Just saw where Pierre Robert’ passed away. Legendary disc jockey at WMMR in Philly and probably the most vocal deadhead ever. He kept us in touch when Jerry and the boys came to town.

China > Rider & Scarlet > Fire... all in the same show
Greg from Chestertown replied to John A's topic in Random Thoughts
Didn’t they do a couple of scarlet/touch/fires? Maybe a new year’s show? Or was that sugar Mags/scarlet/fire? I had a cassette that had that on it. I labeled it 007 because it was as hot as James Bond. What’d they play? I don’t know but it was great! -
I dig the poster. They’re not surfing, but the eyeballs are back.

Happy Birthday, Bobby Weir (Robert Hall Parber)

You can tell by looking at older pics of him when he was younger, he’s a merry prankster for sure. -
Did you hear the one about......?
Greg from Chestertown replied to Greg from Chestertown's topic in Comedy Central
I heard one about a prostitute in a brothel with a glass eye. That was the location of the penetration. So, as the John is leaving, he says, “hey, I’ll see you around”. she says, “yea, I’ll keep an eye out for you”. -
Random thoughts and randomness in general
Greg from Chestertown replied to Rude's topic in Random Thoughts
Absolute silence while I did a little primp and fluff gardening at my insurance agents house a stones throw from the tallest point on all of Delmarva today. Perfect weather. Beautiful home perched above a spring fed pond. Left early to take my ‘57 Chevy pick up down to a little car show they have in town once a month. Pretty cool. Women and children were eating ice cream from little cups. Beautiful summer evening. -
Well, I can’t get my heart on. When I click on the icon, to like a comment, it tells me there’s a problem.

Started by truckin’ down to Selbeyville, riding on roads that started out as trails used by the local native Americans, every year, to get from the Chester River watershed to the Delaware seashore to celebrate life and eat their seafood. Again, I was an early bird in the parking lot but spent that time breaking bread with Tennessee. The Marbles he was selling were incredible. The boys from Crisfield were there again this year. I was thinking that we might get the show from Great American music hall from ‘76, as it was the anniversary of the original show. Help/Slip/Frank show opener shoved me down that rabbit hole for a while. As usual, the band settles in and lets the good times roll but it became clear that Eaton was on fire. With Lisa helping on the vocals, I was blown away by Passenger. Unbelievable. Since I have been getting into farming over the last decade, I have been looking for a Let it Grow. The first notes, sent me back off the rail, looking for dancing room. Found the perfect groove with Bixby’s crew back by the sound board. Finished the night there as I got my first Low Spark. Pretty cool. Great night and a great show but still not satiated. I danced and shook my bones until my face fell off but still hadn’t cleaned out all the Ugh that had built up since my last show. Not the bands fault, there’s a lot of Ugh out there these days. So, I’m working Saturday as usual but I told myself, I said, Self, if you get the chance, you’re hitting Merriweather. At 2:15, Frank says, it’s up to you, you can go disc that field for a couple of hours, or you can call it a day. I blurted it, call it a day. Flew home, checked the beach traffic over the bridge, good to go there. Go on line, score a ticket. Shower, GPS set, on the road by four. Never was a minute late. Merriweather hit all the spots. I didn’t look at the set lists to keep the surprise element going. Mississippi half step show opener always great. I’m on my way! ….. so, as I melt into the show, sometimes I stop dancing and just stand and watch a tune played. So, I’m doing that, on the edge of the crowd, and the guy standing about four feet in front of me, turns around, looks right at me, smiles, and walks on by. It was John K., watching his old band play. That blew my mind. Had to get confirmation from Bill K. As to what I saw. I also saw three shooting stars that night while watching the band and shaking loose. I got what I needed with that show, peaking just as they finished Ripple. Totally nailed the dismount. That’s all, thanks for letting me share.

Man, I can’t wait to catch up with that filler. Hope it makes it to regular rotation.

Atlantic City DSO Afterparty: KGB - Karl's Garcia Band
Greg from Chestertown replied to Mango's topic in Tour Information Hub
Dead Reckoning is another group worth checking out while you’re in South Jersey. Two guys on acoustic guitars who have been playing together for decades. Sometimes there’s another guy, on keys, I think. Sometimes they’re electric. I caught them the next night after Dark Star played A.C. A few years ago. Nice night, two guys on acoustic played to about fifteen people on a deck. Just exactly perfect after having it done to me by the Dark Star Orchestra the night before. -

That’s saying something. That’s also about the best original set list ever. I’m really enjoying Quinn the Eskimo lately. I love what Jerry and the boys did with it. You can tell Jerry likes that tune. Musta been sweet as a show opener. -
Yea, you gotta be a loving, caring, caregiver. I work as a gardener so I am at people’s homes. There’s dogs out there that I am friends with. I’m glad to see them and they’re glad to see me. I have also been attacked three times in the last 15 years. Not bitten but had to defend myself quite intently. One dog owners cleaning lady worked at Animal control, where the owner got the dog and took it back to after my incident. I ran into her in the grocery store parking lot, interesting conversation. She said the Humane Society will let a dog bite three different people before they stop letting people adopt it and put it down. Again, YMMV

Atlantic City really is a Brokedown Palace, so, ……..

Someday I’ll tell you all in person, what I have been through with my new neighbor and his German Shepard over the last four years. Despicable. If I didn’t defend myself, I would have been maimed. I was home. I solved the problem without him and now my half acre side lot is woodland gardens with trails winding through it and a creek but only when it rains. Upside to his scorched Earth, Chernobyl style landscaping, my woods is bathed in splintered sunlight every day for the golden hour, right before sunset. It really is nice as tits.

I thought Rorer. That was a vanity tag in Delaware, back in the day.

This one is staying with me, for some reason. I really only talked with him for less than five minutes once at a show, but you couldn’t help but know him through these forums. I think the sting is because he was one of us, plain and simple. I didn’t wander too far off with my dancing that night. I’m guessing with his height, he was the Sun that our dance orbits revolved around. We must be kind and considerate to others. We do not know what they may be going through.

I just lost a customer who became a quick, close friend. Fitness freak, personal trainer, tons of certifications, just not the anti-cancer one. Yea, I was already in that mode. I did turn her on to Queen Jane Approximately before she flew off

Every silver lining has a touch of grey. Don’t be sad it’s over, be glad it happened, as per Dr. Suess. I’m listening to 6/12/76. During the rise to the crescendo on the tail end of Looks Like Rain, I danced it up, put myself back at the Anthem, dancing with the Rude and all of you, that I had been sharing posts here with and just met. I shook it up pretty good, had a moment with the boy.
-
Met him in the Anthem, we were trying to figure out which night from RFK in ‘73 that DSO was recreating. I introduced myself and he introduced himself, then turned and introduced me to Tea, Grateful Pair, and Bill K. My life has been better since. Thank You, Rude.

I have seen the basement. They’re having fun.

I know, right!? ……I find it hard to express myself but that’s just the way I feel.

The last four tunes of the first set and what they did to Help/Slip/Frank makes me want to hear that stuff live and wish I was there.

I made the same mistake when I counted. Wait!, that’s Jerry.
