  1. We're coming up early Friday to get the full weekend. I haven't done Jubilee after being spoiled by the ledges for 3 yrs. My wingman is in the process of creating a keg of homebrew and I planning on filling a cooler with three days of vegan delights: quinoa nori roll, jalapeno poppers, tamari tofu fillets, diced up garlic tempeh and if I can figure out how to make my sourdough breads during a work week. He's bringing the keg and I'm bringing the food I was taught at the telluride bluegrass festival to have foods prepared so more time can be spent at the stage. can't wait to hear the sound system they bring in for this event ⚡
  2. This sure is some clean audio How nice to watch without leaving home and paying $3000 to get there although I'm planning parties for the next two nights. Soo looking forward to the upcoming DSO event
  3. Just getting in, positively 4th, oteil making it real, grateful for the stream
  4. I think there was the show, a Sunday afternoon show, at the Greeks, TDIGDH where it was so sweltering hot that our mic stand guy collapsed from the heat in the second set. It was his turn to sport the AKG 460's in a horn hat with cables running down his pant leg to a D5 operated by the second crew member that set. I didn't make this series but picked up the equipment after the four shows in Alpine to record the rest of summer tour. Didn't do Oxford Plains, regrettably after hearing the fantasy.
  5. I've tried to paste links throughout the day, no luck. Very big day 4/6/84 my first long distance drive for a show and clearly remember the china ryder and eyes and the mushrooms and using the cc my dad gave me for emergencies at college. He didn't think buying a case of beer in Las Vegas as an emergency and took that away. It was my only contribution to the trip for our group heading out of Laramie. Then 4/6/85 the only show of the Philly three to close out spring where I learned the hard lesson that you have to tour the dead as you can see what happened at the two I missed. I was chasing after that mistake
  6. I remember clearly, the first night, bringing full cups of beer down to our 2nd row center seats as Scarlet Fire was starting up after set break, spilling as the joyful spinning was beginning, so happy to be with good friends up close for the celebration. Then the second night the coveted High Time gifted to us all in the first. Jerry loved us all so much he just had to play a little dark star to finish off this series.
  7. https://archive.org/embed/gd1988-03-27.schoeps.unknown.gotfob.88250.sbeok.flac16 Let's not forget Hampton 88 with the first Thin Man and the return of TLMD. This is a really good quality recording. Never miss a Sunday. Security at this series was so lax by the third show we were taking in six packs of brew along with recording equipment and setting up camp on the floor at sweet FOB spot.
  8. It's up on sugarmegs.org
  9. Whenever you can go see Billy Strings. Every note of his three nights in Cincinnati were golden. Everyone I met was going to Jubilee. Every song is always changing and evolving. This fame and fortune couldn't have happened to a better person. Gonna have to wait for that Stranglehold
  10. Kingfish every song is choice Speedway > Fantasy>China Doll and a Satisfaction. But then I look at the rest and every song is top ten material.
  11. Been enjoying the reviews and look forward to tonight's

  12. Benefit show at RL for the Freestore Food bank in Cincy. I Dig Pig opened followed by Fairbanks then two sets of Pushing Up Daisies. Nothing spectacular except I learned that the owner has a clause with the bands that if they play Shakedown Street they lose their pay. The last time Hyryder played there they did a Shakedown and that was their donation to the benefit put on by local promoter Zinger. Very average musicianship and predictable setlists. I took off at 8:30, started at 6 and I had made the rounds to see my people and meet two new friends. It was their first time at RL and of course they were blown away by the venue and plan to come back for the Hyryder April 14th show. A lot of folks are not going to the upcoming three Billy Strings shows next week due to the terrible James Bradley venue. Apparently the Goose nye shows put them on ice after the nights were over.
