  1. Estimated and family drums were musical highlights but the filled venue was the star for me. I too can remember the shows where you didn't need the hundreds place when counting the faces...at least at the Bluebird you can count on it being a one drummer show! Although there were 9000+ in attendance I roamed around and ran into the dozen or so (which represents 1000's of DSO "man shows") I tend to always run into if present. No use worrying about patronizing, self serving, or being concerned of what others may think...the band deserved this, and yes so did we. So as it has been these many years, I am on my way home to patch my bones so I can get back truckin on. Glad to see you...been awhile. Remember when I first started seeing DSO in earnest and wondering who the guy dancing at all the shows was...an integral link in the unbroken chain.
  2. Always yummy Michelle there too
  3. The oxymoron of an intimate festival exists here. Lots of not my first rodeo folks. Old friends, new ones. Many children. One stage one band at a time. Hear from anywhere. The music. Hassleless. Holly Bowling seemingly played keys with three hands at times. 3.5 DSO shows counting Melvin! Every band...really.
  4. I thought it was an Eleven tease.
  5. Personally, the most important day in Grateful Dead history as the bus came by and I got on.... 5/4/77 Palladium NYC Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo > Big River, They Love Each Other, New Minglewood Blues, It Must Have Been The Roses, Cassidy, Deal, Looks Like Rain, Brown Eyed Women, Dancing In The Street Estimated Prophet, Scarlet Begonias-> Fire On The Mountain, Terrapin Station-> Playin' In The Band-> Comes A Time-> Playin' In The Band Wow!!!!! 41 years....where does the time go?
  6. Thought I heard $50

    Asheville 4-10

Dead tickets were way harder to come by than JGB tickets when the bus first came by my way in 77...but roommate in college convinced me to see Jerry band many times cause you get in the first 10 rows easy for like $6.50...AND SEE JERRY!!!! In retrospect.....smart, very smart
  8. I was at entire dead show.
  9. I know this happened because I was at Lakefront Arena in New Orleans to see this encore (followed by Bangles and Neville Bros. performing Knockin on Heavens Door). Bangles opened for George Michael the same evening at Superdome
  10. Regarding kids on the rail... I was right behind them and they had a blast, especially with the balloons and glow sticks. I pointed out the importance of dancing. I do think it is important for kids to see adult "play". On the darker side, at some point during the second set a stranger came down to the rail seemingly more interested in the children...and one boy in particular,...then the music. This was picked on by myself and a fellow DSO aficionado dancing next to me and in all seriousness pedophile flags were up!! Using my vast experience of being near rail, I instinctively just went into my mean elbows flying mode of dancing and without saying a word convinced him to leave the area...like I do when wandering drunks approach the rail. Sad sign of the times....unfortunately for all the talk on this thread of how cool it is to have families and kids around it also attracts this.
  11. Been to every DSO show at this stellar venue and will be there in a few hours....as previously mentioned about lawn chairs there: Same old story so it's been told...the chairs will disappear when the "regulars" at the park realize there are several sections I.e. "Wind" that are not part of this orchestra. Regarding alcohol...Since they now sell beer at the venue they of course frown upon bringing your own. Give a $ to the hat when they pass it around or even spare change.
  12. Oh yea, first time they played there...lawn chairs set up even close to stage on theoretical dance floor...thought at 10 AM when I was checking scene out how odd. Every year after after same routine...they won't last long lol, never did. No worries about making good showing...look around during middle second set...wow...give 5 bucks for the local charity...show is free! If you know how check out my more contemporaneous comments on this venue. Rambling I know but excited for Tues
  13. So glad it has returned...will b there
