So im sitting here at my desk, listening to gdradio play 11-5-77 (it

doesnt say the venue but i know ive heard this show a bunch,

its got jerry going 'hey back up there all these folks here in the

front are gettin' all smashed up .. ya know, its hard to get off with

smashed up human bodies .. phil and bob going, step back, take a big

step back' .. ) anyways, it occurs to me just how GRATE the trip has

really been.

Ya know, in college 96-00, i remember doing a lot of listening imho to

the most classic of the classic rock, -dead, dylan, beatles et al-what

we like to call THE SOUND, ya know, and i remember all the while with

everyone hustling out to frat parties and the whatnot, just searchin,

searchin for the sound. seriously, i remember all the daydreams, and

intro to tripping 101 class i took over and over, about what it must

have been like, always imagining the 60s as this just way incredible

scene, ya know, like this way out vibe, viet nam, nixon, the haight,

all that stuff, all going on in like a circular together way. and then

the spillover into the 70s and what many consider the height of the

deads sound and musical genius, notwithstanding arguments to the

contrary. you know, that idea of travelling, tripping on a circus bus

headed to never ever land, a band of hippies high on love and music,

that seemed like such a fine idea to me then, in the late nineties and

now how this something carries on another full decade on down the line

..

I feel like a student of this stuff. don't we all? we just take it

all in. its amazing! well, anyways, i just wanted to say that. this

forum is amazing, connecting so many so far and wide, around a central

axis. ya know, a lot of you guys still i havent even figured out your

names, and there'd be a good chance i wouldn't recognice a lot of

faces on the street, but you know, on some less tangible side, this

music is so expansive, hits so directly to the heart, like the

connective tissue of a universal human soul. Well, a great person

once wrote, "In my life, I love you more."

DSO has never played in Canada before? I would have assumed they'd have at least played the obvious cities like Vancouver and Toronto . C'mon Boyz, recreate the Festival Express! I happen to know there are hippies and Deadheads in Vancouver.

Just wanted to thank all our fans for coming out and supporting the band on this past tour. We fought off throat virus's and finished with a solid set at Mountain Jam late Saturday night. It was great to finally play with Warren. Personally for me it was the most fun I've had playing with DSO in my 11 years with the band. Great things to come I think! By the way if you were on the fence about coming to the Ledges early for the Thursday soundcheck all I will say is it we will be doing something DSO has never done before! Heading home to Colorado to rest my bones....

Peace to all...

Rob - it was a pleasure to be at Mountain Jam this year, best one I have been to in three years of going. You and the entire band was spot on that night. Jeff was really hitting it so well. I was all smiles as were everyone around me. It was a good show of respect for Warren to come out and jam a couple tunes with you guys and gal. You guys were totally a band beyond description at Mountain Jam. I only wish you could have played more. But was thankful for being there for the magic. Rest up Rob. Looking forward to seeing you again in Rochester. Take care.
