  1. https://archive.org/embed/gd1988-03-27.schoeps.unknown.gotfob.88250.sbeok.flac16 Let's not forget Hampton 88 with the first Thin Man and the return of TLMD. This is a really good quality recording. Never miss a Sunday. Security at this series was so lax by the third show we were taking in six packs of brew along with recording equipment and setting up camp on the floor at sweet FOB spot.

  2. Would never have guessed Way To Go Home came out of space 7 times. Thought it was exclusively pre-drums material. God bless humanity for that tune to drive the coveted transition out of space slot. This prompted my own research re: Wave to the Wind. Could it have actually come out of space? Yep. It did so twice. Turns out I actually saw one of them. Better to have blocked that kind of shit out I suppose. There are also 2 occasions of Way To Go Home being followed by Wave to the Wind. Ouch.

  3. I remember clearly, the first night, bringing full cups of beer down to our 2nd row center seats as Scarlet Fire was starting up after set break, spilling as the joyful spinning was beginning, so happy to be with good friends up close for the celebration. Then the second night the coveted High Time gifted to us all in the first. Jerry loved us all so much he just had to play a little dark star to finish off this series.

  4. Funny that I was just yesterday also calculating that it was indeed 30 years ago for those, because I am reuniting with a great friend at the Phish Greek shows that I went “in and out of the Gardens” in Fall 1993, Once I thought for a moment, the math is easy, haha. Right on, Billy - can’t wait until our next show together! 😎 (Get out West, ffs!) 😝🥳 DD

  5. 73/03/28 Springfield Civic Center, Springfield, MA Cumberland Blues, Here Comes Sunshine, Mexicali Blues, Wave That Flag, BIODTL, Loser, Jack Straw, Box of Rain, They Love Each Other, El Paso, Row Jimmy, Around and Around, Brown-Eyed Women, You Ain't Woman Enough, Looks Like Rain, China Cat Sunflower>I Know You Rider. Promised Land, Loose Lucy, Me and My Uncle, Don't Ease Me In, The Race Is On, Stella Blue, Big River, Mississippi Half Step, Weather Report Suite Prelude>Dark Star>Eyes of the World>Playin'. E: Johnny B. Goode For your approval, this colossal thirty song odyssey from East Coat Spring 1973. Only time Cumberland and HCS were ever attached. Seventeen song first has some thing for everyone punctuated by the closing China>Rider. Early second set merely a precursor to the otherworldly closing triad. The Star clocks in at a cool 32:08, going all the way out and back. A showpiece for the band in 1973 glory. Official release Dave's Picks 16. Praise DSO. https://relisten.net/grateful-dead/1973/03/28

  6. I am thrilled that Way2Go and Wave2theWind have created such lively discussion. I cannot resist any musical notes played by Jerry Garcia regardless of the songs they are contained in. Fabulous post DD, funny how 30 years after the fact I find out we were both at the Cap Center that evening. Having Bruce on accordion for the second set probably assisted in on stage juice. Praise DSO.

  7. Indeed, the sort of thing that one may normally whistle past the graveyard in knowing that I happened to attend both of those shows. They were both in 1993. And they were both the 7th out of 7 shows in a row for me. 1. March 18 - Cap Center. The Way2Go>Wave horror was somewhat diminished in that they didn’t take the place of songs, i.e. they followed China>Rider and then got Estimated>Terrapin to follow. Make no mistake, I (likely) wasn’t thrilled at the time, but at least they didn’t shorten the set, at least from a song count standpoint. This set had Bruce on accordion. 2. June 23 - Deer Creek. This show was like a trip on the struggle bus (pun intended), until it wasn’t. After the Way2>Wave was a run of music that everyone here should hear. Terrapin> JAM!> Drums/Space> Dark Star> Wheel> Good Love e: Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds So while Way2Go was sometimes pretty good by this point, Wave2theWind was never on my wishlist. But these shows had some other things to console us, despite that horror… Here’s the Deer Creek show. Get in there today, that jam is a monstrosity. Terrapin as we know it as well as reality begins to be left behind at around the 12-minute mark. https://archive.org/details/gd1993-06-23.sbd.miller.108984.flac16

  10. Let Charlie Morgan of Hyryder do Phil’s vocals for him lol. Some west coasters are gonna get turned on to the silkiest Jerry and Bobby voice in the land.
