  1. I was also there and neither of the guest appearances detracted from the DSO performance. When Weir came out Saturday night, they had already played three jammed-out songs. Weir’s guest slot didn’t cost us any headiness. It DID add to the family vibe, though. It was a great time and a darn good show.

  2. Peter Rowan was great. Everyone should go see him at Jubilee. Bob’s 5th time with DSO and first since (as PoetryGirl mentioned) 2014. Were they the best DSO shows I’ve ever seen? Maybe not. But it was a very special weekend at a very special place. I feel blessed to have been there.

  4. Instead of a band I just seen, how about a plug for a band I am going to see? Frankly Scarlet, a GD Cover Band playing in Atlanta on 12 Feb at Smith's Olde Bar. Make it if you can!

  6. Pat Metheny Side Eye Project! Thomas Wolfe Auditorium with James Francies on keys of Houston and Joe Dyson on Drums and of course the orchestrion. Wow truly inspired playing by his bandmates. Monstrous! What I've got is...... Have you heard? Antonio Message to a Friend It Starts When We Disappear Timeline When We were Free A dissonant crazy Ornette Coleman song Acoustic melody with This is Not America and Last Train Home included. I think the final exam for a new crew member is can you tune the Picasso guitar? 😉 I did get run over by a spotlight during "It Starts When We Disappear". jeez. It was strong and came right at me. 🤪

  7. While that's definitely some statistical abuse, it could be worse... If you'd hopped on tour after William & Mary '78, and you happened to miss the Landover show in Fall '79, you could have gone almost 150 shows without a Dew!

  9. That is the worst analogy I’ve ever heard. Bobby being on stage didn’t cost dso a shot in the jam band finals. This is music, not a scored sport. The creator of this music sat in and for 40 minutes they played a slightly different style of music with a legend. You’d likely hate jazz fest as at 2am on Frenchmen St there are tons of collaborations where a member from 5 different bands come together to do something different. My suggestion is see more shows. The more you see, the more you crave something like this that’s a bit different. Gr8fulpair and I freaking loved when Donna joined the band in Birmingham for a Jerry band show. We saw something unique. Bobby has joined the band like 3x or so ever?

  12. Saw The Alligators and Universe Peoples last night. Both SoCal bands. The Alligators will be the house band at Skull and Roses Festival. They were a lot of fun. Front man is part Belushi, part Pigpen. I’m surprised he didn’t whip his member out at some point haha. Quite gregarious. Occasionally bangs the gong at the back of the stage. They did some Katie Mae lyrics over Minglewood Blues, which was surprisingly good. Their whole set was surprisingly good and a lot of fun. Lead guitarist was damn good. Yes, they played Alligator. Fun stuff. Universe Peoples had some good things, but didn’t gel for us so we bailed after a few tunes.
