  1. We got a Hero Dose of some fine Dark Star Orchestra on this night. The juice was flowing a little harder than the night before. There was spice in the air. Box of Rain was moving. I couldn't help but think about Phil during the song, but then I thought about Grahame Lesh and what that song must mean to him. Mission in the Rain was divine. Always love when I can catch one of them. Think that was my first Baby Don't You Do It, & Can't Find My Way Home. The second set was straight Tungsten hexafluoride, very heavy stuff. Terrapin, Shakedown, St. Stephen, NFA ~ All rockers. And then they Let it Rock to end the show. Once again grate venue, awesome 2 night run. Got some skiing in at Elk mountain an hr. north of the venue Sat. Fun times were had by all. Thanks DSO! ⛷️🎵🎹🥳🚬🧉
  2. DSO kicked some major butt on Day One at the Fred Morgan Kirby Center. Loved how the first set closed with LLR, Scarlet>Fire. Was a pretty quick Drums, went up towards the bathroom then heard them kick into The Other One and pulled a quick U-turn. Lots of great jamming. Don't recall seeing a Strange Man before. They set the stage for an epic 2nd nite for sure
  3. Even though it says Sold Out, if you click on the Sat Tickets link (from DSO's site) there are verified resale tickets available I ended up getting a 2 day pass after seeing Saturday's show was sold out, paid like $50 more than if I would've bought them separately when they went on sale. Seems like people/corps/AI are buying up all the tickets then reselling them for a profit.

  6. LFG! will be blowing 30mph at the Peak. Makes for nippy smoke breaks. My AlgoreRhythm has them doing an elective. I'd like to a hear a Standing on the Moon, Liberty, When I paint my Masterpiece, New Speedway But DSO knows better than me and will deliver what's needed
  7. Happy Birthday to the Greatest Band in the Land. Never stop doing what you're doing. There's no other band I'd rather see tuning up on stage. Official Countdown to the Peak is on...14 days!
  8. Great ambassador for the Dead in the Delaware Valley. He would always say "God bless the Grateful Dead" You'd always catch him in tie dye. One of the last true disc jockeys. He was a walking party Here's a video of him at one of the Cardboard Classics taking quit a bump https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMMa92-T-yI Here's a cool video of him interviewing Phil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F_fFtP7YD08

Barton Hall - May 8, 1977 General Admission: $7.50 Set 1 New Minglewood Blues Loser El Paso They Love Each Other Jack Straw Deal Lazy Lightnin' Supplication Brown Eyed Women Mama Tried Row Jimmy Dancin' in the Streets Set 2 Scarlet Begonias Fire on the Mountain Estimated Prophet St. Stephen Not Fade Away St. Stephen Morning Dew One More Saturday Night Filler: Ripple Woke up yesterday with a weird feeling that DSO was gonna do something special at the base of some stacked steel in the little town of Bethlehem, PA. I wasn't prepared for what they layed down. The joint was jumping, packed in like sardines on the floor. First set highlights for me were Jack Straw, Supplication, & Dancin'. Reality didn't set in until set break when I realized what we were witnessing and what the 2nd set was going to be like. DSO didn't disappoint brining the thunder in the 2nd set. They opened a portal that brought the spirits of Jerry, Phil, and Keith on to the stage where they collectively all had grins and nodded in approval. I don't think there are 7 other people on the planet who could have pulled off what happened in that second set (sans a couple drummers who could have sat in) and it only took them 3,343 shows to get dialed in. Truly a special night. Any time you get the chance to see DSO on a weekday in Pennsylvania don't waste the opportunity. Epic things happen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nw0IkqQTPcI

