  1. The quality of playing at this show was unique and powerful.. ultra control - Never going crazy far out on any limbs, but as tight as I've maybe ever seen them. Stranger in particular stands out but the whole show was just right fuckin there. I cannot wait to hear this and Seattle again to compare and see how tangible this stark difference I felt actually is. Except for the cigarettes on the casino floor, I've always loved this venue - Fun place, low stage with no rail, and sounds wonderful. I still can't believe sometimes that the universe is letting us get away with this. Praise DSO and all that keep this going.

  2. 91/02/19 Oakland Coliseum, Oakland, CA Bertha>Greatest Story, Althea, Queen Jane, Ramble, Picasso Moon, Peggy-o, Cassidy>New Speedway Boogie. China>Rider, Truckin'>Crazy Fingers>Jam>D>S>Wheel> Watchtower>Black Pete>Sugar Magnolia. E: U S Blues. without Bruce Hornsby last New Speedway 70/09/20 [1371] Opening chapter of the 1991 book, 77 in all. Well rested and in familiar surroundings, the boys find the form quickly. Well executed Althea, MIDI rich Ramble, a spirited New Speedway on point for the break out, played 30 total times including this one. Second set full of chunky goodness, the Jam into drums interesting, Sugar Mags a certified set closer. Safe travels and enjoy Tempe West Coasters. Praise DSO.

  3. Surely seems like it, as Jer's aim was to emulate the "Bakersfield sound" - but he also made use of the Strat's middle pickup, and the Alembic "strat-o-blaster" preamp helped maintain consistent volume, especially when he used a wah-wah pedal.
