Fall 1981 there was a three show run at the Greek Theater, University of California in Berserkly. All three shows (September 11 through September 13th) were really awesome. The huge tie-dyed tapestry behind the stage was memorable. China/Rider to end the first set and no slow going into the second set with Scarlett/Fire ... what a great buzz to feed on. I can say that this show on September 12, 1981 was the stuff that kept me coming back for more. Looks like it was 2008 at the Ram's Head @Greg from Chestertown. The New Year's shows were always a blast no matter the venue.

I was trying to figure out what my favorite Grateful Dead concert was and why ... I went back to my first shows and it was New Year's Eve ... 1978 at Winterland that stuck out. I just got done listening to the show and I think I hit my nail on the head. Not one, Not two ...but three sets including Dark Star and Saint Steven and TWO encores. Here's hoping Dark Star Orchestra finds this playlist somewhere in the future where I'll be there. Tickets in hand ... I saw a mention of two day passes but did not find the link! That said, we're looking forward to a real good time. I live only an hour away but need to find a room for Friday night. Anybody know where the crowd will be? Found a place for $111.00 with tax. Mountaineer Inn 155 Tunnel Road, 28805 Seems casual enough in that the only complaint was people enjoying themselves into the night. Less than 3 miles from the venue.

So ... tickets for sale tomorrow and I've never been to this venue. Can anybody tell me more about the venue. I only live an hour away but have never been here before. Looking to buy early tomorrow and wanted to get a heads up. Thanks .... Captain Zap

Don't think so ... but you never know. I'm from Landrum and moved there from Raleigh last year. Been to 234 dead shows during the 70's through 90's and a dozen DSO shows over the last decade. Now retired and wore out from COVID. Black Mountain shows and the Ohio shows have been my favorites. Living only 2 hours from Columbia makes it a must do show. My name is Bill and I usually hang out with whoever is doing the most dancing. Send that pre-show info and hope to see you too.

Thinking about going and haven't bought tickets quite yet. Seems to me that this POD deal will leave some people holding some extras. More than happy to pay my share. As far as a room, there too, I'm hoping to be unfit for driving by the time the show is over. We have a gentle hound who goes everywhere with us and shares our rooms without incident. Might just have the Mrs. drive home since she tends to keep her senses when I let my hair down. Its up in the air and Saturday would be our day. Not yet Desert ... just put this in last night. Last show we saw was in Black Mountain, NC the summer before COVID! So looking forward to seeing the band again and thought it would be good to share a pod. We'll give it a week or so and if no positive response we'll be there anyway. Glad they are "On the Road Again"!

Anybody going to the Cayce, South Carolina shows who has purchased the extra pod tickets.... looking for takers? My Sunshine and I will pay our fair share if somebody is looking to fill their pod.
