  2. I had to leave early too, and I left during Fire on the Mountain. They may have cut a song or two, but here was the setlist for set 2-

    Set #2:

    Shakedown Street

    Scarlet Begonias>

    Fire On the Mountain

    Truckin'>

Also, not first time they replaced Lee this year. Stu Allen filled in for Lee on July 27th as Lee had a competing gig and couldn't be there. Here's the video:

  3. Ammagamalin, I actually walked by you and I thought, “that dude looks like “ammagamalin”  who I stayed with in Cincinnati” but the music was playing and I didn’t want to interrupt the vibe to find out.

it was good show and the band stepped up with lee being out and had a good time. Hope you are well!

  4. I wasn’t hyped about the set list (which is what happens when I know beforehand), but I should have known a set list means nothing when the band plays. They played awesome and I got lost in the notes, which is what I always want. Great time!

  5. I used to have a Dupree’s Diamond News issue from the late 80’s where the writer essentially blamed all the problems with the late 80s scene- crowds, prices, parking lot, vendors- all of it- on venues allowing beer sales during Grateful Dead concerts. He tried hard to convince all who would listen that booze was killing the scene, but...hard to tell Dead fans what to do. When I drank some beer at this years Jubilee, I thought of him and gave him a toast.

  6. In the summer of 1987, I was 8 years old. Touch of Grey blasted at the speakers at my local pool, and many of us received "In The Dark" from parents thinking that latest classic rock tape was better than the Michael Jackson tape.

I love that album, and I love "When Push Comes to Shove", cheesy as it is

You flying solo means no Jerry band ;). Sort of surprised Dso not doing a Jerry set this year. Those noon shows are a great way to start the day. Every Sunday at home we make a big breakfast and put on Jerry band and it’s the perfect way to start a lazy Sunday.  Unless....Dso is doing a Jerry band show for one of theirs??? Gimme!!

I understand, Rude. I love the Jerry Band material-balm for the soul. However, Owsley County moved beyond that a few years ago. You know what I'd like to see?  A band that covers the Howard Wales material, Legion of Mary, Reconstruction, and all the Garcia/Saunders stuff from the 70's, in addition to the JGB stuff we know and love from the 80's.

Here's to your Jerry Band Sunday needs.....

Missing this whole tour besides a 1 off Nashville show was rough. Had to help the gf with her masters thesis and today got the news that she passed. Omg my stress is over. Did not like missing a whole southern tour like this but it feels like I just graduated too. Yes I’m pretty much spamming and screaming it from the tree tops but school is over for this household. The nonstop stress over the worst thing ever, school, is over. Team America fuck yeah!! My living room is littered with fucking national institute of health research studies and so much other shit that’s going in the trash today.  I’ll never set foot in bowling green again unless dso plays there. Typing this is making it real to me. I literally asked if I was dreaming this morning as we’d been watching the OA last night as well as inception. I couldn’t be sure if I was or not. Literally slapped myself lol. The nightmare is over. No more tuition payments!! Lol.

Congrats to her (with your support) finishing. I finished my MS degree in 2014. It was a grind, and it grinded me along side the full time job, family, etc. I'm happy to celebrate anyone who finishes such things. Congrats!

My first show, on my 18th birthday. I forgot Victim or the Crime was in there - I've been hoping to hear DSO play that someday.

I would also love to hear Victim. A nice dark, crunchy, psychedelic one

So do any of you ever watch some show that reminds you of something then go on a 2 hour binge while drunk of say flight of the conchords clips?  I tend to see something that sends me on these manic binges of things like this. I went on a mini binge of Workaholics the other day after seeing those guys in a movie. Man I really want the sun to fucking shine..........

Winters almost over. This was a rough one. I need sun. Maybe a shithole studio apt in LA is worth it....or maybe it’s all in my head and won’t matter anyway...even though I think the Midwest in the winter is about as bad as it gets.

Winter seemed excessively gray, rainy, and pretty dismal this year in Kentucky. Thankfully, the sun is starting to shine and its not raining every day anymore.

  11. Beginning my countdown to my 8th Jubilee. Last year I camped in GA for the first time since like 2012. It was fine. I got a decent spot with some shade. THat being said, it took a couple of hours to get set up as I made several trips back to the car to grab my stuff. That inspired me to spring for VIP tickets this year.

I camped in All Good 2012 VIP at legend Valley, but never for Jubilee. How hard is it to get shaded spots in VIP, especially if I'm arriving in the afternoon? Any one have experience or details/tips tricks on VIP camping?

John A guessed the show before it started. Smart reasoning. His app he wrote the day before analyzes Eaton’s setlists. The program spit out 3 possible shows and the 7/7/78 made the most sense. No songs from that show played the previous night. 7/8 to be played next show plus Promotion for redrocks.

I’m trying to create a program that answers my emails and handles all my work. Im sure Facebook has enough data on me they could be me. I need a Westworld version of myself but wonder if he’d be as lazy and just want to live a life of leisure. A.I. would malfunction all the time as it would be like hold up can he be this irresponsible.  This behavior is outside my parameters.

Rude, here is a solution from a guy who needed someone to handle his workload:

  13. That's fun. I've always loved Fall 79 shows, and this one is no exception. The original has one of the most exhilarating Eyes of the World in the post-74 era. Garcia just hangs out on the opening chords and intro of eyes for an eternity, setting up a amazing groove. On the auds, you can hear it hypnotize the audience.

  14. I love the songbook. You guys are bar none the best executioners of it and have been for some time. I love the electives and the recreations. When I get to attend the show, I’m able to transport to a happy place and dance and be free and there are no distractions because your musicianship and professionalism shine through. Thanks!
