did anyone go past the ridge line amd camp in the bowl?  I don’t think anyone put tents there. I was under the trees right across the path and no water came past me. Shade was important being Labor Day. The field would have been really hot that Friday. Plus with no one there peeps camped as close to their cars as possible.

you’re wife played year 1 and 2 didn’t she? Maybe even year 3 too?

I was dumb enough to be in the bowl. Super flooded an moving never even crossed our minds even tho the whole field was totally open and moving to higher ground would have been simple, we just didn’t think of it. Eventually one of our neighbors asked “why didn’t you guys just move” and my cousin and I just looked at other like “we never thought of it” 🤣😆

    He’s gone

    watchtower

    Wharf rat

    sugar mag

    E. Saturday night

Bobby was acoustic on Hard rain and easy to slip

The addition of Jeff and the strings and horns was nice

ummm you and him were up until 9am and you guys decide to finally sleep without telling anyone and assumed Ed and I would make sure this 4yr old didn’t go break windows out of cars to steal a juice box. No one was asked to watch him. It was a why do you have no parents around. No one asked us to watch you. Ok. We will keep you alive and the thanks we got was a kid kicking us in the shins.

on that note we may go. The deal is she deals with the overnight while I sleep. If he’s uncontrollable the car can provide. Fuck you peer pressuring peeps

We will be there. If you need to turn the back of the truck into an overnight weather escape or anything it’s yours.  😉

  4. I’m a late night bluegrass fan too Doc. I do agree with Rude that galactic and boombox are also best slotted late night, but I’ll take yonder and Rumpke for my preference. Rumpke late night is music festival bliss for me. Those boys will play til the sun comes up the next day if you let them. Down at terrapin hill farm, sunrise at the top o the hill, Rumpke still playin even tho their official set ended over 4 hours ago, boys asleep back in the tent somewhere 🤣😆 special memories.

one year I think Marco Benevento played electric late night back when we still had double stages. Recall him wailing on keys in a giant Panda head. Or maybe none of that actually happed 🤔🤔

and maybe year 2, I think on Sunday night, the werks closed down the jubilee instead of it ending after DSO. I remember really liking the light show from back at camp

*disclaimer all of the specific details of this message are subject to being misremembered due to hard livin. Lol

  5. I never saw a DSO ledges show, and never a TN show either. One of my biggest regrets in life is not finding this band til I did in ‘12. Damn kids (and ex) knocked me off touring for about 14 years. Lol. From 98-2012 I stayed mostly local and just saw Bobby and Phil or ABB when they came close. I was going to see blues clues on ice and shit, Scooby Doo and Dora the explorer at the Palace in Louisville (separately of course)🤣

But when I came back to the road the boys started coming with me and the rest is history but that gap will haunt me forever especially when I hear you guys reminisce of shows from preDuck times Lol

Goose was in Tempe last night.

Thick sound and very cool lights.  They’re tight.  Some songs take off.

Covered Electric Avenue.  Was fantastic.  I recommend them as a fun evening out to anyone here.

They are in Louisville in Feb. plan is to go although I have to work inventory the next morning at 6. Lol so if I go I won’t be getting to wild

Was that the year with those fire stix guys actively mixing GD and Floyd tunes DJ-Style till sunrise?  Shhh...Shh...Shhh....SHAKEDOWN S-S-STREET!  We went and checked it out as I hazily recall.  I also recall that it was a rather large contingent of women fawning over these jackwagons.  I guess you can't sweat the technique.

I was camped directly on the field side of those guys that year. The boys still bring it up and we all laugh and agree that was one of our least favorite neighbors. 2nd to one of the first years I took the boys (year 3 maybe) and we had camp nitrous right next door. Luckily we are all super heavy sleepers 🤣😆

  8. We camped at the end of shakedown street because I’d never been there and didn’t know where to set up. The grateful gangsta’s  next to us had drama and provided entertainment and bad vibes all weekend. Lol people would reach the end of shakedown street and walk into my camp like “what you sellin” and I was like “nuthin, just chillin here in the river” Lol

and I remember megaphone guy 🤣😆😆

  9. I did t even take a tent. Just an EZ up and a chair. Our camp hardcore flooded and everything on the ground got washed away and we had to go hunt it down. We had a river running over our feet and a neighbor came by and asked why we didn’t move camp. It honestly never even crossed our mind. Lol

anyways bought DSO and JRAD tix for Newport today and jubilee too. Starting to put dates on calendars. Love to see it. ❤️

  10. So many good ones. I won’t say favorite but one of mine that always stands out is the 02-06-13 show at the buskirk chumley. Partially stands out because it was acoustic but I got so many 1sts (I’d only been seeing them a year or so at that point) but Lisa sang Chimes, got my first ever Reuben and Cherise and was blindsided by it not expecting it acoustic. Also was eating some edibles I had made for a friend that was going thru Chemotherapy. I made them to basically just put knock him out and I was flopping around and crying all over the place up in the balcony that night 🤣😆

I love hearing all these stories especially the first show stories that describe that one feeling at that first moment when we all realized that there was something this special still going on. ✌️

  11. Went to Grateful Dead night at Redwings game Saturday. First hockey game and was just used to mask a dispensary run before the holidays 🤣😆. Lucky enough it turns out it was Grateful Dead night and there was a band “raising the dead” or something close to that before the game and I had a really good time. Good tunes, game went to OT and home team won. It was a fun trip

    Avett Brothers

I didn't see this band last night.  I saw them 9/21/21 at the beautiful Mann Music Center in Philadelphia.

Can't stop thinking about what a great band they are and how great the concert was....so I finally thought to post.

First time I've seen them live and so glad I went.  Ranks among my favorite non Dead/DSO concerts I have ever seen.

If you don't know them and you are a fan of intelligent and creative lyrics, great song structure, good vocalists who annunciate, and positive energy.....check them out.

Southern Indie folk/rock from the Carolinas.  Modern Americana.

I went to see them in ‘19 at Willie Nelson’s outlaws tour with Willie, Phil, Allison Krause, Avetts, and old crow medicine show and some others. What struck me about the Avetts was how much fun it seemed they were having on stage. And the show was enjoyable ta boot. This was the show that finally checked Phil off the concert hit list for the boys.

I was there, in accordance with my new stealth DL business model. Like comedy, timing in seeing shows is everything.

You definitely picked a couple good ones to come out for.
