up all over the shows in surprise slots. Jerry's voice mostly back from the '84 period. The huge bust out of Cryptical, although that ranged from tepid to outright weak. I can see why they dropped it. That said, Bill's "uneven" descriptor couldn't be more spot on. It's quite evident even in the highly respected Greek run. I will say that 6/15 set two is an absolute work of art. Looking forward to revisiting the Merriweather shows.

The latest box set from the Dead. Seven shows from Summer Tour 1985 3 Greek, SPAC, Hershey, Merriweather x2. Was waiting for me when I got home from Burlington. Presently spinning 6/16. Mix and performance a little uneven at times, but feeds the wacky sounds and setlists of 1985. Wild Other One following the Cryptical break out. Neat packaging. Anyone else purchase? Thoughts? since you asked Greg, in my opinion, of the 4 shows i saw (new haven thru burlington), it was nothing less than the highlight. they slay LDS, and that whole second set was the best part of a friggin' fantastic 4 show run. too much fun, indeed. p dso

Good God Almighty!!!! What an epic show! Not only was the lineup stacked with heavy hitters, the boys brought supreme effort to the table on each and every one, achieving possibly one of their top ten greatest shows .......or close to it. I'll leave that determination to the pros in here, but to me it was mindblowing! And easily #1 on my short list of shows. "ON FIRE" is putting it mildly! WOW!!! 😃 I truly feel blessed that I was in that room. DSO, THANK YOU for doing what you do!!!!!!! You are a very special group of people! ----- BTW, the first night was GREAT!!! MSG was the goods with the 90’s flashbacks - so short of an undiscovered Gamehenge chapter, anything would be a step down. I heard the playing was formulaic - whatever that really means

For the life of me I can never get straight which Red Rocks '82 Other One contains some of the most explosive Phil insanity ever. They played it twice in the 3 night run. I think it was this night. I went through at least a 1/2 dozen audience tapes looking for a capture that would do it justice, finally landing on the Jamie Poris Nak 700s. So crazy is Phil's barrage that the soundboard doesn't reveal it. The cassette levels must have gone off the meters, because rather than bombs there's just distortion. But the PA did indeed deliver!

I heard the Commerce City, CO were lame.

Loved this! We're always loving the elective sets and this was extremely fun and energetic!
