  1. Before heading to Europe, Dark Star Orchestra’s Europe ‘72 recreations come to life in the States - 50 years to the day - as the Dead’s 4/8/72 show from Wembley Empire Pool London, England will be performed at the Skull & Roses Festival on April 8 in Ventura, CA.

Adding to the band’s authentic sound at these two stateside performances is the presence and participation of Jerry Garcia’s ‘Alligator’ guitar; a 1955 Fender Stratocaster originally used by Jerry on the Europe 1972 tour, shared with DSO’s lead guitarist Jeff Mattson to handle and elevate the specific tones from this legendary instrument.

I'm tossing out 10/18/74, DSO hasn't  played it, and that show also contains the greatest recorded video of Grateful Dead history, the magnificent Morning Dew from The Grateful Dead Movie, which features Phil laying out a huge bomb at the apex of the walk up, relishing in the splendor with an enormous, goony grin on his face. Phil makes that Dew really special, in my opinion, with his fills and overall playing, and all the juicy bombs. Either way, I hope you guys get a Dew tonight so Skip can have the pleasure of blasting the audience with some great bombs.

    Man, that would be FANTASTIC!!!!

  3. I'll certainly be kicking myself in the ass for not going.  I have been wanting to make my pilgrimage to the Cap for awhile.  When these got announced for some reason I was thinking they were 1st weekend of December and I would have just been getting back from another trip, so I passed.  This past weekend would have worked out perfect.  And with the Bro and Co shows @ MSG, tickets and space were plentiful.

Glad to have seen the Saturday night webcast, which was definitely as good of DSO as I've heard.  But damn, I fucked up. 😣

  4. Full on Robert Hunter tribute show

man, they are playing with some fire. The intro jams before jack straw and half step unlike any other DSO. Very much like Phil and friends. And the crazy fingers jam was fierce!

  5. Interesting that they did 7/16/76 just a week or so ago and that had an amazing Comes a Time>Other one and this one has Other One>Comes a Time....

and from the song lengths on the archive.org files - this one looks like it should be equally fantastic.

  6. I also sent an email to Tim and All Good.

Similar sentiment of placing the "entertainers" there was not a great idea.  And the timing of Sunday's set up was horrible!

This should be an easy fix for them and we can go back to our blissful memories of the Jubilee.

  7. In agreement with all the above.

Definitely the roughest edge of any of my previous but still so enjoyable, peaceful and wonderful.

Id like to email my comments as well. Send to the All Good folks?

the timer has started for my return in two years. 😍😍

  9. We packed it up close to 2am.

    How late did Billy play?

The DSO was (to no surprise) fantastic!

i was joking maybe it was an elective late 70’s “most generic” set list Rob could come up with. But man on man the playing was anything but generic. Huge HUGE bombs in both Other One and Wharf Rat.

    Woo!!!!  😂😂
