Yea, reckoning is my favorite too. You can put it on and forget about it, just listen right on through. It’s my ‘go to’ for non Dead heads. 9 of the 16 songs were played the night I was there. ‘Monkey and the engineer’ was actually from that night. My shroom mates buddy was at the show in San Fran where ‘Ripple’ was played. When they say ‘that’s Otis’ , that was , I think, Bobby’s dog running across the stage. Jerry does some of the gentlest picking on ‘to lay me down’. I gave my copy to a 62 year old guy I worked with who was into bluegrass. He taught himself ‘ripple’ on the guitar. He’s now pushing 80 and does open mic nights in the area. I love it.

Yeah that tlmd is incredible as is the jack a roe but it's definitely the ripple That's the real treat on it

Oh, one more thing that we learned about those acoustic shows. That was the first time in ten years and they said they would never play acoustic again. Time proved that to be true outside of a couple of shows. 82?

Reckoning just might be my favorite or if not then definitely the most played of the dead releases not counting dicks picks

I remember, I think it was RFK stadium ‘95. The audience chant had three different epicenters. It was kinda funny. I guess the venue was too big. I think NFA was the epitome of fan participation.

One of my favs is the wooo hoo's in music never stopped after each first line in the verses

That explains it i enjoy Dylan but I'm not familiar with his entire catalog but very few can write songs like him, my brother used to say i wouldn't doubt he wrote the abc's

At set break a guy in the bathroom assured me this was a 1980’s set list. He’s like they will open 2nd set with hell in a bucket. Always get a good chuckle in the bathroom at setbreaks. The audience was confused at times but really energetic. Took several home town friends up there and there was a convo about did dead ever play heavy metal. Last night at many times, I’d consider that heavy metal music. At least for 69, it was as heavy metal as there was at points in that second set. The really intense, loud, feedback points made the crowd frenzied and people were looking around with huge smiles thinking are you believing this. My new dead buddy heard a style he’d never heard and loved it. Hearing a 69 on cd vs live is a completely different animal. They played loud. And I had the audacity to bash the Mercury ballrooms sound. This time though we were middle up close and it sounded phenomenal. Dancing upstairs dodnt hsve the sound even though this year they didn’t let us upstairs unless you paid an extra $30. So glad they didn’t let us up there because the sound was down low. I thought they were going into caution 2x. I even wrote down caution at one point then had to erase it realizing it was stilll Jan from the song.

Outstanding. The funny thing was early on the gf, now understanding eras to an extent, was praying for an eleven nonstop as it’s her fav current song to Dance to. I’m like it will probably be followed by a Stephen so the second they started Stephen it was on.

I was so fatigued but not in any pain. That’s reallu good news. Only doing 2 Midwest shows seems sinful. Next year will be my year!! ;)  But I did get that one. That was a doozy. I think I’m on a roll of like 6 of the last 8 69’s or something close to that.

That's hilarious an 80s setlistl, i would've said to him i got a Benjamin if you can show me an 80s rag let alone h2h or new Orleans

I highly recommend the movie Baby Driver.  Fantastic soundtrack as music is a key part of the movie and just a bad ass movie in general. It's a theater must see. Don't read anything about it. Just go in blind. It's stylish intense action/suspense. That's all you need to know. Im an ultra rough movie critic and this movie was stellar. I think being a GD fan makes us expect perfection a little more with our art than other people who are ok with disposable art like much of today's pop music.

So i seen your post and have heard a buzz going around about it so i downloaded an app on android devices called HD movies and they have all new movies free no commercials, the soundtrack play's so well with this movie but your right in that this is definitely one of the better action movies to come along in quite awhile in fact Hollywood should take notes here.

Newbie here. I was at the Friday night show and I wish I'd have gone to Saturday too. What's not to like about a 77 show.

I was surprised by their Friday night setlist.  I figured they'd be playing setlists from the 2/16 & 2/17/82 shows. Last time I saw them was sf in 2015 at which time I think we're still playing setlist from same date in history. When did they start the elective setlists?

Anyway, Friday setlist was pretty cool.  I don't recall I've ever heard help>slip>stranger before. The slip>stranger  was a very creative tease.  In slipknot, Franklin's was ever so gradually emerging into focus when whammo! Full on stranger.  I laughed in delight.

Otoh, I've never been able to acquire a taste for the Brent songs, try as I have. Good excuse for a bathroom break.   I like Brent in the mix of dead songs a lot however.

Second sets for me tend to be the face melters. This second set was just that until tangled and Quinn.  Maybe some day tangled, Quinn, or Brent songs will hit just right and I'll be forever hooked.

I've only seen DSO twice, but the way they do space is just amazing.  Most of the second set was a seamless jam. Wow! I'm getting chills as I write this.

Anyway,  I'm rambling.  All in all a very creative and unpredictable setlist.   Great time.  On to Phil lesh and friends tomorrow night at txr. Yeah!

    Welcome to our world
