It breaks my heart to say this but my traveling days are over, probably for good. Hearing about Cornmeal and Allie sharing the stage again does warm the pieces, though. They were the other band I traveled to see way back when. ❤️❤️

    Chuck? Miss You buddy!

Yeah, same here but no venue like The Hawaii Theater 😉

Maui Cultural Arts Center in kahalui would have been a good venue. I saw Gregory Isaacs there around 1998 Outdoor capacity probably 3 to 4000 people indoors gotta hold 1500-2000. We would have been there if it was Maui... Flying with the puppy just wasn't going to work to hit Oahu then Maui.

Out of 13.  8 week vacations in Hawaii I've never been to Oahu had no desire to go to Oahu don't plan on ever going there. Maui Kauai and the Big Island are my favorites.

Really loved the Tomorrow Never Knows…never thought the GD did any Justice to this song, but Barraco and Lisa were really playing with it in a psychedelic way. 2 voices in the band! No offense everyone else 😜

morning Dee was perfect- par for the DSO course.

     Thank you!!!

I was outside the bowl and didn't hear lyrics on beatles tune. I should've sweat more less pee 😞...

Saw them play this in Rochester, around this time of year 2011

best show of the era IMO

    That was a great show!

Mango you called what show this was on the second song that night. If I remember right original venue couldn't be played and this was in an old firehouse. Turned out to be a perfect venue for a 69 show!

Looking forward to "The Anthem" in Washington DC on the 21st. I've got an extra ticket, a car and looking to see if anyone in the Asheville, NC / Spartanburg, SC would want to share the ride and a few expenses. Message me!

What can anyone tell me about the venue??? Looks like an awesome spot on The Wharf. Should be fun, but anyone with stronger bearings .... what do you know?

    Aiko Aiko

The Anthem is the best indoor venue I have seen Dark Star at. Been there every year and will hope to make it for what is it, fourth time.

Great Sound and friendliest attendants/security. One year after I believe it was help slip Franklin's security saw me leaning against the rail trying to catch my breath before the next song and asked if I needed water I said no a minute later they came up and gave me two bottles of water . Later that night a security woman saw me dancing and came up to me, pulled me off to the side, wanted to talk to me, she asked me if I am going to be all right ? I looked at her and realized she thought I was tripping my ass off . When I told her I hadn't taken any drugs in like 20 years she said sure sure but will you be okay tonight. LOL she couldn't believe somebody could have that much fun without drugs.. If you are not staying too far from the venue take Uber there and back. You will thank me!

  7. Although New Jersey gets a bad rap it is a good place to live. It is the Garden State and not sure how I would fare without Jersey corn and Jersey tomatoes not to mention all the other great fruits and vegetable grown here. I have spent 10 plus years traveling into New York City daily, Manhattan Brooklyn mostly. I would much rather live where I live and travel to the city. It takes just as much time for me to go to the city as to the beach or to Ken Lockwood Gorge or many other areas that are beautiful parts of New Jersey. I couldn't handle living anywhere near a place like "try that small town" I get very nervous when I am surrounded by nothing but Caucasian people. Except at a Grateful Dead like event...

I was referring to FB peeps who demand the band play within 5 miles and don’t think a 1 hour drive is local. Unfortunately with a 2.75yr old, getting on planes are few and far between. But I will be doing 4-5 fall tour shows. Birmingham>Atlanta>Chattanooga then St. Louis and maybe chicago after.
Our small local airport no longer has the 7am flight to chicago that lets us end up anywhere and now only flies to Charlotte. The other option is the 2 hour drive to Nashville which is no biggie if a direct flight. Last year for New Years dso we tried to find a flight that could get us to Albany leaving same day but the best we could find was 1 connection getting us there a few mins before show time. In the old days Philly was great b/c southwest flies there direct and cheap but having to add a travel day makes it too rough on the grandparents. Little boss is a handful.

Airports, decent hospitals, good italian resturants, seafood, cultural arts and culture in general are a few reasons I Haven't moved to the sticks!

I haven’t been on FB for prob 8 years but it’s always funny to read the Tour comments. One that recently made me giggle was someone said “Columbus finally!!!”  I guess Thornville is too long a haul. The northeasters are the greediest. If you don’t have the northeast on every tour those peeps are pissed. But I did learn that New York is way too far for someone from New England to travel b/c of all the hate if there isn’t a show in New Hampshire or Boston.

I haven't heard Northeasterners complaining. I guess it's relative to who you have in your circle 🙂

Rude you can always hop on a plane and go see the band possibly the Northeast where the highest concentrations of deadheads in the nation are!

The programming is done in PHP, and the database is MySQL which is a free, open source database that is owned by Oracle. This combination is probably behind more than half of the sites on the internet, including these forums.

I think it's safe to say that this site wouldn't have been possible 20 years ago! A lot has changed with what can be done in a web browser. My first experience with Oracle in the late 90s was on a computer the size of a refrigerator.

Technology was absolutely available 20-25 years ago. I would have loaded data into a flex grid and written the code in Oracle using sql which would give you endless parameters to search by. Oracle at the time was the premiere relational database. By 2001 this could be done on a laptop.

  11. Rude Best comedy read all week 😆

I have to agree with the guys comment about Revolution Ft Lauderdale being a shitty venue. Worst venue since Starland Ballroom!

I can picture the people that gave those reviews at the shows saying to their friends "I hope they play that good song...

There was a good group of like minded individuals at the jubilee this year. Black Mountain was definitely a special time. I miss the ledges the most. But good things come and good things go. Always more memories to make and more good times to come. Peak still has some of that old school like minded vibe.

The ledges were the best! Jubilee sounded like fun but not a fan of rocks and I've never been one to go to shows for the party. Even when I was into "partying".

My loss sounds like it was great. Now if we can get the rug people onboard maybe...

  14. Doc I meant to call you yesterday to see if you were ok with all the weather coming through your way. Happy you are well. Enjoy the shows. We won't be there, Lexi (shih zhu) operated on last week. She's good but needs blood test every other day for about another week.

  15. The Super 8 used to be very cool before your time rude. Psychedelic dance Fest till the sun came up. The last couple years I was there it was more of a drunken powder Fest and haven't been back since. I miss the days of the like-minded tight-nit community
