transmission blew up 2 exits before Roanoke on my way to these shows. We left the car and forged ahead, thank God. I was in school at App State and it was about a month and a half before I could get back up there to deal with it. My dad told me to sell it. The gas station owner gave me $50 for it, lol. My dad shit his pants when I told him I sold it for $50.

Very special show dedicated to Dave who would have loved this! Very strong, first set and the second set was great. Excellent High time. loved the cryptical -death don't have no mercy in set 1. and the third set just blew me away.. for someone that is a fan of early dead this was not a show to be missed. It looked like jeff was in his glory on that third set, and the steven will tell eleven alligator! Jeff looked like he was channeling the spirit of what the grateful dead were all about in the third set. Of course, Barracco vocals on pig pen tunes and keys was awesome. Drums amazing and eaten look like he was having a blast all night long. Encore: Woodstock!! Almost forgot, dancing in the streets and love light were spectacular. Any verbal or written description of last night pales in comparison to the experience of what was happening.

Turns out that the deer deercreek parking lot is just as it's been in previous years with free, all day tailgating and the usual 1/2 mile Shakedown city set up bringing in some of the country's finest artists and imaginative crafts people.

Definitely this was a show not to be missed and it's a show that takes sometimes years to be a part of. Just for fun I decided to see how many '69, '70, 60's style electives shows we've been to. Been seeing DSO since 2004, no 60's style for us until 2011. We've gone to 276 shows, 2 were '69 style electives, 7 were '69, 1 was '70. Only 10, but we remember every one of them and they all are amazingly special! Bethel was extraordinarily special because of all the family/friends from all over the country at this epic dance party, the history of this beautiful area and it was a beautiful tribute to Dave, he was definitely smiling down on us! Thank you DSO and crew! Peace and love to all

A little birdie had told me in Deerfield the goods may be delivered in Bethel, that bird really knew what he was talking about. The show experience has many spokes--venue, dance space, company, headspace, setlist--last night pegged the needle on all of them. Call out sick to work, Chase the primal. The 69 in Wilmington disguised itself well during the first set, Friend of Mine second set opener the clincher. This one did not disguise. After a China>Rider opener, the Schoolgirl clearly announced the ride we were in for. The keystone of the show the beautifully crafted first set elective chock full of primal, deep cuts, Cryptical sandwich sans Other One, the emotional rollercoaster of Death Don't>Dancin', and a hammer down Viola to close the set. We had a great group behind the soundboard enjoying life affirming music with the backdrop of a perfect summer evening in upstate NY. Set Break.

Looks like an elective set 1 and then the Woodstock set to start set 2 (8/16/69)- then more originals to close it.. SO GLAD you beat me to this! Mind you, I have NOT read your post yet but will give my review. After seeing DSO 1000 plus or minus times, I have crossed a few shitholes. This Shithole ranks in the top 10. Where do I start? After walking thru the metal detector before the show, the guy asked me to show the brim of my hat and wanted to inspect my sunglasses that sat on top of my hat. OK, that was over the top, no pun intended. The venue had about 100 too many employees walking around the venue, directing, motioning, checking etc. This included multiple police. I immediately noticed that the entire floor was filled with chairs WITH assigned seating.. WHY? Dance is why the majority of us come to see DSO. Clearly, there was zero interaction between the promoter and the venue as to what kind of music that was planned this evening. I witnessed a guy being arrested for smoking weed. I witnessed another guy getting arrested and his wife being knocked down. It appeared that they were intoxicated but the treatment was out of control. My friend had mentioned that she was really high at set break so, later, I decided to go down to the front row where she was sitting to make sure she was doing ok. I sat next to her. The seat was open. I was courteous, quiet and thoughtful while conversing with her. Bubba, the stage security guard singled me out and asked to see my ticket and proceeded to kick me out. My friend was also astounded by the way I was treated. I have to say that after speaking with several of their employees, they could care less about how I perceived things. I could never go back there. The one positive thing is that many of my mutual friends skipped this one....SMART! If you can afford a $1600 suite upstairs ( which my friend had ), that wasn't bad. Having said that, at one point, a security guard came in the suite with his flashlight on.....that says everything you need to know about the place... NO THANKS! Now, I will read the above original post.
