  1. Maybe to make room for the return of Box of Rain
  2. On this day in 1970, Members of The Grateful Dead and several people in their entourage were arrested on drug possession charges after local police raided their hotel on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. About nineteen arrests were made, but most of the charges were later dropped. The event became one of the band's most infamous legal run-ins and directly inspired their song, "Truckin'". WALSTIB
  3. Those are shows where it's best to be on the rail with your party supplies and limit beverage consumption so as not to have to leave the stage for restroom break. Aaron would bring bourbon wheras I'm a wine carrier.
  4. Have fun in Phoenix tonight πŸ”₯βš‘πŸŽΆπŸ›žπŸ‡±πŸ‡· Looking forward to review DD
  5. Akron and Brown County added towards the beginning. I'll be at the rail in Chicago and following with Newport the next night. Love the GA Riviera and the dance space at Megacorp
  6. Cincinnati weather people are telling their horror stories and we all braced for a week long of power outages since sub zero is following the snow, it's happened before, propane helps. Nothing shaking on shakedown Street as of the beginning. Currently, it looks like Paducah is getting hit badly ~ RIP Rude
  7. My post was more about sending off to San Rafael than the price of a DSO show. I've been defending Dark Star's ticket prices since 2008 when kids were complaining about $25.00 for Fox Theater shows in Boulder. I also defended Jerry when heads were trying to scam wristbands to get over Garcia's $15.00 ticket prices when he was playing three sets on the Eel River back in August of 1987. I'm like, come on, he's playing three sets way up here in Humboldt. Only to be admonished with "have you seen the house he has in Marin?!!" I gladly paid the $15.00 and made the 20 hr drive back to campus immediately following the show to be back in class by Monday morning.🫠
  8. Sure wishing I could send off an envelope with a properly prepared 3x5 index card and a Money Order for a string of $12-15.00 tickets allowing access to the many terrific cities and venues in this great country of ours. Oh, also gas under a dollar meaning it was only time and distance that needed to be wrangled with. Cincinnati had Grateful Dead night at our ECHL hockey team's game Friday night and had a nice moment of silence for Bob Weir. Ran into friends throughout the night from the Hyryder camp. I dodge the better than dark star argument with "I appreciate them both when able to get to shows." and pointing out that they are now mainly an East/West Coast band nowadays. See ya in Newport (or maybe even Minneapolis to start off a week of "Festival")
  9. https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/dead-and-company-vs-grateful-dead-personal-essay-1235497545/ My friend, who I met in the Oakland airport after the Mardi gras run in March of 1987 and traded tons of audio and video tapes throughout the years, wrote this. He's been a manager for Bobby since 2015. I thought it was beautifully and comprehesively written. Well done and succinctly in words that cover the fortunate life we get to live where music meets friends and friends get together regularly to celebrate life's joys and sorrows. Nice photo of him and Bobby βš‘πŸŽΆπŸ›žπŸ‡±πŸ‡· I met Bobby around 4:30 in the morning at the Kingfish shows up in Vail. It was after the first night of two and by the second night he had no voice due to some bad partying he was doing, got to dance with his girlfriend as he glared at us from the stage. Matt Kelly had invited my girlfriend, while we were in their hotel bar, up to the rooms. We all talked some; however, when they saw me get on the elevator with my woman, they said they were tired and gonna crash. I wasn't about to go back to the campground alone. August 86 when we were all somberly getting by without Jerry. Kimock was the lead guitarist.
  10. Just found out ~ Rest in peace Bobby and condolences to his family and others close to him. After being up close during the late 80's I got to appreciate his incredible guitar work doing leads that I had thought were always Jerry.
  11. Riverside Theatre is a step up from The Pabst in Milwaukee. Glad to see the progress. Also, the four night run from Minneapolis to Newport βš‘πŸŽΆπŸ›žπŸ‡±πŸ‡·
  12. Chinacat>Shakedown>Ryder MSN>Fire>MSN
  13. The show right before RR 85 2pm shows. Wish I could've seen it also, esp DSO performing this setlist. These recent setlists have been off the hook!
  14. Perfect placement of iko
  15. Cowboy's comeback win reminds me of the Mason's Child and Rude Dog friendly forum fires through the years. This one was won for Aaron 🫠 πŸ•‰οΈ TB ~ the earth will see you on through these times
  16. The setlist reads like a well thought out novel and you didn't even have to get a OMSN
  17. I gather it was a 60's version of Dancin In The Streets?
  18. I really enjoy shows knowing they're electives early on giving more time to enjoy the excitement of the upcoming unknown miraculous
  19. Quite the show indeed! Does a recording exist? Jerry was extremely lucky ~ he got to every show 🫠
  20. Killer ~ a Dancin' sandy and with that trippy 70's whop, whop version. This set of shows is an incredible beginning, you all are getting the lead up to what will possibly the finest Thanksgiving feast ever offered βš‘πŸŽΆπŸ›žπŸ‡±πŸ‡·
  21. Love her work with the Jerry Garcia Band especially I'll Be With Thee Peace and comfort to all her friends and family
  22. One time 8/5/1979 Oakland with the white whale mentioned above: S>F>E>E and it was with Good Lovin' !!!
  23. 5 in 1984 2 in 1985 Philly 3/25 started this combination for 1986 Gracias gratefulsets and everyone here who lives for the dead πŸ•‰οΈ
  24. No, only once on Friday the 13th in July of 1984 with the final Dark Star (until the warlocks at Hampton in '89) as an encore. That's probably where 007 came from on your tape case ~ July. This is the show Dark Star recreated last year when then played The Greek Theater in Berzerkley. Scarlet > Touch didn't happened until mid 80's when it was disappointing since we didn't get to drown in our laughter and be dead to the core βš‘πŸŽΆπŸ›žπŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ”₯
  25. To continue play, l checked into a show closing threesome that I thought happened more often: The Other One> Wharf Rat> Sugar Magnolia Started at (go figure) Portchester 2/21/71 and continuing only 42 more times with the final in Boston 9/29/94. Surprisingly 17 of those happened in 1971 and 11 more in 1972 with these two years making up more than half of the 43 leaving only 15 being played during the next twenty three years. I really thought it happened more during my 83-95 run, but am corrected by gratefulsets. I guess the 12/30/85 soured me on these three because that was my first NYE run where I came in thinking it was going to be 12/31/78. I mean come on wasn't 1985 a crazy good year? I also went into NYE trying to make up for not being at the heralded Richmond VA doses, when actually that was the only TOO>WR>SM I ever witnessed. "Goes to show you don't ever know..."
