My 2nd Dso show was an accoustic show in Bloomington in 2012. Everyone but me was seated. I was on the rail. The seats were 20 feet from the stage so the pit was just mine. He told everyone to get out of their seats and come up front which they did. Was a very intimate show. The band talked to each other and made jokes all show as it was all accoustic. They even joked with the crowd. I was so new to the Dso scene I didn’t appreciate the intimacy and the banter at the time. Haven’t seen them talk with the crowd or each other like that in the 150 shows since.

We had to have gotten on the bus right about the same time because I think that may have been around my 3rd show after Egyptian Room (my 1st) and Bogarts (boys 1st) of that year.  It may be my favorite show. Definitely the most unique. Lisa sang chimes and brought down the house. I hung in the balcony with my cousin and my Uncle who has since passed. Good times great show

I would say the raving reviews are getting boring, but this band just brings it every show. If you can catch DSO for even one show, unless you’re a d-bag, the experience is going to be memorable.

Louisville sets looked sweet. Wonder if the last show cut short for weather was the first jubilee in 2012? Looks like the band thoroughly made up for the short set Fri on Sat night. Giddy up!

That was definitely the last one I remember

  3. I thought he was full of shit when he kept saying he knew the show and I should too. But he wouldn’t tell me. He wanted me to hear the Louie Louie but I kept bugging him and he broke during setbreak and told me. Lol. Every year we talk about getting the Louie Louie show in Louisville and this year was the first time they drove to the show on their own so we didn’t bring it up

also Saturday happened to be lukes 40th show

  4. Man what a show. Dance party USA. Love the early Eyes and Lucy, that whole 2nd set gave no breaks. Ran into my High School pot dealer who I hadn’t seen in 25 years probably. Hugged like a long lost brother 😆🤣 he had his 8 year old daughter with him and it was just such a great weekend even with the short set fri night. Also like 90% sure I saw a cousin who I didn’t know was a deadhead with her kids too. That shit has to be in our blood at some level. I have too many distant relatives that are heads. Only 90% because the more enhanced I am the less confident I am in my ability to recognize faces. So if you wver see me staring at you with a stupid look on my face it’s because I’m trying to decide if we know each other or you just slightly resemble (sometimes not at all) someone I know.
*Lisa bout took me out with that HMT

what a freakin weekend man. ✌️

  5. I’m hoping weather cooperates. 🤞 no lightning🤞
My buddy who isn’t really a deadhead is going. When his boy was little I let him have a bandana of mine. He’s 12 now and my buddy says he sees him wearing that bandana in the yard he knows he’s listening to the dead. 😆🤣 Tonight he is taking his boy to the show.

2300 seats. I don’t think it’s going to be hard to move sections besides the front ones. The issue now is dance space. Seated outdoor venues suck. Good news is that it may rain a lot so we won’t be soaked lol.

Only the front sections are covered unless they’ve extended the roof since last time I was there.

  7. Iroquois is ok venue but trading in a wide open lawn for a fully seated amphitheater is less than ideal. Not to mention I have a ton of people going who all bought tickets for different areas. I knew it wouldn’t have been a problem on the river but at IQ we will definitely be fighting security to cross sections and sit together. Kinda turned my excitement into stress and uncomfortableness lol

Stupid Louisville did this to Bobby in the 90’s, bumped him from the Louisville Palace to the basement bar stage of some pool hall. He didn’t come back to Louisville for like 10-15 years after that

  9. I did the Aces back to back fest near legend valley. Ekoostik Hookah Thursday, Hyryder and Rumpke Mountain Boys fri and sat with them even playing a joint set Saturday.

Hyryder tried to kill me with the 2nd set Friday night Mighty high, Eyes, Viola Lee, Darkstar, wharf rat Darkstar truckin Chinatown shuffle. I may be missing one or two still in there. The joint set had a cover of Isis that was one of my highlights of the weekend and Rumpke capped the weekend off with an electric set featuring Steve Sweeney that was just raunchy mind blowing stuff. Boys couldn’t go and it was a spur of the moment solo dad trip and I made the most of that shit.

    Hi ;

Anyone need another person to buy a ticket for the Pod seating?  I am vaccinated and looking to go to both shows in July

    Thanks

I think you can buy single GA lawn tix now also if you don’t find a pod spot

  12. When you get better sleep in a tent on the lot than you do at home. Even in 45 degrees and rain, jubilation weekend I got the best nights sleep I’ve had in the last year and a half. I think they need to make one of those sleep apps but instead of rainforests noise I want one with “lot noise”

Bongo drum neighbors, nitrous tank off in the distance, drunk stoner girls talking about crystals, man I’d sleep like a baby.

  13. Night one was an ‘85. Details fuzzy although it was probably one of the most unique setlists I’ve ever gotten in a recreation. Midnight hour opener. Stranger>Eyes to start the 2nd I think. A spoonful was in there after an awesome truckin. Jeff was in the zone on the outro jam in black Peter, probably my highlight of the night. The show was phenomenal.
*wind was no joke. Sammy said “school and the long festival layoff has made me soft. I know this isn’t the coldest fest we’ve ever been to but I’m freezing my ass off.” 😆🤣Slept comfortably tho and more importantly everything is dry. Luke was extracted after the JBG/Baby Blue encore without incident and should be on his way home for graduation

I just wish that Louisville show would eliminate the GA pods and let us groove freely and let the premium peeps keep their pods up front. I’m so over being caged in.

The Billy “pods” were just 2 guardrails in an “L” shape open on two sides. I didn’t go up front to premium area but roaming and spreading out were not issues
