Damnā¦got the call yesterdayā¦hadnāt checked the forums yetā¦still digesting⦠ouch Had the opportunity to be with Aaron a handful of timesā¦not a ton, but enough to appreciate him and his presence whenever he was aroundā¦One time in Eugene he reached out to go get dinner before the show and we had some great one on one time eating sushi and swapping stories ⦠he insisted on paying for it, saying that he was having a good year financially and wanted to spread it around a bitā¦wouldnāt even let me pay the tip. Sweet, kind southern boy underneath the Rude part,,with a lot to say and think about⦠It is a sad loss,,.I feel so bad for his son who now will grow up with no father,,and for Meilli to have to face this painful and complicated loss⦠Iām sad that he apparently had so much internal pain and struggle, perhaps isolation, that led to this tragic outcome ā¦I hope your soul has found peace now Aaron,,you will be missedā¦the memories of your grin and high energy dance moves are now a treasure⦠peace to you, brother. šš¼š

Yeah thatās a curious one. Obviously countless 1st set closers,,,but a quick search on grateful sets reveals that this show was indeed the only time they ever closed a show with Donāt Ease. https://www.gratefulsets.net

I vote for Tea,,he gets it, loves it, and explains it all so simply š Enjoy Milwaukee!
-
Thx Tea,, Sounds like a sweet spotā¦wonder if this increases attendance numbers a bit and opportunity for those who havenāt been before to get in on it all at same resort locationā¦and yet maintains the intimate vibeā¦

Sounds awesome,,love the lovebirds set list,, Congrats Rick, Whitney, and famā¦sweet moment!

Havenāt seen yet but been hearing very positive reports. meanwhile I caught a couple more Garcia Project shows last week and I thoroughly dig how they tend to Jerry Bandā¦seems like theyāre getting better and betterā¦my fav JGB band out there at this point.

And the filler actually started with Next Time You See Me for the quad pack filler⦠ātwas such a doozy⦠All I can say is what a gift it is to have the opportunity to visit the dreamy space where there is a fountain that was not made by the hands of men⦠May we all continue to be able to return there to fill our cups ā„ļø

Absolute barn burner roof blowout kinda showā¦kickass outta the gate and all the way throughā¦game onā¦My oh my⦠Awesome to get Gr8fulpair and fam out in these parts for 2 in Seattle and meet his son catching his first DSO showsā¦heāll clearly be heading to many more I think š¤

Thanks for Chiming in Mik⦠Love what you guys have been up to and have caught a few of your shows in recent years and thoroughly enjoyedā¦looking forward to a few more up the NW next month! Thanks for getting out there and keeping that music rolling 𤩠-
I deduce that OtherOne is referring to Garcia Birthday Band from Portlandā¦they just played at the Crystal Ballroom to honor the 2/2/68 and 2/3/68 Crystal Ballroom showsā¦I bet it was fun š

Yeah Tea, exactly. He started the set off with the acoustic for the Dupreeās and somewhere mid Mountains switched to electric as the jam drifted toward the Dark Starā¦. And there was Cosmic Charlie to open the encore filler before the Hard to Handle (not before Bid you Goodnight) That has absolutely got to be the best Monday night this here sack of bones has ever experiencedā¦holy sheesh,,Ventura got the goods in a very cool small intimate venue (640 peeps) Full throttle all band craftsmanship leading the night through the most peculiar and wondrous caverns of outer space⦠Skip was absolutely on fire and exercising leadership throughout the night on so many of the jamsā¦driving the train through such fantastic old school grease pits⦠Skip and Barracco were dialed in together tightly and carving all sorts of new ground together and clearly enjoying the hell out of it togetherā¦Those two held down and launched out a lot of the jams throughout the night and Barraco fully brought in the spirit of pigpen to the maxā¦King Beeā¦ahhhhhhhhā¦.Hey Judeā¦ahhhhhhhā¦.lovelightā¦ahhhhhhh Note that this show was the first of just 2 times (both 69) that Pigpen sang Hey Judeā¦and didnāt show up again til late Brent era. extremely thankful that our timing included this show on a Monday night after the 2 rippin electives in Del Mar and LAā¦back outta the game now til Seattle/portland⦠Thanks for such a good time down here in SoCal!!!!

And back into Uncle Johnās after Imagine/before world to Give⦠š¤

Yes the opening duo thoroughly helped the night lift right offā¦love getting Let it Rock. The whole set had me hooked and the Gimme Some Lovin drop into All Over Now was brilliant followed by a thorough and raukus Tangledā¦ahhh Stranger ripped and Shining Star was just other worldly gorgeous beauty with Lisa belting it out along with Jeffā¦damn⦠then dropped into a super slinky slow take your time jam into Not Fade āquite 76 style leaking over from Phoenix show it felt likeā¦perfection⦠It all rocked through set and New Speedway outta space ripped hard and then back into more beauty heart space with Two Soulsā¦damn this show was just what the doctor ordered with plenty of complex playing and jamming to chomp on⦠First show since July Greekā¦think I can lose access a bit to just how good it can be until Iām back in front of it againā¦ahhhhhhhhhhhh
-
Back in to NFA after Throwing Stones⦠Wowā¦.thoroughly loved this show all the way through⦠The room was not the same after Shining Starā¦wide open heartfelt beautyā¦

Fantastic 76er after the hiatusā¦love that show. This was the first Cosmic Charlie since 1/21/71 and just 5 more showed up ending with the one Tea mentioned⦠Those Cosmic Chucks and Mission in the Rains (just played 5 times with GD, all in 76) help make 76 unique Although this 6/4/76 show was only show which had both of those beauties in same showā¦.š Glad you got a beauty DD!