  13. Two of my most favorite musicians Emmylou on Friday and Lee Owen with Born Cross Eyed on Saturday. .. I was out on a limb in Atlanta while the BCE experience was like being in the fold. It's always reassuring see Too Much Fun on the dance floor. There was a newcomer who asked who was the new guitarist sitting in, he had seen the shows where Mr. Owen was absent. He was in full force along with everyone else in the band. Hopefully he will get the 20 yrs of born cross eyed I've been graciously treated to starting at Terrapin Hill to the perfect Zbar. They got decent food, an outside area, a couple of six inch levels leading down to the stage which is waist high. Hoping for good weather for the folks hitting up the next to set of DSO concerts. Touch to open Death Don't to close and a lot of trippy landscapes through out. Even though I don't have any Cincy folks going to Jubilee I'm psyched to wonder the grounds and meet up with the people I haven't met yet and hopefully run into forum folks and to jam out with Dark Star
  14. I just got word from one of the officiating refs of today's game: Eagles 33 Thiefs 23
  15. I went to visit a psychic. I knocked on the door. She asked "who is it?" So I left.
  16. Hyryder at, hands down, the best venue in the Cincy area, RIVERFRONT LIVE. The Jack Straw had me reminiscing of 10/20/84. For one explosive lead run at the end of a drippy 70's version of Dancin' Charlie tap the peddle taking off the plump, plump, plump sound to rage a straight up down and dirty lead, tapping it back into the sound we know of with those plumpy notes that Dancin is famous for. I like a band that I got to pay attention to for these momentary streaks of lightning. I know, DSO has been introduced to the new venue in Newport, but this is a plea to consider the independent music venues. Don't let that November experience deter from coming back to Annie's, whoops I mean RL.
  17. Cryptical is a great way to start back up after a set break.
  18. Okay then it's agreed to move NYE back to Indianapolis with the huge FLAT, carpeted ballroom floor?
  19. On new years day it was announced 12/29, 12/30 and 12/31 Lakefront Arena and stated Tickets eventually for sale. It was a long two day drive from Cincy. I'm thinking this year of doing the three night Halloween run in Asheville after all those crszy Zeppelin tunes, war Pigs, nights in White Satin, his Halloween shows started getting crazy with his 2018 Seattle show where they were all dressed in feathers and every song had a bird in it ending with an incredible Freebird including the rousing guitar leads as the end. Most bands who cover freebird only do the piano and slide leading up to the ripping solos , not Billy he had his les Paul and captured most of what Skynyrds three guitarists shared. So nice to run into a familiar friend, Duck. New years 2018 was when I met you. That pageant show was well worth the six hour drive. Can't believe we got a St Stephen when the next show was obviously going to be a 60's early dead recreation. New Orleans was the first time I'd had a hangover in years. DSO did nye righteously opening with After midnight and spacing into a fantasy. If any one is coming in for the three Cincy shows in March Hotel AC still has a couple of vacancies 🛌💤
  20. BMFS transitioned outta 22 sans countdown, starting MMATC 11:57pm and taking it 15 minutes into 23, maybe by the third number he took a breather to say Happy New Year. Did not want to stop playing even belting out a Little Maggie at the end of a sprawling 3 sets. Only real dead song was the long shelved Oh The Dreadful, second set , first night. Apparently he hasn't done any proper dead since playing with Weir. The Tangled up was more Dylan style although there were hints of it a Dark Star as it started transitioning. All Fall Down raged to close the first last night
  21. From Goodfellas "My wife says she wants to go on a trip to a place she's never been. I said how about the kitchen" name that scene, what part of the movie?
  22. Selling grilled cheese and crystals is no longer a way to get to the next show🥴
  23. http://tela.sugarmegs.org/_asxtela/asxcards/Phil2022-12-10WarrenHaynesChristmasJamAshevilleNC.html Up on Sugarmegs by z-man who does all the big shows, probably on archive where you can go to tracks. I'm going to give it a listen now.... FYI there currently are 5 bed vacancies at Hotel AC for the upcoming January 14th show at RL and 8 floor suites 🕉️ to help recovery from switching to the new year
  24. There's a lot of bad seats at the Ryman, especially under the balcony. Billy is big as big can get, until he raises the bar, just completing Europe so now all those fans are on board and his catalog is limitless since he added all that Zeppelin, Nights in White Satin and War Pigs to his covers, everything's hanging on this massive shelf he's created, just begging to drop, be lucky to catch an Oh The Dreadful , considering all of Europe didn't even get that
  25. Knew it was one of 83 last St Stephen show with Wang dang opener, Hyryder played at Stanley's that night and some forum folks were heading there after the Taft, place was packed unlike last November Riverfront Live when the hearalded Cincy 85 was finally played, after waiting 22 years
