Great sound! Incredible job! Thanks so much, and thanks for the fishing stories.

I'm happy it came out good. The sound in there was among the best I've ever heard, had high hopes for the tape. Thanks for your stories, too. Whenever I tell mine, I feel like Al Bundy reliving the game when he made four touchdowns, haha. Gotta try to make it out next year.

  2. I gotta mention the lighting at the concert, given the recent discussion on the board. I thought it was perfect, not distracting or blinding at all, and complemented the music perfectly all night 🤩🤩

  3. Well, it was a truly magnificent concert, from start to end, and a true battle of endurance to keep up with the band's relentless pace. The sound in the hall was exceptionally fine, probably my favorite place to have seen a concert, will definitely return if possible. It was a pleasure to meet everyone last night in our nation's capitol. My favorite part of the night was Skip's ruthless Other One tease out of Truckin'. It sounded so sneaky and greasy, and the bass tone sounded so punchy and clear. I think if he actually kicked off The Other One in that theater, the place could have blasted into smithereens. The introduction to Playing in the Band was such a fantastic release after all that tension that was built up in the bass solo, especially after expecting a completely different release in The Other One, just masterful!!! Thank you to all for such a fun night.

  6. Loved it when Rob grabbed the stuffed Alligator during the song and made him do a little dance, or shook him, or whatever he did. Somehow the beast got up on top of the keyboard during the song, and I looked up just in time to see Rob doing something funny with it.

  7. Highlight for me was the post drums  Dark Star jam. Rob B was on fire, laying out chords and really driving the band. The ending sequences to both sets were excellent, really enjoyed the early style second set.

  8. I am really sad to hear about this. Really makes you second guess about trusting anything besides what you bring. Why someone would try to insert that type of negativity in such a peaceful and positive space is beyond me. I heard of some confirmed fentanyl blotters that showed up in Canada earlier this year with the Hofmann bicycle print on them. Could also be negative influences trying to disrupt people's lives. I guess I could understand, from a user's perspective, for wanting to use a blotter for something like fentanyl that's dangerous in such low doses, but why use a common LSD print, with a familiar LSD subject, if it's not LSD. Thank God for test kits, they're worth the effort for the peace of mind.

I was going to make the ride out last night, but wifey says I've been seeing too many lately, and I enjoyed some family time last night. I smelled either some shitty weed or some K2 up in Maine the other night. Crazy to think someone would smoke the synthetic stuff in a legal state, could be someone who gets drug tested like me (not that I use that stuff) or just some poorly grown weed.

So glad I’m off Facebook personally but saw on DSO’s site some dude said how upset he was and wanted his money back because he can listen to Dozin at the Knick at home. Different times we live in.

I wonder if he thinks DSO plays Grateful Dead concerts note for note. I know that it was a high energy concert and I was soaked by the end of the night. https://archive.org/details/dso2018-11-17.nak300.cp1.cp4

Isn't that the "reprise before the main verses of the song" Playin'?

Those '85 set lists can be quite fun.

Yep, that was it. It was cool to hear them sneak in the back way.

Hey did anyone see a link for the recording of this show? I am not seeing it on etree or archive. thanks!

I taped the show, just haven't gotten a chance to work on the recording. I'll post a link here when it's ready, hopefully next week sometime.

  11. Great show, packed house. If it wasn't sold out, it had to be close. Great dancing to be had in my little 2x2' square of floor space. Lazy lighting/supplication, sugaree and set 2 were highlights for me.

  12. High energy biodtl, packed in tight for Iko and Samson, dance energy was high, but no place to move. China Doll was tender, Playin had the reverse intro, starting with the reprise figure into jam, into chorus, into verses. Day tripper was a great closer. Beautiful Positively 4th St, some of my favorite lyrics, capped by Lisa and the band doing White Rabbit, always a treat. I didn't expect to see the band play this show, as I saw them play it last fall in New Haven, but it was a great setlist, and exceptional sound in the house.

Awesome, thanks! Do you put it up on archive.org?

No problem, and yes, I'll put it up on the archive. I'll post a link here in a few days when I get it uploaded. Got Bluetooth on my laptop so I've been listening to it greedily in the truck (insert image of Scrooge McDuck swimming in his gold room, ha ha), just haven't had the time to transfer it.

We were Dead center up front, Show was rockin', what a party! Anyone have a recording? Nothing on archive.org yet.  11/9 and 11/13 are up, but not this one.

I taped the show, but I've been slacking on getting it tracked and posted. I will have it up asap.

I looked last night at classic Albany shows. I think it's one of the 90 shows and 3/24 seems like the one to me. 3/25 & 26 were played more recently and 1 in NY. And not as classic. Since we know New Haven is 5/5/77, it's easy to check overlaps, and that would leave only Jed 2 nights in a row. But I was going to see what Higher Ground and Portland are first before really trying to predict. But if it's 3/24 that has Playing UJB Terrapin, so it'd be a lot of terrapins just having been played in NoHo, if they do it in Portland too.. We'll see. I love this!

I forgot about checking 5/5/77 when looking at possibilities for Portland. There's only a couple possibilities without big repeats like Scarlet/Fire and Estimated. My friend also brought 9/6/80 in Lewiston to my attention, similar distance from Portland as Oxford Plains. Kinda want to see the setlist from Burlington and delve further, but I should really stop right now, cause I really don't want to know!! It's sort of like opening a can of Pringles, though, tough to stop 😅😅

  17. Wonder what they're gonna do. Been looking at some Portland GD sets this morning. 7/2/88 would be killer. DSO hasn't played that show since 2013, it contains very few repeats from the tour so far, but a couple big repeats (Playin, Terrapin). There are a few Portland shows they haven't played yet according to Starbase (7/3/88, 3/27/86, 10/18/83). Gonna have to see what they do tonight, kinda fun to try to narrow it down, not that I wish to know what they will play.

Did DSO play up the Miracle->Shakedown transition?  One of the more powerful segues in Grateful Dead history!

They jammed the end of Miracle out, and Jeff stepped over and hit the Mutron. They played a bit and he counted it off, 1,2,3,4, Whaaoouugghhh, crowd goes wild. There was a consensus during the break where I was standing that they would play Shakedown, but we thought it would kick the set off. Miracle was killer, too, with Skip playing a pair of stubbed off chords (bomblets?) during each line of the verse, high octane, indeed 😎😎😎

  19. Awesome show start to end last night, Skip was on fire and sounded clear and fantastic. High energy, love the tone of the Travis Bean in Jeff's hands. Passenger, Shakedown, Terrapin and Playin were standout highlights to me from an exceptional show.
