  1. 89/04/12 Rosemont Horizon, Rosemont, IL Jack Straw, Row Jimmy, Minglewood Blues, Tennessee Jed, Masterpiece, Cumberland Blues, Let It Grow. Touch of Grey, Truckin' >Smokestack Lightning> Spoonful>Smokestack Lightning>He's Gone> Drums>Space>Take You Home>Watchtower> Wharf Rat>Lovelight. E: Black Muddy River. last Spoonful 87/09/07 [124] Peeking around the historic show at Cameron Indoor on this day in 78, let us glance at the final April 12 performance for the boys in the city of big shoulders. Never go wrong with Jack Straw as an opener, Cumberland always welcome. Star of the first the Let It Grow. Smokestack sandwich the memorable anomaly of the show, although the Smokestack section less than three minutes combined. A Dead Base dive revealed the sequence was also played on 84/11/02 at BCT. Further down the wormhole, that show also contained the first Gimme Some Lovin' and the last Casey Jones until the bust out at RFK in 92. Were you in the house Desert Dead? I enjoyed speakers in the hallways the night after my second row center hardwire with the Big Man. Praise DSO.
  2. 22/04/02 Palace Theater, Albany, NY Original Recipe Set One Hell In A Bucket, Let It Rock, Masterpiece, Loser Cumberland Blues, I'll Take A Melody, Deal, Masters of War, Box of Rain, One More Saturday Nite. Set Two Here Comes Sunshine>Greatest Story, Revolution, Feel Like A Stranger>Drums>Space>Corinna> Help on the Way>Throwin' Stones>Days Between> Slipknot>Franklin's Tower. E: Brokedown Palace. Well constructed elective sweeps up all in a journey of happiness and joy in the shadow of the NYE celebration on Friday. After struggling to find center at times during the first set, deep family love permeates the upper reaches of the balcony to deliver what we all hope to get out of a day on tour with DSO. Bucket a raucous flag drop to the proceedings, JGB selections a treat, the Melody especially fulfilling. The Cumberland its typical hoedown self. Lisa strong on the Masters, a commentary on world events that continued throughout the show. Saturday Nite a fine first set close. Sunshine a lovely choice, Skip especially strong. Old school Story with Lisa on vocals toward the end. Interesting placement on Revolution and Stranger--both worked well, the Stranger a sweat breaker heading into Drums, which were exceptional. Rob taking a solo for the last 5 minutes or so on the beam. Obviously Rob loves the Corinna, another different slot that was productive. Closing sandwich dreamy, the Days hypnotizing. The Franklin's a smile factory and boogie fest. Called the Brokedown at Cafe Madison during breakfast. I spent the evening with the best friends one could hope to dance with, I love each and everyone of you. Thanks Band and Crew, enjoy a few days off and safe travels to Skull and Roses. Praise DSO.
  3. 22/04/01 Palace Theater, Albany, NY Jeff solo acoustic Dire Wolf, Deep Elem Blues, Train to Cry*, Okie from Muskogee, Ripple. * w/ Lisa on harp. Set One Shakedown Street, Me and My Uncle>Mexicali Blues, Cold Rain and Snow, CC Rider, Must Have Been the Roses, BIODTL, Big Boss Man, Minglewood Blues, Don't Ease Me In. Set Two Iko-Iko, Playin' in the Band>Terrapin Station>Playin' in the Band>Drums>Space>Other One>Not Fade Away> Goin Down the Road>Morning Dew. Set Three (12:00) Dark Star> Bertha>Good Lovin'. E: Baby Blue Filler: Sisters and Brothers. Recreation of 81/12/31 Oakland Auditorium Arena. An