I think the nights music and energy punched a hole in the sky!
White Rabbit ended. I felt one drop, second and then third. Then the heavens opened up. Washed clean.
Incredible. Felt like the first time at Red Rocks. Yay DSO!!! Love you all. My feet are still swollen from dancing. 😄
One of those perfect nights when I was able to lose myself fully in the music, highlights are a bit tough to recall, it was really lovely the whole way through. Terrapin was special, and it was amazing to hear almost all of Red Rocks get down almost to pin drop quiet during Black Peter. Lisa tore it down with White Rabbit, great to hear that song in that place at the end of the night. The rain held off to within a couple seconds of the final beat of the song, really cool.
The Dead actually did three shows
in 1983 at the Rocks. 9/8/83 was
the third of three. My Red Rocks
show had it all--other worldly venue,
live changing music and loved friends.
To everyone that touched my weekend,
Thank You.
Praise DSO.
Red Rocks is the best. Lots of hype for me leading up to this show and it exceeded my expectations.
That moment of quiet during Black Peter was the most tuned in I've ever experienced a crowd be.
Epic.
Wow what a weekend! Disneyland was NOT the happiest place on Earth. The band on fire and greeting several star heads from days of yore that I haven’t seen in over a decade! Also greeting contemporary tour folks for first time along with the plethora of usual suspects.
First hot and sunny.
Next deluge and coldness
Next rainbows!
Then the moon...
Band playing with lightning dancing on the background.
Then the final deluge
Magic moonlit night and then like Hardpan said,,,first raindrops falling seconds after white rabbit...full on deluge about 5 mins later...thunder, lightning,,,energy...wow what beauty
Loved what I saw from you beauty. Childlike joy and expression.
I think after the Virginia posts. We would be doing our community a disservice by not mentioning that the boys in blue were in full effect here at Pisgah. Additionally the security staff was much more present. They have their reasons for the change here. I am proud of our crowd for mostly keeping it together. I saw no arrests. However I did see a police canine in a big show of force. Under covers inside. A couple people I saw fallout. Staff seemed to take care of it without police involvement.
I will be back next year either way but I hope for the old Pisgah.
