I hope you feel better soon, Brian! Some funky, upper respiratory, multi-day high fever bug making the rounds. I hope 2025 gets off to a much better start than 2024 is ending

Those 1st round games were dog food. That SMU 1st half may have been the worst performance I’ve ever seen from a football team. High stakes game to boot. Indiana was clearly not ready for primetime. That coach was as tight as a drum all game. Clemson got pushed around all nite long save for a couple plays late. Tennessee wasn’t ready for the moment. Makes me think OSU just forgot to try when they played Michigan I don’t care about all the conference talk - I just wanted competitive games. Instead, I got coal in my stocking 👎

It appears there's a 'new' show that was transferred and uploaded from an 8-track tape. Here are the particulars from the uploader: This was one of two miracles (and all on the same 8-track tape) that I had in my collection that I finally got around to transferring (not believing that it was what it said it was). Boy oh boy was I surprised when I found out that not only some head in the 70's made a bootleg 8-track tape but that it had material no one had heard before (more to come...). So here it is as essentially a raw transfer just slight editing to make each track transition smooth all done using Roxio Sound Editor (2009). Tracklist 01 The Same Thing 02 New Minglewood Blues 03 Nobody's Fault But Mine 04 Beat It On Down the Line 05 Next Time You See Me 06 It's All Over Now, Baby Blue 07 Viola Lee Blues // https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zE0IVkMlzsI From this discovery, it appears that there is also a previously uncirculated version of 8/5/67: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKf4973_bhU (Reel to Reel?) to 8-Track Tape to Zenith 8-Track Player (analoge out) to Digital Input / Protools Capture to 15H kps / 48 kHz .wav file to Flac Thanks to Brian Flegel for this transfer Tracklist: Matinee Show 01 //Deep Elem Blues 02 Cold Rain and Snow 03 Big Boss Man 04 That's It For The Other One * (first recording in circulation) 05 {Tuning / Stage Banter} 06 I Know You Rider // Evening Show 07 {Stage Banter / Tuning} 08 Dancing in the Streets 09 {Stage Banter / Tuning} 10 Morning Dew 11 It Hurts Me Too 12 Cold Rain and Snow 13 {Stage Banter / Tuning} 14 Turn On Your Lovelight // I'm not an audiophile but I suspect those that are will find this to be an interesting development!

12/12/90 - Can't believe it was 34 years ago. My twin and I had one of the most amazing musical and spiritual experiences this night. That experience had such a profound impact on us both that we efforted to listen to the show together every year on 12/12. Keith > This is the very definition of bittersweet. The memory of that time together still holds a special place in my heart - I'm just sad we can't share that experience anymore. God damn - I miss you so much. A piece of me died with you, and your memory is all I have to fill that hole. It's going to have to be good enough even though it's not. I love you 💓

No. I want to harp on the Bama AD being a bleeping loser for his stupid comment. I just don’t like the attitude that a spot in the CFP is a birthright because they reside in the vaunted SEC. Sanctimonious bullshit triggers me a little…

Pretty cool stuff! Here's Queen Latifa giving Shakedown Street a go: https://www.instagram.com/reel/DDXGIlmxDkc/?igsh=enMyNHF4dzQyanI4 I think she handled it capably despite it being really weird to see The 47th Annual Kennedy Center Honors will air on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ on Dec. 22 at 8:30 p.m.

Update: So this genius says they have really take a hard look at future scheduling of P4 nonconference games and that makes it bad for CFB. Oh, ok. You do know that ALL of Alabama's losses were in-conference, right? Did you forget Oklahoma is in the SEC now? Alabama's non-conference slate this year was: Western KY, South Florida, Wisconsin, and Mercer. That's murderer's row right there The Alabama braintrust hard at work.

Bama gets left out and the AD immediately says, "We have said that we would need to see how strength of schedule would be evaluated by the CFP," Byrne wrote. "With this outcome, we will need to asses how many P4 nonconference games make sense in the future to put us in the best position to participate in the CFP. That is not good for college football." He means, Alabama not being good enough to make it to a 12-team playoff is bad for the sport. GTFO with that.... My other favorite quote of the weekend came from Kirby Smart in the SEC championship postgame, "Well it means rest for a team that Greg Sankey and his staff sent on the road all year long, we get to take a little bit of a break and get ready for the College Football Playoff," Smart said postgame with Sankey a few feet away on the same stage. "This team needs some rest mentally, need a little time." Wait, what? Georgia played 4 road games. How many road games did every other team in the SEC play? 4. Where was the SEC championship game? In Georgia. The SEC has been the gold standard in CFB for decades, but I still get triggered by the entitlement and elitism. I hope the games are entertaining, and while it may not come to fruition, I hope the SEC takes it up the tailpipe.

Wish I knew. We do know this show was originally billed as ‘3 sets of the Grateful Dead.’ Unfortunately, during Casey Jones, a security guard started pounding on a fan for crossing over the front barrier. Billy jumped in to break it up and started getting pummeled himself. We get the famous bark from Phil: Ok, asshole, Ok asshole, you’re through!” Hard not to have something like this take the wind out of your sails. The effort on Saturday Night confirmed as much and they threw in the towel. I postulate that the reason for the long Bobby run is because it was going to be Jerry’s turn for a long run in set 3. I can only imagine what he may have had in store….

Hence the Your Kinda Zoo tag. Now we know. Pace of play has been tough save for summer 2023. It wasn’t perfect then either, but I had some blown away moments. Sugaree, Althea, Bird Song, Easy Wind were strong songs for them and I got ‘em all in 1 show. Tipped my cap to ‘em all that night.

The more experience the Lions have with winning different ways, the better the final outcome. Dan Campbell has some big balls. So do the Lions. Even with that IR roster on D

I hope Alabama gets dragged. Not a popular opinion and it’s not backed up by Rude metrics but the SEC isn’t as good as the committee thinks they are. This ain’t the 2010’s no mo

Miami is a victim of recency-bias losing 2 of their 3 but they really only have themselves to blame with the schedule they had. Bama gets humbled by a bad OK team (decent defense) and scores only 3 points for their 3rd loss of the season. Miami's 2 losses were by a combined 9 points. I have to remember that the CFB playoff should really be named CFP/ESPN invitational. Bama has ultimate name recognition which makes the matchups seem more sexy. Would you rather watch a game featuring a QB in Milroe who is pedestrian at best and can struggle to generate chunk/scoring plays for long strethces? OR a Miami team with a top-5 offense (#1 in points-per-game) and a QB who is 2nd in the country in passing yards. Sure, Miami can't stop anyone but I'd rather have a fun track meet like 48-45 than a 17-13 slog. While I still agree that the SEC is still the best conference in football, the disparity between #1 and #2 is as small as it's ever been. NIL and the Portal has disbursed the CFB talent more thoroughly across the Power 5. It's why Saban bailed.