  13. Round 2 Right from the jump you knew this was going to be a special night. Opening with Help>Slip>Franklin. The band needed to work some things out during Slipknot. They found what they were looking for and were locked in the rest of the night. The crowd was a little more rowdy, and the place was more packed than the night before. This made for more energy and the band matched the intensity. Seems like DSO can take it to another notch when they do a venue 2 or more days in a row. Maybe it's familiarity, having dialed things in the first night, but the band seems to start growing roots to the stage (like a mini residency). Rob's vocals on BTW were spot on and very powerful. I didn't have Keep on Growing or Gomorrah on my DSO bingo card. Hell in a Bucket and IKO had the joint jumping. Box of Rain was a nice send off to the setbreak. The second sent was a long long crazy crazy set. Capped off by a Morning Dew for the ages. During Dew at one point you couldn't hear yourself think the crowd was so loud, then the next minute you could here a pin drop. The band had the crowd hypnotized like snake charmers dictating our next moves. The pigpen dedicated Two Souls in Communion was smooth. One more Saturday night had everyone levitating. Was an awesome weekend, kudos to the band for bringing it once again! Slept in the van after the show. For future reference 26 degrees is the cutoff for being too cold without a heater or something. Praise DSO!
  14. Round 1 1st time seeing a show at the Kirby Center. Found it to be a very enjoyable venue. A theater setting with a balcony upstairs. Things that were nice, they still take cash, and have a smoking section out front. During set break they have a larger smoking section on the side of the building. My local theater outlawed both of these, so I've sworn off going back there. Dark Star delivered once again. First set I remember Cassidy and the Music Never Stopped sticking out. All the songs were good. I did notice on the opening song Jack Straw Skip was very hangry about someting, maybe equipment related. The second set Scarlet>Fire was take no prisoners. DSO Absolutely layed it down, it was very greasy in a good way. He's Gone>Family Drums/Space>Comes a Time was prety epic. Johnny B. Goode sent the crowd home rockin. Stayed the night then went skiing at Montage Mountain the next day
  15. Big Steve "Parish" Would always talk about people back in the day at shows, usually on L, would strip naked and rush the stage. Try to give Jerry a hug or something. They would usually be able to handle them without anyone getting hurt. It was a normal thing back in the 60's,70's. Some stories of guys stripping naked and running out of the venue on to the street never to be seen again. So I guess consider yourself lucky. Sux the law come to get you if you don't walk right. Sounds like you had to pay your dues with time and money to the court systems. I doubt anyone in the crowd was that offended. You were just a few decades off, I wouldn't sweat it.
  16. Thank you God for this past year, Thank you God for family here Thank you God for this delicious food, Thank you God for all that's good Awesome night, no better way to kick off the holidays. Sold out show once again at the Peak! DSO never disappoints. They threw me off with a 1st set drums, never heard that before. Thought maybe it was an elective set. The band is just a juggernaut when they get warmed up. The whole second set was fire once again. Props to my upstairs dancers. Another awesome night on the mountain. Hopefully everyone made it home safely and had a great Thanksgiving celebration with family and friends.
  17. The past two pre-Thanksgiving Peak shows were electives. I'm feeling old skool ~ 1969-1970 It's gotta be close to 20years of pre-Thanksgiving shows up there. I do recall a year or two with copious amounts of snow out on the deck which turned into an epic snowball fight. I think one year DSO had to cancel since they couldn't get their bus up the snowy driveway. Can't wait for that first Skip Bomb that shakes the wooden walls of the Peak!
  18. * Ripple rather than Brokedown to end the show. And they snuck in a Mr. Charlie. Amazing night, perfect weather. Dark Star tried to start the second American revolution under a bridge in Harrisburg, PA with those fillers. Some of the highlights Hell in a bucket, Rob E. was making it up as he went along. Lots of energy. China>Rider and He’s gone was intense. It almost felt like a 3 set show with all those fillers. Great outdoor venue, kind of liked it better than the indoor version DSO played the last few times. Worked out well. Camped in the van on a nearby residential street w/ no problems. Great job by the band & crew!
  19. JGB w/ Ron Holloway | Willies Midnight Crazy Train Campout Schuylkill Haven, PA Technically it was last weekend. Man they are really killing it these days. Melvin's Hammond just tears through your soul. Also the night before was Melody trucks and the Fitzkee brothers (w/ Melvin & Ron H.), they also put on a pretty good show. 20. A cool local news clip from back in the day https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXznln7_7Vs If you get a chance, seek out the 30 for 30 Bill Walton The Luckiest guy in the world. Very well made with tons of Dead references
  21. Picture a bright blue ball just spinning, spinning free
  22. Harrisburg, XL Live??
  23. Another one for the ages at the Peak. So much to be Thankful for, so much love in the air. Sold out show and the joint was jumpin'. The most viscous Slipknot I've ever heard. Great elective set. Even with it being packed there was plenty of room to dance (if you know where to find it, just gotta poke around) and getting drinks wasn't that bad either. The line to get in was nothing like I've ever seen. Didn't get up there until like 7:30p and the line to get in was stretched all the way through the lot probably 300yds 4 people deep. Waited about a half hour but I think they got almost everyone in by the start of the show. Glad to see the tradition continue. We can't take this stuff for granted. We've seen how easily things can be taken away.
