First Jubilee that I remember selling out GA tickets prior to festival. update: more tickets added, no longer sold out! see you soon3 points

This is the first summer since 1964 with no original members of the Grateful Dead on tour.3 points

Maybe the craziest thing abut DSO's late 60s recreations is the original sets were sufficiently compact such that the filler can be worth the price of admission. 😁3 points

Don’t have the raw numbers but safe to say that this is was the largest Jubilee attendance to date - even despite the wet weather . Congratulations to the band and crew!2 points

DSO’s delivery, reincarnation of this Stella, was enlightening for me. Whitney and I shared what we both recognized as a significant recognition of our soul’s meeting their fates on dance floor. The moment strengthened our love and journey towards eternity and terrapin as not two people but one expression of love togetherness. A reaffirmation of 2 people entering into sacred devotion to one another to make each others journey in life one’s journey. I will never forget this moment.2 points

11/1/1969 Family Dog at the Great Highway San Francisco, CA Morning Dew, Cold Rain and Snow, Hard to Handle, Mama Tried, High Time > Good Lovin > Drums > Good Lovin > Easy Wind He Was a Friend of Mine > China Cat Sunflower > I Know You Rider, Casey Jones, Alligator > Drums > Mountain Jam > Uncle John’s Band Jam > Turn on Your Lovelight Filler St Stephen > William Tell Bridge > The Eleven > Death Don’t Have No Mercy > Viola Lee Blues > Feedback notes: Sold Out! Oh buddy. That show was relentless! Jaw dropper❤️ Thank you DSO and crew for making that magic happen!2 points

That Alligator felt like a set of its own ⚡️ in addition to the mountain jam and the embryonic Uncle John’s Band jam, there were GDTRFB and NFA phrasing all over the place. obviously, that filler set was all that it was cracked up to be and more. Jeff’s vocals at the end of death don’t were haunting and fragile - only to be chased by a collective detonation to close out the song. Viola Lee that followed had one of the crazier windups I’ve heard followed by sheer madness. No reason to have a skip in my step after no sleep / endorphins have other plans tho. Just got home in time to play 9 holes with my son! Tomorrow is another matter altogether 😮2 points

5pm start to this show was brutal after a 3.5hr drive from Charlotte, but the reward far outweighed the sacrifice. There were predictions of a “family friendly” late 80s show in a park late afternoon in Wilmington, etc. haha. That show was def not family friendly. It was raw, viscous, intense, bubbly, inspirational, motivational, hammer down goods. Thank you band and crew for delivering on one of the best live music experiences I’ve had in a long time, and especially for closing it with Viola Lee! Essentially three sets of bliss!2 points

Yup - it’s a ghost town now. Didn’t use to be but I guess folks have found other sandboxes to play in over the years. i watched the stream of this show and my take away now was the same as it was then: Chefs Kiss 💋 The Dew to open had end of 2nd set vibes right out the gate. It was Magik⚡️ I can definitely relate to the effect of the Dew opener. Back on 5/17, (Sunday) we were in Wilmington, NC awaiting DSO to start the show - at 5pm no less 😕 With an Elective the night before, and a late ‘72 show before that, we figured a late 80’s show was on tap - reasonable guess. The band was tuning up and we were waiting for the opening strum of Hell in a Bucket . and then a sustained strum came. BAM! A Dew! Gr8fulpair and I looked at each other with mouths agape. We had an idea what we were in for so then came the hugs 😅 we can indeed relate ⚡️1 point

Second that emotion. Not many people posting on here , ever since Aaron left. I've tried to stay off here because, I don't like seeing my posts as the only one on here, thinking maybe i'm scaring people off, so I steer clear.1 point

ok first off, i wasn't even lucky enough to be at this show. but i just listened to some of this one on archive and i'm still amazed by the lack of interest being shown. i'll just go straight to my two happy places: morning dew opener, which is pretty pretty pretty darn hot. lets forget if its hot or not ok. its a freakin morning dew opener. listen this isnt a 1967 show where they sometimes opened with dew. this is a "modern" elective show. i dont think after the rfk 1973 shows with the allman brothers, the band ever opened with dew again. i mean after playin that version, the band musta been confused and thought they were done. what, we've got 2 more sets, thought that was it. i mean that is a closer morning dew version. crazy. and i had to jump straight to cfmwh. that is just a sick sick version. man i wanna here wilkes barre again to see if its like that. thats heavy. and the encore: wdwdiitr / love the one youre with. come on. this show is redonkulous. gotta listen to the rest but this stuff is just nuts. and oh btw the first set-- just music-wise is 90+ minutes. a first set that ended with sugar mag/scarlet/gdtr. huh? who knows how long the set was with breaks. i mean thats a loooong first set. theres a lot to unpack there. peeps hello? who was there? was everyone just deluged under so much water that they didnt hear or realize what they were getting. unreal.1 point

