Only met them a few times, I think at black mountain, then Charleston. What a classy family. Greeted me with the same warmth they’d give to someone they’d known for years. People like Vince, Sue and Torin represent the best of humanity. Hoping and praying they find a heart for Vince, and it’s as big as the one he’s giving up! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Wow, absolute dream set! Thrilled for those in attendance cause I know our band brought the goods !! You got LLR in the first set and Stella in the second, but otherwise balls to the wall!!! Giddy up! -
Hurricane Helene hit the 100yr flood plain here, so the way I see it we’ll get another 98.5yrs with this venue. Should outlast me, haha. Losing Salvage Station was a real gut punch so this venue is welcome news for our live outdoor music scene. Looking forward to the return of 2 nite stops!

Last time I saw her was on stage with DSO in 2018 in Birmingham,.. and she sang I’ll be with thee with Lisa. That memory is in the vault! RIP Donna. 🙏

No signing in trouble, the reactions don’t work for me either and I’ve noticed that the PREV << and NEXT>> page turners don’t work. Other than that, everything’s awesome!

Taper Ron, I don’t think there’s anyone on these forums, who have been around for a while, that view you as anything less than an icon in our community. Your tireless and under appreciated efforts have brought more people together than anybody I know. Even if the forums transfer successfully, we’d always love to hear from you! We’re beggin to hear from you! ❤️❤️

Rob, surely you’ve forgotten about 12-1-17, Norfolk?? No way it was better than that one, right? Say it ain’t so!! Ed, you hearing this!!

At the Seattle Showbox shows in Feb there was a guy in front of us in a chair and had a service dog with him. Big yellow lab or similar. This show was indoor and shoulder to shoulder. The dog was clearly distressed and the guy was paying no attention to the dog. Us and people around were trying to comfort him. He eventually peed a huge puddle that he was now slipping around in, still no action from the guy. A worker from the venue came and cleaned up the pee. That dog probably needed his own service dog after that experience. Not cool. Aggressive dogs need to stay home, all other dogs, outdoor shows only. My opinion.

Love it!! 😍 -
That one hits me hard bro. ALL members of that crew remain crushed by this tragedy. We gotta learn from this.

We’ve all levitated together brother! Best of times!! Totally agree the saddest part is thinking about that never happening again! Love you bro! Well said! ❤️✌️

I lost a brother last night. This community lost a brother. WE lost a brother. RIP Rude. You had waaaaay more to offer here than there. I am thankful for about 13yrs of travel adventures (all perfectly planned to the letter by you!) seeing shows, going to Vegas, talking sports, making fun of people, eating killer food, spending hours talking about nothing, expanding our minds, dancing, and dancing, scheming to get upgrades, haha you were the best. I’m sad you’re gone, I’m glad I got the time with you I did. Peace always brother. Y’all tell some Rude stories and let’s talk this thing out. Not sure what else to say or do.

Iko, Strange Man, Birdsong>Music, BTW, all first set highlights. The whole second set a highlight. Opening with Love Will Make you do got juices flowing thru the whole crowd. Eyes>Estimated a delightful variation, and the Corrina was an absolute funkfest. Bestest of times spinnin with my tribe! Thanks to the band and crew!

So good to be with you brother! Had to retreat to some pretty nice open dance space (Ed needs about 100sqft) in the back on the wood floors. To say this was a barn burner wouldn’t do it justice. Well played DSO. Sound and lights were money too!

Congrats Rick and Whit! Nobody doubted your union would be special and memorable and with the help of members of our favorite band you made it so! Now comes the hard part, lol. Wish we could’ve made it!

My first DSO show had the sandwich man on keys! Sadly a few weeks later he departed for a higher calling. Bless him and his amazing talent and eternal energy for getting me on a bus I’ve remained a passenger for 20yrs now! We miss you, but that means we remember and honor you. ✌️

Please Come to Canada (we'd appreciate the support)
gr8fulpair replied to Looney Rob's topic in Random Thoughts
Rob, as a member of the American music and love community I want to say most of us DO understand your disposition! Hell we’re embarrassed by what this dickface is doing to all of our allies. The vast majority of Americans have and still love Canadians, even a large percentage of the people that elected the Orange Haired Jesus. Shit, many of us are thinking of moving there to escape the shame. I do, however want to encourage you to allow your love of the music and community to rise above the rhetoric of our socially and intellectually small leader. He wants division, and we say “fuck you”, we want to be together, and we will be together. If we alienate each other, that douchebag wins. Love will always be more powerful than hate. Love brings people together and hate drives them apart. Dictators rise and fall, but love has always remained. If our staying together goes against what our elitist narcissistic leaders are pushing, then good for us!! Now that, our Canadian brother, was harsh and political, haha. Love to you friend!! -
Bill, consider this a heart emoji. I love it but can’t say so symbolically.

That second set was chock full of energy and bliss. Help, Slip, Franklin’s is the ultimate party starter and it did its job!! From the slow drippy Low Spark on it was pretty continuous for the rest of the show. No break, an unadulterated dance party for the last 2hrs. Not to cast shade on that first set that ripped from Lazy on, but come on, electives are for the adventurous and we got paid!!!! So love our boy Island Bro for adding to the bliss of this trip! He’s got a grate fam and group and keeping it real in PNW! Me personally thinks dso has outgrown that venue, makes Orange Peel seem spacious, haha. It’s prob the size of OP, but in a city 10 times bigger. Can’t wait to come back! Thanks to the hard working band and crew that bring this joy! You’re the best!!

We woke up at 3:15am at our home near Asheville and by 11pm (8pm PST, haha) we heard the first notes of a killer opening Jack Straw about 3,000 miles away. Wow, talk about a long day. I was thinking about how Rude doesn’t even like to do a 4-5hr drive on show day, lol. Our son moved to Bellingham, so we combined a visit with him and these two shows. His first dso shows! His only prior exp with the Dead being a Dead & Co show I took him to in 2017 that was not very good. He was loving it last night!! Bertha in the 2nd song spot nodded 80’s to me, esp after the jack straw opener. From there it ripped. The Candyman was all melty and oozing goodness. Just love the guitar work in Brown Eyed and obviously Jeff does two. Those flourishes created liftoff!! TJed a raucous throw down and the Bucket kept us nice and sweaty up til set break. I actually called the China Rider (impressing my son, haha) which was more than adequate to get back in the groove after a cold break outside with flurries. After a soothing Looks Like, He’s Gone reminded me why I always yearn for that number! Jeff’s guitar work was crisp and emphatic. Then, the Spoonful>Jam>Drums>Space>The Wheel, wooooow! That was prob an hour of the second set and there was a lot to take in. I chose to let it take me in and really lost my bearings several times. Beautiful Black Peter and my second called song 😅 Knockin was a kaleidoscope of Dylan brilliance perfectly delivered! Don’t even need to say this, but Lisa slayed that Little Piece and left everyone with cups FULL. Venue very reminiscent of my local Orange Peel with all the shoulder rubbing and apologies to bystanders, lol. We got there right at show time to a line around the block but the band noodled and we walked in right at the first notes. Spent most of the night stage right by the ADA section where I had about a 3-4ft circle of space, best we could do. Couldn’t find Island Bro but will correct that tonite, haha! Thank you band and crew for hauling this party all over for the people that love it 😍!!

He hasn’t seen it in a while either……
