Thanks to everyone for taking the time to read this and letting me share about someone who enjoyed DSO and music like all of us here. gr8fulpair and tea thanks for the kind words my friends, haven’t seen you guys in too long…and I know well be there soon….and can’t wait…..but I feel the love from everyone who commented and who feel like Frank was someone we all know who’s a shining light in our life……thank you again everyone. love is real

I said goodbye to someone this week who meant a whole lot to me. He was a father, husband, uncle, grandfather, an animal lover and to me he was a mentor, a father figure, a brother, a deadhead that went back to the 70’s but mostly Frank was my close friend. I met Frank in 2007 as I entered the fire department and he was my original Captain of the house. On our lockers we all have stickers and stupid stuff but on the front of his locker was a JGB sticker. I said wow my captain is a deadhead with such delight. In 2010 I organized a bunch of us including Captain Frank to go see DSO. He already seen them and so had I. Some of the guys not into the dead the least bit, some knew a few songs but me Frank and 2 other guys were there for the music. Everyone had a blast. Some of you out there know me and have met Frank a few times. We went to many many DsO shows throughout the years together. He alway wanted to make JITS but never found the way to get there after retiring at 65 and having health issues, but he still made DSO shows in NJ and NY as best he could. He was a true warrior. he played the saxophone in a local band called American beauty , I used to go to the jam sessions and sit in the tiny room and listen to them rock out for the 3 hours they had the space rented. He played in the Capitol Theatre in the 70s with one of his bands and was so proud of that. He used to say to me some nights, listen man some people complain about the dead being dead after Jerry. When I close my eyes I listen to DSO it’s there and it’s as close as anyone will ever get man. This band is the real deal. I loved hearing him reminisce about his old days. He was a treasure and special. One night we went to DSO with friends of his. They drove. One woman got sick and had to leave. Her husband wanted to drive the woman home at set break. So I said Frank im gonna stay I’ll get home you can get a ride with them. He said no way brother im staying with you. This is a 74 year old man, 35 year FDNY veteran, hobbled and recovering from multiple illness…..stood right by with me. Love you bro Captain Frank was a sweet loving gentlemen from an era of love. He showed it at work to all of us everyday at the firehouse. He showed it at shows when he spoke to people and he showed it when he played his beloved sax. Frank passed away on Jerry birthday. I think that’s fitting. I listen to Sirius XM channel 23 pretty much everyday I’m in the car. The days between show had started that morning and we usually talk. weirdly i hadn’t heard from him I said let me call him and see how he’s doing (he had multiple health things going on). An hour later I got the news. The next week I found some solace in mostly JGB band on channel 23 in the car. Im gonna miss him more than words can tell. He did give me a huge amount to live off of. At the firehouse, at shows, and just being a good human being. i Love you brother, im gonna miss you tremendously. Your hugs, smile, telling me you loved DSO after the show. I hope you’re playing the sax up there talking to Jerry looking down on all of us. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this , Frank was one of us.

Got in my car before and most of the time channel 23 on Sirius radio is on and in big words it said RIP BOB WEIR. Big Steve was talking about Bobby. Super sad and bummed out. I wanna share something here. Dark star on Saturday played masterpiece and I was really diggin the Dylan jams( 4th street ) as well. Now I’m thinking about the Cassidy, it was so powerful. So On Sirius today around 2pm they played Jerry and John khan version of masterpiece. so it made me recap the shows at the Capitol this past weekend were so amazing as always but for some reason these certain songs stuck out. My good friend with me had told me his sister favorite song is positively 4th street to add to it. Eventho they are Dylan songs, masterpiece is a Bobby number when it comes to the dead. As I’m thinking this I was a little mad I didn’t make the GD 60 due to traveling with the rest of my family and said I would like to see Bobby again soon. Then I find out 6 hours later hes gone. Found this very WEIRd in a way as only we could understand… I think it was the “Long strange trip” documentary Bobby said he thinks been on stage more than any guitarist in history. I didn’t do the math but it sounds right. Starting with the dead and everything in between and after the dead. It’s an insane amount of hours on stage. What a gem of a musician we've been blessed to have had in our lives. He’s finally back with his best friend and everyone else. RIP to “the kid” Bob Weir thanks for everything. Been a rough few years. Phil Donna Bob. Not fade away it’s pouring outside my house….for it surely looks like rain.

