  1. Dear Prudence was sublime. Shakedown fantastic as always. End of the Playin proper had a jam that reminded me of Who Was John. And wasn't Skip playing both Whole Lotta Love and Paranoid during space??. Crazy. And a That's What Love encore to top it all off.
  2. Ok so far.. Alabama Bucket West LA Memphis Blues Lazy River Road Esau Blow Away Ramble On Sunrise Music BTW a train was fittingly rolling past the field during Lazy River Road. Couldn't tell if the boxcars we're bright blue. Lisa joined the show after Blow Away. And Music was killer. Set 2 China Cat > Rider She Belongs To Me Lost Sailor > Saint of Circumstance > Drumz > ... Great transition into Rider. Loved the She Belongs To Me. No Lisa in set 2 yet. Oh there was a nice little glow sticks extravaganza in the stands after Rider. In space just now I think we had Dazed and Confused teases... Post-space to come... Drove back to Buffalo and hit the hay before I could finish the post.. Dear Mr. Fantasy > Throwing Stones > World To Give > Saturday Night E: Mr. Charlie C'est La Vie (You Never Can Tell) Lisa returned for Saturday Night (which everyone was dancing at the local skating rink) and the rest. Really good, slightly slower, Mr. Fantasy. And were there Dazed & Confused teases by Skip/others in Space?? At least that's what *I* heard. Great time at the local baseball field today. Crowd was sparse up until 20 minutes to go then it seemed to explode and really fill in. *Sigh* Now I can't wait for the October OH/PA shows!!
  3. So far, if I haven't missed anything: Jack Straw Dupree's (apparently not the Stagger Lee that I originally wrote down lol) Me & My Uncle > Mystery Train Black-Throated Wind Tom Thumb Blues Loose Lucy Passenger Bird Song > Watchtower > Bird Song Notes: After Mystery Train, Barraco tells us this set for us & in the key of E. During Tom Thumb, Skip "started out on Prilosec" and he was going back to Cheecktowaga" I thought Mystery Train and the Watchtower had that extra something. Smooth transition into Train. Very tasty. Set 2 coming up shortly. Woot! Set 2 so far Eyes > Corrina > Till The Morning Comes > Truckin > Drumz > .... Great Eyes and Truckin (up to Buffalo). Truckin had a hard hitting stop/start sorta jam after the big crescendo that I don't think I've EVER heard before. And now the drummers are pounding us into submission. Gotta get back to it! Drumz > Jeff Solo > Space > Miracle > China Doll > GDTRFB E: Viola Lee Blues Awesome Jeff and kinda Close Encounters-ish. The group space was pretty short. Miracle was nice and gnarly. GDTRFB hit on all cylinders. Viola had a rather unusual and purposeful mid-tempo jam before gradually accelerating to warp speed. So great to see this band keeping things fresh, throwing in new wrinkles after all these years. That's why I keep coming. Canalside BTW was a GREAT place to see a show. Loved the video screens, the vendors, the old WWII boats, everything. The sound was top notch tonight too. Can't wait until tomorrow at the ball field.
  4. Disco was real good. Huge pieces of fresh oregano on that. Forgot to mention originally.. where was the Sugaree? By night 3 I thought I had at least one guarantee on Set List Lotto.
  5. Twas a great weekend, and I finally have a chance to port forth a few thoughts, in no particular order. Saturday (5/26) was GREAT music all day. Yes everyday was great, but Saturday was GREAT. Dino's Quintet and Holly Bowling were fantastic. They had a high-class vibe going on that made me drink my beer with pinky fully extended. That was one rough storm, also on Saturday, but we pulled through. Many canopies were turned into twisted metal, and some tents became kites, but everybody kept on keeping on. The Amazing Giants and the Joyful Bubbles are great side entertainment for families and well, everyone, really. Keep bringing 'em back! Those were some of the cleanest Port-o-pottys I've ever seen. Well done! Only at the end were they even the slightest bit rank. Except for Potty #2 by the GA showers that was, well, Number Two'd on top of the seat midday on Saturday, but by evening it was in tip top shape. Thank you to whomever is in charge of keeping those things clean. And to the person who layethed down the evil deed, shame!! Melvin & DSO is one potent combo. Tore Up might have been my favorite song of the whole weekend. Stage banter was hilarious. Good audience recordings are available on archive.org (thanks Toaste!) as well as a matrix of Holly Bowling. What happened to the cold nights of Jubilee '13? I've been sweating my spheres off every year since. Back in '13 I actually wore my winter coat to Night 3... It's weird, but it seems like every Sunday morning, when they're about to do the Kids Parade, the weather is perfect, maybe a little warm like I just mentioned, but the sky is blue, the sun is out, and there's absolutely no rain. Every Sunday morning at the Jubilee looks like every other Sunday morning at the Jubilee. Just beautiful. And if it's the kids that are good luck, then maybe we could have them parade around all weekend long because storms just suck. Oh, and that was one long parade. From the stage all the way thru GA, that I saw. Awesome! I'm buying the SBDs when they come out, always do, but could we also get the other DSO collaborative ensembles?? Dino's group, Mattson/friends, California Kind, and Melvin & five sevenths of DSO were all great and I'd love to hear those boards. Guess that's all I got. GREAT Jubilee '18. It's almost been a week and the memories are so vivid that it still feels like I just left Legend Valley. See ya next year!
  6. Had to leave after the 1st set Sunday (lots to do Monday morning). Saw that there was a lot of rain on the way, according to the radar. Did that rain come, and if so, how hard? Sunday was supposed to be the bad weather day, but it wasn't bad all at, unless it finally came during set 2. GREAT shows though. Loved all the old stuff the first two nights.