Hey - nothing wrong with spirited disagreement! I liked the unique angle of the forces outside The Dead as narrated in real time with The Dead's story. I was also intrigued by Jerry's apolitical stance juxtaposed with the political zeitgeist, and I loved how the author wove Jerry's technically non-political views, using Jerry's own words, with what was happening outside The Dead's scene. Of course a boring vs a propulsive read lies in the eye / mind of the reader. I've communicated with few folks who've read the book; a couple loved it and one very much did not. I guess now it's 50/50. But for this experienced Deadhead, the book provided greater insight and enhanced details of Jerry's formative years, his personal relationships, as well as his personal life going forward.1 point

I’ve had the same thought for sure. But I know a few people who normally just go see Dead & company all the time who are going for the first time and I’m hoping that’s a huge bulk of it. Just folks who got back into the Grateful Dead and now are going to check out dark star. That’s my hope!1 point

I’m a little worried about all the extra people with summer camp being canceled. It’s been a while, but last time I can recall there was no summer camp I remember it being real crowded and I camped next to a nitrous tank and kept catching people trying to go in my tent. Lol.1 point

Hey Duck, missed ya buddy. This show was super solid, the Jack a roe, Bobby McGee and Cumberland were with the price of admission. Second set, the two souls, bastard Fire and dancin with my boy Ed to his fav Visions made it an embarrassment of riches!! Glorious time thanks to the hardest working band in the land and a crew that makes it happen!! Love you guys!!1 point

Set 1: Bertha ; Greatest Story Ever Told ; Loser ; Black Throated Wind ; Bird Song ; Beat It On Down The Line ; Tennessee Jed ; Me And My Uncle ; Friend Of The Devil ; Playing In The Band ; He's Gone ; The Promised Land Set 2: Brown Eyed Women ; Mexicali Blues ; Truckin' > drums > The Other One > Stella Blue ; El Paso ; Ramble On Rose ; Not Fade Away > Going Down The Road Feeling Bad > Hey Bo Diddley > Not Fade Away People should really start using Grateful Sets as a set list source.1 point

Yeah, I thought the Promise Land ended Set 1. Dead.net is different. Reversed Playin-> He’s Gone. There was a NFA reprise after GDTRFB1 point

A few differences in the set list from last night vs the one Jenn found. Correct date and venue, but here’s what I got. Bertha Greatest Story Loser Btw Birdsong Biodtl12 TN Jed Me and my uncle Friend of the devil Playin He’s gone Promised land Bew Mexicali Truckin>drums Other one Stella El Paso Ramble on rose Not fade> GDTRFB > Bo Diddley Take another little piece 8-22-72 Berkeley just your average 23 song barn burner, haha. First set we were up close and tight, and what a treat to get He’s gone. A promised land set closer made us head for the water station. Second set we moved back to the spinner gallery. That ended up being a good move. Esp by the time GDTRFB dropped!! Always a joy getting down with people you love. Our son just relocated from the west coast to Asheville, so me and mama were happy to be getting down with last night!! Western NC done, now Big City middle NC, then coastal NC!!1 point

Part of the now disbanded Salt of the Earth Gang plus BillK522 will be enjoying the DSO pre-Jubilee, NC swing this weekend. My favorite people plus my favorite band is the recipe for the good life. Any of the other 5 people on this forum heading south of the Mason/Dixon this weekend?1 point

i can’t make CLT. Hugs to you Tea. 😘🥰 Step on, Tiger Rose. My baby girl Fiona can’t have me gone for 2 weekends. She had a rough week this week but is back in good form after TLC. Making it to Asheville was dicey until she turned the corner Thursday pm/ Friday. Sweet thing. My ancient BRT turns 16 May 31st!! 11-12 is ave lifespan.1 point

Oh, dear... to have experienced these BCT shows, in The Boys' backyard no less (hell, Phil even went to Berkeley High School). The absolute peak of their powers. Talk about hitting some DSO recreation pay dirt. And Veneta was right around the corner. Goodness gracious. I caught DSO doing the show on this run with Dark Star -> Morning Dew, down the street from the BCT at the UC Theatre on University Ave. Perhaps as good as I've witnessed them play; at the least I've not seen better than the Dar Star -> Dew itself. And with a flask from the bottle of Mitcher's Barrel Proof Bourbon that Rude had smuggled in from the bottle he'd hauled from Kentucky - the cherry from mixed case he'd driven out for me. Actually, I think Meili might have smuggled it in. Anyway, you get the picture.1 point

Try Stagger Lee from 9-15-78, which was included on the release Rocking The Cradle from the Egypt shows. It's the 3rd time they played it live and Jerry's having a good ol' time. Not weak whatsoever!1 point

Even though it says Sold Out, if you click on the Sat Tickets link (from DSO's site) there are verified resale tickets available I ended up getting a 2 day pass after seeing Saturday's show was sold out, paid like $50 more than if I would've bought them separately when they went on sale. Seems like people/corps/AI are buying up all the tickets then reselling them for a profit.1 point
