I've been craving my first old school show. It only took 8 years and about 35 shows. This one was a blast and worth the wait! Skip's bass was cranked up in the mix all night, it almost felt like the bass was the lead. A rare treat to get a Mason's - they brought out stands, presumably with the lyrics, for Skip and Eaton. Alligator and the Cryptical thru Cosmic Charlie run were highlights for me, and of course that encore.
Nice switch from the Showbox, which I've never been a big fan of. It was hot as hell though, and no sign of air conditioning. Two doors at the side of the room were open to the ocean breeze, and folks would occasionally go stand by the doors to cool off. There were loads of people sitting up in the balcony, not sure how they could take the heat up there. The floor had plenty of elbow room and tons of smiling faces that looked like they couldn't believe their luck getting this show. The crowd was definitely feeling it, and doing their best to ignore the heat. I must have drank a gallon of water but I still felt like shit yesterday and didn't drive down to Eugene. On one hand, I'm dreading learning what I missed there, but on the other I'm happy to have this show fresh in my mind for a while.
