How I spent my summer vacation. AKA; the Slower Delaware /Merriweather combo.

Started by truckin’ down to Selbeyville, riding on roads that started out as trails used by the local native Americans, every year, to get from the Chester River watershed to the Delaware seashore to celebrate life and eat their seafood. Again, I was an early bird in the parking lot but spent that time breaking bread with Tennessee. The Marbles he was selling were incredible. The boys from Crisfield were there again this year. I was thinking that we might get the show from Great American music hall from ‘76, as it was the anniversary of the original show.    Help/Slip/Frank show opener shoved me down that rabbit hole for a while. As usual, the band settles in and lets the good times roll but it became clear that Eaton was on fire. With Lisa helping on the vocals, I was blown away by Passenger. Unbelievable.
Since I have been getting into farming over the last decade, I have been looking for a Let it Grow. The first notes, sent me back off the rail, looking for dancing room. Found the perfect groove with Bixby’s crew back by the sound board. Finished the night there as I got my first Low Spark. Pretty cool.
Great night and a great show but still not satiated. I danced and shook my bones until my face fell off but still hadn’t cleaned out all the Ugh that had built up since my last show. Not the bands fault, there’s a lot of Ugh out there these days. So, I’m working Saturday as usual but I told myself, I said, Self, if you get the chance, you’re hitting Merriweather. At 2:15, Frank says, it’s up to you, you can go disc that field for a couple of hours, or you can call it a day. I blurted it, call it a day. Flew home, checked the beach traffic over the bridge, good to go there. Go on line, score a ticket. Shower, GPS set, on the road by four. Never was a minute late.
Merriweather hit all the spots. I didn’t look at the set lists to keep the surprise element going. Mississippi half step show opener always great.

I’m on my way! …..

so, as I melt into the show, sometimes I stop dancing and just stand and watch a tune played. So, I’m doing that, on the edge of the crowd, and the guy standing about four feet in front of me, turns around, looks right at me, smiles, and walks on by. It was John K., watching his old band play. That blew my mind. Had to get confirmation from Bill K. As to what I saw. I also saw three shooting stars that night while watching the band and shaking loose. I got what I needed with that show, peaking just as they finished Ripple. Totally nailed the dismount. That’s all, thanks for letting me share.
