Here’s what my thoughts are on the tour schedules being a bit different than pre pandemic. During covid with everything up in the air, DSO booked a lot more festivals than they usually do. With those July Vermont gigs it forced them to be up north. They also committed to daze between a while back forcing them out to cali. I think Tour is going to become more normalized after they get back to adding a fest that will work at say the end of a tour like summerfest than the festival being the scheduling driver of the tour. The Midwest pretty much got the shaft b/c of the festivals dso committed to a long time ago. It’s gonna be pretty awesome when we get to add 2 days of DSO at Chris’ house right after the black mountain weekend in a few years. It would be the perfect time…..or we get DSO to play the Wednesday and Thursday right before BM since he’s only 30 minutes away. That’s the ticket!!! They could be in Asheville area 4 straight shows so missing a day off Wednesday for a private party would be no biggie. Let’s do it in 2023 Chris!! I’m sure we could pull 100 friends who do the BM shows to pitch in. Semi private 2 day fest. Includes primitive camping. Recommended donation 100-300 pp. vip comes with a daily shower. Ultra vip comes with an inside bedroom and runs 500 pp double occupancy. The ultra VIP experience includes a short private show of barraco playing jazz keys for meili singing Ella and for the finale they duet “dream a little dream of me”. I’m sure barraco can pull out a Louie Armstrong falsetto.

I heard from a reliable source that even though this has weird stuff like copyright 2021 Swati Music, that this is actually from a 2004 DSO show from the Norva with Scott on keys. The other day meili said dso has a 2nd song besides the talking heads cover they did for a tribute album on Apple Music that was just released. So at least part of the mystery solved. The 2021 swati music is still a mystery plus there’s a picture of a staircase as the cover art.

Initially I thought it was a Brent vocal track with DSO doing the music, but it doesn’t sound as much like Brent later on like the falsetto was stressing the singers voice but it’s pretty dead on Brent’s voice. Someone solve the mystery!!!

So there’s a 2nd DSO song on Apple Music: We can run but we can’t hide. It was released 10/6/21. There’s no album associated with it. No details. I thought it was a dead song mislabeled at 1st b/c it sounds like Brent. It’s not Barraco singing unless he developed a serious falsetto. Anyone know what this was from?

Looks like they’ve been adding more Allmans which is always a good thing. Saw them do a 10 minute insane Melissa in St. Louis. Assumed it was just a jam that would go into dead but played it big into a hard stop.

taking a baby to Europe at 18 months? That flight would be torture. Everyone would hate us and we’d hate it. We have to split the trip to the beach over 2 days because more than 8 hours and he’s a mess. He won’t sit still 30 secs at home. He’s wild. No way he could sit in my lap on a plane for 8 hours. You know better than anyone, you can’t really enjoy a show when you have to watch kids. You guys hardly get to finish a show when you have them. It seems like work and I tour for fun. In a few years when he’s older, we can do more stuff but it is what it is now. I don’t miss not seeing as many shows. Mei misses it more than me for sure. She wanted to take Jonathan to the caverns but talked her out of it. No way he’s gonna sleep in a tent and the shows at 8 and that’s past his bedtime. He would be a terror and wake everyone at camp up several times not being in his own bed. My mom’s keeping him Saturday and we are driving down for night 2. I was hoping somehow dso would have 2 Wilmington shows between the 2 Vermont shows July 4th week and we’d bring him and my parents as that place has 6p start times but shows are staying up north it looks like.

Looks like a blast. Just won’t be away from the little boss for 2 weeks at this age. The last 3 show run I felt guilty leaving him and he didn’t want to sleep for my mom. She aged 3 years in the 3 days she kept him not sleeping through the night away from home. Are you bringing taping gear? That would be tough to lug around and could see it becoming like a job lol.

Are you guys booking a hostel/hotel every night or using the train as a hotel a few of the nights? I knew a few of those legs were going to be tight getting to the next one. They have an interesting take on Just like heaven by the cure. My best buddy was big into alternative in the 80’s but I couldn’t really get bands like Sonic youth. I dug Depeche Mode and the cure and others but I need a melody. Without a good melody I can’t really get a band. It’s why I despise Radiohead. You play your weird math rock but most of your songs lack a basic melody. I’ve tried to get them but I can’t. Friends are like they are brilliant so I kept trying to listen. Nope. Don’t get it. They had a few songs like creep, but that’s an outlier that almost sounds like a song their label bought for them. Then you see Rolling Stone call OK Computer a top 20 album all time and I tried again. Nope. Don’t get it.

Was this DSO’s 1st time at this fest? Mei asked me why we never went. Besides the obvious fact it’s in LA and a 1 off DSO show it likely wouldn’t have fit in our meticulously scheduled travel itinerary that maximized shows per dollar was my response but not sure dso ever played there anyway.

We’ve looked for music almost every year but unfortunately on a Thursday there isn’t much. Would be cool if Hyryder came up Thursday and did a pre party at some club, but they all have jobs so would be a little tougher for that to work out.

We used to do the buckeye lake KOA but then they made a 2 day min stay over the Memorial Day weekend. I suggest just getting in Columbus, getting a lot of sleep then getting to jubilee before gates open. You won’t get enough good sleep for 3 days so get your rest on. We usually don’t get to Columbus before early evening. Always wanted dso to add a Thursday night add on show in Columbus for people who bought a jubilee ticket. They would never do a show before jubilee there as some locals would be more likely to skip jubilee if they got a show Thursday. But DSO wants to get set up Thursday and do sound check so they don’t do it while people are coming in.

If DSO decided to cancel a show 4 days before because they wanted to go see a basketball game, I’d be sooo pissed. Can’t believe that Eric Church cancelled an arena sold out show to go see a basketball game. Screwing 12k people last second to go see a game. Don’t schedule a show during the final 4 if there’s a shot your teams in it.
