  1. I knew you'd come through the the stats Tea!!! 3/19/77 Winterland = one of my favorite Franklin's.
  2. Oh I had to also mention that the Vic is officially the worst venue I've been too. Beautiful theater. Primitive policies. Generally unfriendly staff.
  3. Great show. Tons of fun. Can't help but to smile when you hear a La Bamba. Sorry Jer, Jeff's spanish is better than yours. How many La Bamba's has DSO performed? Anyone know. Didn't the Dead only do it like 3 times? Feel>Franklin's is a wonderful way to start a show. I also thought that 10-8-89 was the first Franklin's in 6 years or whatever. That must have been the first Help>Slip>Frank suite. Or I just don't know what I'm talking about on that, which is very possible. Anyway, I love Franklin's early in a show. Gets the crowd and the band moving and having a good time!
  4. The time has come...
  5. Solid second set featuring a very serious Eyes and Sampson as well as an epic NFA>Truckin to end the set. I commented that I've seen a few too many NFA's in the past month and a half, but this one was very interesting and kinda unique. I'm going to have to check some Dead versions from late 77-78 and see if they were doing this unique segment that the band was doing last night. I like this venue, aside from the asshole door guys. Dance floor is huge with tons of room for people to get down. Nice outdoor area where you can bring your beverages. American Eagle needs to build a stage in Cleveland. We have several great venues in Cleveland that would be much more appropriate for our crowd and I've always wondered why they play the House of Blues, which isn't bad but has an absolutely atrocious design which doesn't allow good sight lines to the stage or sound lines to the speakers. Unfortunately the places I'm thinking of are just a little too big for DSO.
  6. That's unfortunate, but in today's case an 8pm start actually helps us, although I think we'll still arrive an hour early.. Good news is the inside had plenty of space for dancing last year.
  7. I have heard so many mixed reviews of this stop. From "it's a shit hole" to "it's great" to "it's a shit hole, but it's OUR shit hole" I guess not all beach venues are created equal.
  8. I enjoyed this show a lot last year, even though it was on the indoor stage. Great sound and lots of room to dance. Nice and dark. They have an outdoor stage too which looks fantastic. Hopefully they open up the outside stage, weather permitting.
  9. Well that is pretty lame.
  10. No dancing space? It's a small stadium is it not? They should be able to fit the whole crowd right on the field. I don't get it?
  11. It appears there is plenty of room for both Dead & Co and DSO in this world. Dead & Co are filling amphitheaters and stadiums. DSO draws more people now than at any time since I've been seeing them. Both are attracting new and younger fans and both are appeasing the old ones. More enthusiasts of this music and the lifestyle it inspires will allow it to live on... and that is something it simply must do! America needs the Grateful Dead! I recall reading an article where Jerry described the deadhead community as 'people trying to live with as few rules as possible and trying to just be as fair as they possibly can with each other' Based on that definition, I think the world needs as many deadheads as possible.
  12. What a great show and great venue! Shout out to Ohio for bringing it! The two DSO events in Ohio so far this year have practically been free-for-alls and in the case of Springfield, it was literally FREE for all! Ohioans just don't give a fuck! Deflate the beach ball and get bitch slapped Little Bobby B! Ohio must rank high in Rude's "states with the most serious Deadheads" category Riveredge and Springfield are going to sustain me well until August comes! See y'all in Rochester or Pittsburgh maybe?
  13. Just yanking your crank Rude. You're hell bent on creating a rank and file system for categorizing Deadheads though. I mean, you have implemented a belt system. You should write a book now outlining a point system or the like. I'm really curious what my Dead score would be. See you in Chicago.
  14. Thanks for this valuable info! I got 5 on it!
  15. I'm bringing my chair as well and sitting right by Rude. I've heard a lot of rambling about "locals in chairs" as if there's something wrong with that. When in Cleveland, I'm a local. And if I want to sit in a chair that night then I have every right! There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with people who want to bring chairs or have a leisurely concert experience. That makes them no less worthy of the music or the experience. Nor are they in any way less dedicated to the scene or inferior deadheads. Some people are older or have medical conditions that keep them from dancing. I sincerely hope that none of my friends or myself are ever so physically compromised that they do not have a choice. Also, we should go up and thank all those locals who come with chairs! THEY ALLOW THIS BAND TO CONTINUE! You think the band could afford to operate on the ticket sales generated from tour heads and people doing 6-12 shows a year? That's like 5% of the crowd, if that. The band, as well as us, depend on locals coming to keep the bus rolling.
