huh? You’ve never gotten an old school show yet???

It's true.  While you get two in a row, 3 out of 4,

I patiently wait for number one.  Life presently

getting in the way, so it may be a while longer.

Hope you are there when it happens.

I think these were the first big concerts at the place,

All powerful Wiki says Cher 90/06/02.

Also mentioned the facility "barely completed".

    Love fabulous tour stories.

You picked a damn good vintage for a large touring year!  Spring tour was no more than solid, at least in my book, but the February shows, the summer tour, and obviously the fall tour were all gold.

I saw both Oakland post space Foolish Hearts, but for some reason didn't make it down to LA for those Forum dates. And after seeing what happened with the Dylan appearance on 2-12 I was beating myself up over it. Pretty cool that they essentially let Dylan call the pre-drums sequence, which reads like an extension of the first set and includes the only Monkey and the Engineer since '81 plus an electric version to boot.

    Squeezed in a dozen Jerry

shows as well, it was a

    good year.

And back to our random Dead minutiae of the day….

Foolish Heart was played 3 times after space, in consecutive appearances, about 6 months after it debuted. On 12-28-88 it was Miracle > Foolish > Lovelight to close the show. On 2-7-89 it was put between Throwing Stones and Good Lovin'.  And on 2-12-89 it ended the 2nd set after Other One > Stella.

And with the experiment obviously over, it went back to its pre-drums slot, seasoned in with an occasional 1st set appearance.

    Amazingly, I attended all three.

    89 a large touring year.

I played many hours of pick up basketball at Barton Hall growing up.  Fond memories of the old barn. Cornell's campus truly is second to none.

While I have a good excuse for missing the '77 show during 5th grade, I was 15 by the '81 show so the excuses get flimsier.

There were several pickup games going on

    while we were there.

    Also runners on the track.

The Dave Jacobsen Retirement Party delivers on

all levels of emotion.  An amazing guitarist and

wonderful person sails off into the sunset with

an epic performance in front of a  deep rainbow

of lovely people in the Baltimore Dead Head

community.  I found Dave in 2018 and missed

few performances, Lou on harmonica had played

with Dave in different bands for 30 years.

Jack Straw just kills as a opener.  Althea and

Mr. Charlie first set stand outs.  Stranger rocks,

Eyes>China>Rider wicked triad.  Third set a

gravy boat, and all delivered flawlessly.

The loving family feel between all in the crowd

and the band a real special treat. So glad I made It.

    Love you Dave.

Slick elective fills a quirky old theater in front of

an unsuspecting local audience.  H-S-F a 'means

business' opening sequence.  Easy to Love You

had boys checking the songbooks, Slip the twofer.

Simple Twist not the JGB odyssey, 'tighter' version

minus the bass solo.  Lisa really nailed the Women

Enough, everyone getting a chance at the mike

in the first.  MAW a lovely close.

First bled into the second with opening pair, both

    delivered with conviction.  The Unbroken>Speedway>

Stephen the sweet gooey middle, UBC the launch point

to a monster Speedway, the turn on a dime intro

to the Stephen spectacular.   Have caught Corrina here

a couple times, it works.  Found some balcony space for

the Comes a Time, the Stephen reprise setting the table

for a kicking Goin' Down the Road finale.

Way You Do selection indicative of the carefully culled

evening list.  Thanks Band and Crew.

The departing Dave Jacobson delivers a truly inspired

Extra chunky versions abound throughout.  The Althea/

favorite and a raucous set close.

Second set full of high quality standards, China>Rider

a romp, full boar Other One, Sugar Mags brought down

Locomotive comes roaring out of the station in a quaint

old theater on mild Thursday evening in North East PA.

Spent the first on the rail, a lovely position to watch the

the All Over Now, Esau a romp, I dig Passenger

in a big way, Stranger a strong set close.

GSL fun drop to the second, solid Estimated.

The Jam into the Star a sight to behold and a highlight
