Festival season has made it tougher to stream their stuff given shitty WiFi or weird start times. These didn't get streamed live either but they uploaded Fridays sets to archive and from what I heard, they were clearly feelin IT. Also interesting to note that they played a total of 7 sets over 2 days and never played Scarlet > Fire or China > Rider. They're going pretty deep into the catalogue

Hey, Jerry-- what's happening? I caught your funeral. Weird. Big Steve was good. And Grissman. Sweet sounds. But what really stood out -- stands out -- is the thundering silence, the lack, the absence of that golden Garcia lead line, of that familiar slick lick with the uptwist at the end, that merry snake twining through the woodpile, flickering in and out of the loosely stacked chords...a wriggling mystery, bright and slick as fire... suddenly gone. And the silence left in its wake was-- is-- positively ear-splitting. Now they want me to say something about that absence, Jer.Tell some backstage story, share some poigniant reminescence. But I have to tell you, man: I find myself considerably disinclined. I mean, why go against the grain of such an eloquent silence? I remember standing out in the pearly early dawn after the Muir Beach Acid Test, leaning on the top rail of a driftwood fence with you and Lesh and Babbs, watching the world light up, talking about our glorious futures. The gig had been semi-successful and the air was full of exulted antasies. Babbs whacks Phil on the back. "Just like the big time, huh Phil." "It is! It is the big time! Why, we could cut a chart-busting record to-fucking-morrow!" I was even more optimistic. "Hey, we taped tonight's show. We could release a record tomorrow. "Yeah right--" (holding up that digitally challenged hand the way you did when you wanted to call attention to the truth or the lack thereof) "--and a year from tomorrow be recording a Things Go Better With Coke commercial." You could be a sharp-tongued popper-of-balloons shit-head when you were so inclined, you know. A real bastard. You were the sworn enemy of hot air and commercials, however righteous the cause or lucrative the product. Nobody ever heard you use that microphone as a pulpit. No anti-war rants, no hymns to peace. No odes to the trees and All things Organic. No ego-deaths or born-againnesses. No devils denounced no gurus glorified. No dogmatic howlings that I ever caught wind of. In fact, your steadfast denial of dogma was as close as you ever came to having a creed. And to the very end, Old Timer, you were true to that creed. No commercials. No trendy spins. No bayings of belief. And if you did have any dogma you surely kept it tied up under the back porch where a smelly old hound belongs. I guess that's what I mean about a loud silence. Like Michaelangelo said about sculpting, "The statue exists inside the block of marble. All you have to do is chip away the stone you don't need." You were always chipping away at the superficial. It was the false notes you didn't play that kept that lead line so golden pure. It was the words you didn't sing. So this is what we are left with, Jerry: this golden silence. It rings on and on without any hint of let up...on and on. And I expect it will still be ringing years from now. Because you're still not playing falsely. Anthem at least for me. Too bad Live Nation is doing the ticketing - 30% of the ticket price in fees. I've seen worse and I know it's sometimes a necessary evil to see the band that I love, but damn! How does a cartel like TM avoid anti-trust challenges to it's monopoly? One word: Corporatocracy. Sadly, we did it to ourselves....

Gotta say D & C crushed it last night. Very enjoyable and they were feelin it! If they play like that for the 'Last Tour' then folks are going to be in for a real treat. Note to self: YouTube live comments are the literal dregs of the internet - as if I didn't already know that Literally hundreds and hundreds of comments bout Joe Rogan being dead and then weaving Joe Rogan puns into setlist songs - so bleeping weird. There were many on there who either forgot to take their meds or took too much of their meds. It was a total looney-bin but the music was surprisingly excellent!

Ahhhh . Chasing! Once the bug bit me hard it was Scarlet > Fire and Morning Dew. Had some tough luck 88-89 and then those 2 followed ME for a spell. Got lucky for a nice stretch in 90 - 91! It helps once your show count goes way up

The Chapel Hill tour stop had a good deal to do with me deciding to live here (since 1995)! The final choice was between Austin, TX and Chapel Hill, NC. Both are great towns, but I knew being closer to my parents would be a pivot point... I can't believe how unprepared the town was for the circus 😜 Camping out on the quad was a good time even if the police didn't agree. Chapel Hill and CalExpo later in the Spring of 1993 were the last good/great shows I would see. There were some great moments to come but it felt like just moments instead of whole shows..... Thanks for posting this, Bill ❤️

I saw them in Raleigh at a pretty small place (Pour House ~250) and it was a real good time! Jill stole the show for me - she's seems like a very humble and positive person - she made time for everyone that wanted to chat het up. I think they'll be at Skull & Roses so if you're lucky enough to be going - definitely worth your time ❤️

Classic Game! More scoring than I thought. KC had the answer in the 2nd half - really, really tough late penalty call on Philly for the situation. Hurts played like an MVP despite the unforced fumble in the 1st half. Happy for a good game - Happy for Mahomes - bummed for such a pivotal call against the Eagles. That ref would face a battery Chuck squad if he ever finds his way back to Philly