overflowing evening of music presented by our favorite band in a grand old hall on a chilly April 1 in New York's capital. Friends and smiles abound at every locale. The solo Jeff material was with the lights on and a very chic way to ease into the night. Shakedown a ripping opener. Cold Rain appropriate, the Big Boss Man a first set highlight. The Iko a glee fest in the aisle at the top of the floor with many loved ones. Terrapin a inspiration. The Drums from the balcony an overload of the senses. The post drums energetic and shredded-- Skip dropping the bombs during the Other One. Goin' Down the Road a favorite, and the Dew well executed. Balloons held up for a moment before crashing down during the Star, a great way to start the New Year. Closing pair a romp. Fabulous show. Loving friends. Thanks band and crew. Praise DSO.
  4. 22/03/26 The National, Richmond, VA Original Recipe Set One St. Stephen>Not Fade Away>St. Stephen, Corinna, So Many Roads, Masterpiece, Who Was John, You Ain't Women Enough, Broken Arrow, Bird Song> Not Fade Away. Set Two Scarlet Begonias>Fire On the Mountain, Women Are Smarter>Gimme Some Lovin'>He's Gone>Drums> Space>Low Spark>Standing on the Moon, One More Saturday Night. E: The Weight, White Rabbit. Rob Barraco's stool breaks after YAWE. Happy Birthday for attendee before Scarlet. Saturday tour closer in combination with the all powerful elective proves to be a lethal combination for a sold out venue in Richmond. First set a layer cake of delight, the St. Stephen jumping off a joy. Later material lovingly delivered. Thankfully Rob Ok after stool gives out from under him after Woman Enough. Bird Song drove me to Balcony hall for unlimited space and the pop back into NFA a nice first set bow. Called the Scarlet>Fire on the Metro coming home from Anthem, it did not disappoint. After a few steps with Meili during the Women, popped Rude into my balcony aisle floorspace and retreated to the hallway. Low Spark a fully developed slinky journey. Standing on the Moon spiritual ecstasy, Saturday Nite a ripping close. Double encore the cherry on top of this monster. I spent the evening with dear friends old and new, I love every one of you. Much thanks band and crew, enjoy a couple days of rest. Praise DSO.
  5. Way back in 2002, our band did a three show run at State Theater in Falls Church, VA on 10/31,11/1,11/2. The first two shows of that run were 10/31/85 and 11/1/85 (which was absolutely hammered). The third night was elective. Nice of them to tie up the loose end on that triad last night at the Anthem. Praise DSO.
  6. 85/11/02 Richmond Coliseum, Richmond, VA Bertha>Greatest Story, Dupree's Diamond Blues, CC Rider, Althea, Brother Esau, Candyman, Let It Grow. Iko-Iko, Estimated Prophet>Uncle John's Band> China Doll>Drums>Space>Morning Dew> Throwin' Stones>Lovelight. E: Baby Blue. Filler: Golden Road. Family gathering at our nation's capital. Even on a Friday evening the Anthem provides Julie Andrews space on the floor. First set Jerry selections lovely, the Althea especially sweet. Jerry juice continued in the second on either sides of Drums/Space-- the Dew killed. Lovelight with Kaitlin dreamy and the Baby Blue with Melli, Sunny, and Rude heaven sent. The Golden Road had me jumping for joy. Thanks Band and Crew. On to Richmond. Praise DSO.
  7. Hey look what I figured out how to do. Thanks Tea. See you all this evening. Praise DSO.

