The juice and 'IT' factor from this beauty was epicness - my hair was still on fire days later! Despite the really tough loss of Brent, that run from Compton Terrace through McNichols was a legendary experience. My brother and I wish each other Happy 12/12 Day every year! Miss you every day, Keith ❤️ Quote

Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted February 2 Forum MVP Report Posted February 2 On this day in 1970, Members of The Grateful Dead and several people in their entourage were arrested on drug possession charges after local police raided their hotel on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. About nineteen arrests were made, but most of the charges were later dropped. The event became one of the band's most infamous legal run-ins and directly inspired their song, "Truckin'". Forum MVP Ammagamalin Crew Posted February 4 Forum MVP Report Posted February 4 A week before Jerry would take to the stone for the twelvth time awakening from his coma: 2/10/87 How Sweet It Is Forever Young Crazy Love (replacing the Love In The Afternoon, from the 1/24/87) Think Stop That Sis & Bros Harder They Stoned Me Run For Gomorrah Want To Tell Lucky Midnight Quote
Forum MVP John A Posted February 4 Forum MVP Report Posted February 4 Wild post coma JGB era! Lots of songs to unpack in that show... Crazy Love appeared and disappeared with the '86 / '87 window. Love In The Afternoon disappeared later in '87, only to show up one more time at a '91 Warfield show I attended. It was a rare show I missed the beginning of, due to some will call clusterfuck outside at the box office. I ended up coming in at the end of the second song, and what does Jerry play next? Yep, that lone Love in the Afternoon. Meanwhile, Forever Young was the perfect song for Jerry to bring into the repertoire right after his coma. Might have been at his first show back. And I Want To Tell You just got a little bit of play just after the coma. Then made it's way into Dead shows near the very end. 1 Quote
Forum MVP BillK522 Posted February 4 Forum MVP Report Posted February 4 Love in the Afternoon sadly never made it onto the frequency chart. Nice Catch JohnA, barely it sounds. Surprised Willie at the door did not have thinks running smoothly. Praise DSO. Quote
Moderator Tea Posted February 21 Moderator Report Posted February 21 #TIGDH - 2/21/91 https://archive.org/details/gd91-02-21.sbd.miller.22308.sbeok.shnf in the GD shows that I’ve seen. I saw an Eyes of the World to open a show, a 23-minute Eyes, and an Eyes outta Space. They all mean something different but the Eyes outta Space was a next-level event. So was a Scarlet > Fire show opener but that’s for another day.. 1 Quote

Good memory Bill, that 84 Aladdin Theater being my 3rd show and cherry broke on having to drive all day and all night for a single show ~ well worth it, grateful to be in that station wagon leaving Laramie at midnight on the 5th. Was also at the Chinese NY run in January of 87 for another space>Eyes, catching the $10 JGB shows at The Stone the Sat and Sun before this SF series. My TIGDH comes from another long ass drive through the desert for another casino city show: Jerry Garcia Band February 21, 1987 Lawlor Events Center Reno, Nevada Set #1 I'll Take A Melody Crazy Love Dear Prudence The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down (my first white whale and I was alright with it ending a short set) Set #2 Harder They Come I Shall Be Released Gomorrah Think Lucky Old Sun Tangled Up in Blues Then a quick bite at the $1.49 casino buffet and right back to Laramie for class on Monday morning. My best taper friend at that time, Tom Heiberger and his wife Bobbi, out of Longmont, CO changed his brake pads on the side of the highway on the way out that Friday afternoon. Lawlor Events Center was kinda like a High School gym with a curtain hanging behind the band ~ weird Quote

Pull up Wharf Rat and Just listen to the crowd get to the dizziest of highs and then the bottom drops out Truer words have not been said. I was there. It wasn't a tease, rather they were totally playing Cosmic Charlie, if just for several bars. And when they ground into Wharf Rat (which I consider a perfect term for the "transition"), I've never felt the air sucked out of a building like that. Hard as it is to suggest Jerry panicked while on stage, what else happened? Quote

Ohhh the Crap Centre. This is the show where I got cuffed-n-stuffed in the parking lot for smoking a plant. The contents of my fanny pack upped the Ruh-Rho factor a bit. A bit of a speedbump but I was back at it in Hartford. Not welcome in MD for years after - that happens when you don’t show up for court Quote