JGB setlist elective?? Wow i love this. I just checked in to see the setlist and dear prudence just came on, 1980 Capitol theater. not the Cap. The jersey capitol see you guys next week for a few nights. Can’t wait . Feel better Rob

This has become one of my favorite venues. My son has a blast running around with the kids, dancing around… and when the weathers nice there’s nothing better. unbelievable second set. As always excellent show…Thank you guys

Uncle John’s Band, Me and Bobby McGee, Dire Wolf, Katie Mae, When I Paint My Masterpiece, Jack a Roe, Helpless, On the Road Again, Duncan and Brady, It Makes No Difference*, Bird Song* SET 2 Box of Rain*, It Takes a Lot to Laugh It Takes a Train to Cry*, Black Throated Wind*, Wake Up Little Susie*, Viola Lee Blues*, Deep Elem Blues*, Long Black Veil*, Throwing Stones*>Folsom Prison Blues* ENCORE: Ripple* Very cool show, my first time there it was a little tight upstairs. And you can’t go to the bar only table service which is annoying. But it didn’t matter these guys were on fire. it makes no difference was so so good. Spoke with Skip for a few afterwards he said they might try to do some more of this 3 man acoustic which would be awesome. The whole show was beautifully done thank you for that guys

Been on my mind since it happened and got the call. Met Aaron at black mountain for the first time I think 8 or 9 years ago. One of the best weekends of friends and music in my life. Just like the rest of you southern boys he was very welcoming into the crew having just met me and we all became friends. He was very impressed with my ability to smuggle booze into shows. He showed me his version but liked mine better. Of course we shared it during the show. I hadn’t seen him in awhile but we kept in touch through text and calls, and here on the forums. We shared a hatred of each others football teams me being a Giants fan and him Cowboys. He had been having a lot more to brag about the past decade than me by far. I would always say you southern boys gotta get up to the Capitol one of these days and spend a weekend. He liked how I said Portchestuhh. It saddens me greatly that this will never happen now. I was waiting for the day for it. This one hurts. Gonna miss his wild rants here. It hurts that I won’t see his tall lanky ass at a show again. We shared pics of our young sons at their first shows and talked about fatherhood and how great and life changing it is. His son is on my mind. Makes me happy to have known him. Gonna miss you man RIP Rudedog rude Aaron

2 nights of THE BROTHERS at msg. I wish this band played together more often and maybe they will. Warren Hayes is the man as he did mostly all the signing (chuck leavell stepped in a few songs on piano and sang) but Warren took the lead solo on some of the songs and hammered them, the next night Derek took the solos which was super cool they took turns. These two guys absolutely tore the garden open. Derek is an absolute beast. And one of the greatest guitar players I’ve ever seen. There’s a video of him shredding whipping post and his string breaks and just keeps hammering the song. They did 17 minute Elizabeth reed night one which my highlights soulshine being annother and they only repeated the songs they basically had to play only doing two nights. Blue sky, whipping post, dreams , and when they played nobody left to run with anymore they had a tribute screen of all the Allman brothers band members, they all got big cheers Duane and of course Gregg but Dickey got a really big cheer people still hurting from that loss. And all crew and managers and then they got our boy PHIL in there and the crowd went wild it was a huge roar for him. Very special stuff. And Jaimoe came out both nights to play a few tunes but had 2 drummers helping along Joe Russo being one of them. Jaimoe said a few words, which was cool to hear a legend and original member say how much he loved being at the garden and doing shows. Crowd was super quiet and respectful and then cheered like crazy, the man still truckin at 80, I saw him for his 80th bday with Friends of the brothers and he’s still got some gas in the tank. Excellent heartwarming shows. two nights wasn’t enough