  11. 91/09/21 Boston Garden, Boston, MA Hell In A Bucket, They Love Each Other, Minglewood Blues, Peggy-o, Tom Thumb Blues, Cassidy, Deal. Uncle John's Band>Saint of Circumstance>Eyes of the World>Jam>Drums>Space>Other One> Wharf Rat>One More Saturday Nite. E: Baby Blue. Filler: I Fought the Law. Lisa sang Rob B. parts due to laryngitis. Our band slays a chunky recreation for a solid crowd on a Monday evening. Tom Thumb started out on Yuengling then I hit the harder stuff, going back to Dauphin county I do believe I've had enough. Deal an absolute monster. Eyes a dreamy spin scape and the Jam into Drums covered some unique ground. Skip front and center during the Other One, the Wharf Rat slinky, and the Saturday Nite a romp. We had an amazing group weaving a tapestry of joyful dance all evening. I love you all. Praise DSO.

Promised Land>Bertha>Greatest Story, Loser, Big River, Don't Ease Me In, Me and My Uncle, Dark Star>Truckin'>Morning Dew> Sugar Magnolia. "A Swell Dance Concert" billing: Grateful Dead; Sons of Champlin. An early Feelin' Groovy embedded in the China>Rider Bird Song, Playin' in the Band a fine close to the first. Closing four all you could ask for, the Star clocking in at 27:14. Several Archive reviews mention the heavy handed security at the show, Nassau delivering on its rep even in 1973. Praise DSO.
  16. Matches Dead Base for the date. Shape a Bust out? Praise DSO.
  17. 90/03/15 Capital Centre, Landover, MD Jack Straw>Sugaree, Easy to Love You, Walkin' Blues, Althea, Tom Thumb Blues, Tennessee Jed, Cassidy, Don't Ease Me In. Last Easy To Love You 80/09/03 [673] Last Revolution 85/11/08 [298] The sandwich show of the jaw dropping three night run at the Capital Centre to kick off the Spring 90 tour. The background music of many a bike ride. Yardstick version of Althea. The Terrapin>Jam into drums a MIDI laced delight. Praise DSO.
  18. Love the newly minted Terrapin Station leading the second set. Original show part of the Get Shown the Light Box Set release. Enjoy the snow and stay warm Full Timers. Praise DSO.
  19. 94/03/06 Desert Sky Pavilion, Phoenix, AZ Set One Help on the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower, Spoonful>Jack-A-Roe, Masterpiece, Brown-Eyed Women, Let It Grow. Set Two Easy Answers>Lazy River Road, Playin' In the Band> Eyes of the World>Drums>Space>The Wheel> Last Time>Attics of My Life>Good Lovin'. E: Liberty. After being a mainly 2nd set song, 10 of last 11 Spoonfuls were of first set variety. Opening duo of the second not exactly a China>Rider or Scarlet>Fire. A 4/4 second set probably a rarity for the era. Enjoy the warmth East Coasters. Praise DSO.
  20. Can't argue with you on that one. Venue buoyed marginal shows in Hampton, although the lists looked fine on paper for 92. During the opening notes of Satisfaction at the Cap Centre I remember thinking how incredibly appropriate that selection was after the performance that evening, 14 songs?, Ugh. Praise DSO.
  21. 92/03/05 Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA Set One Help on the Way>Slipknot>Franklin's Tower>Same Thing, Jack-A-Roe, Tom Thumb Blues, Let It Grow. Set Two Eyes of the World, Way To Go Home, Estimated Prophet> He's Gone>Drums>Space>The Wheel>I Need A Miracle> So Many Roads>Good Lovin'. E; US Blues The final run for the boys at the spaceship kicks off with this solid list for 92. Same Thing #3 after the reboot, So Many Roads #4 total. On a personal note, I commuted the 3.5 hour one way trip for the two shows and worked both days. Love of Jerry and youth, along with some chemical assistance, an unstoppable mix. Praise DSO.

E: Box of Rain @ Bob acoustic guitar. * w/ David Murray Mardi Gras parade to open the second set. Sikiru Adepoju on talking drums during parade and Drums. Boys last appearance at Oakland Coliseum Arena. A respectable 2:52 of stage time for 1995. Praise DSO.
  23. 22/02/12 In Dead Nation, State Fair, Catonsville, MD Jack Straw, Sugaree, Cumberland Blues, Ramble On Rose, All Over Now, Box Of Rain, Candyman, Cassidy, West LA Fadeaway, Big Railroad Blues. Crazy Fingers>Uncle John's Band, Foolish Heart, Truckin'>Other One, Casey Jones, Scarlet Begonias. Great to see old friends and dance the winter blues away. Random friends were having dinner nearby and heard the music. Cumberland inspired, All Over Now a hoedown and the Big Railroad stomped. Crazy Fingers well executed, Foolish the highlight of the evening as the second set cut down on hard 11:00 curfew. Big fun. Heard Dancing Days from Zep on the drive home and was having a ball. Stay safe West Coasters. Praise DSO.

    Tahoe - 1/28/22

Have yet to catch a 60's recreation. I missed the DEW for 56 shows back in the Dead days also. Poorly timed touring I suppose. Praise DSO.
  25. Thanks much Dharmada for informing us here on the East Coast. Hope Bob was able to keep up. Praise DSO.
