Anyone see people recording? Would love to hear this one

There is a recording of this concert up on the archive. I also recorded both nights and will get them up on the archive as soon as I can figure out all the computer stuff involved.

  2. Astounding performance by Dark Star Orchestra tonight. First set highlights to me were Looks Like Rain and Greatest Story. Second set high energy throughout, China/Rider and Samson brought the energy high. To Lay Me Down was lovely and tender. Playin had some excellent extended playing, nice grooves. Drums was powerful and loud, great audience response, with Rob and Dino continuing to play the beast during Nobody's Fault. Lost Sailor/Saint was rocking. Black Peter had great delivery by Jeff, with some strong peaks in there. Sugar Magnolia brought the energy up high yet again, just some absolutely ferocious playing in the end and the audience was brought to one final, frenzied peak. Brokedown was the perfect encore. Lisa and Jennifer Markard of the Zen Tricksters came out to join the rest of the band in a fine rendition of I'll Be With Thee. Top notch performance tonight.

Well because I'm getting the same thing, in addition to all the other things you blame on it, you can now blame my Android phone for this problem...

Have you tried deadhead archives for Android? Similar interface to relisten.

I’m confident in that Rob. I’m actually real curious to see how we (the fans) and you guys (the band) ride this high. I bet Hampton Beach is a monster weekend to kick off the next tour.

See you guys in New Hampshire.

    Agreed, pumped for Hampton!!

With plenty of advance notice, we all hope. Already wearing down the wife, saying they sold the place out, they'll hopefully be back... Her first GD related concert. She enjoyed it 😎😎

  7. Thank you to the band for such an amazing night, and for allowing me to experience such a magnificent venue. I would probably never have gone there if it wasn't for you guys.  The music was wonderful, high energy throughout. Agreed that row 25 had fabulous sound, gr8fulpair. We must have been neighbors, I was around that row behind the board. Really proud of the band for selling the place out. Hopefully they'll get you guys back next year 😎😎

  8. Recordings of all three nights of DSO along with the DSO/Seals Garcia band set are up on archive/relisten, good sounding recordings. Thanks to the taper, Toaste, for recording them and getting them up so quickly. Nice to see several audience members taping at the festival.

  9. Nice review, and I agree with all points. Excellent DSO concerts, along with the Garcia band set with Melvin Seals on Sunday. I otherwise pretty much stayed out of the sun, conserved my energy for the night time, and enjoyed the music from my camping area. The RV section was nice, and the maiden voyage to camp in my truck cap was excellent. Kind people throughout, no overboard shakedown craziness, lots of families, really a lovely time.

Met Lagerandgospel at the final show, although we did not know it until after the fest was over. Would have liked to have met more of you folks from on the forums here, but I am sure some of us passed each other or interacted in some way or another. A little afternoon drinking with plenty of time to sober up and pack before Sunday DSO allowed me to hit the road after the show, no traffic, no cops, smooth sailing as long as I could drive, made for another decent ride home Monday.

Took Tuesday off from work without realizing it, showed up and they asked what I was doin there, lol. They put an easy day together for me, not a bad reintegration into the real world. Definitely going to be trying to make it here next year and beyond.

  10. Supplication after lazy lightning, full  weather report suite also before Casey Jones to close out the first set. Highlights for me were Skip's huge bombs during the other one, Eaton teased wharf rat before the second verse. Tender Stella Blue. Frantic build up during viola Lee. Great show, packed up before the concert and got 200 miles behind me before I was too tired to drive.

And so it sounds like No Quarter was just the music or did they sing it as well??  Such an intense an HEAVY song...would have loved to have caught that bust out...surely everyone was like, wait what the heck is THIS?!

It was instrumental, no drums , after space, before saint Stephen. Had a feeling that the dew was going to be the answer to the answer man. Excellent show, lots of strong numbers, China/rider, terrapin, and the dew of course were my favorite parts of the concert 😇😇

  13. Gotta jump on here again to say how outstanding this recording sounds. My only gripe I ever have with DSO is that Rob Barraco can sometimes sound a little quiet in the mix. That is not the case in this recording. He is at a perfect volume, can hear lots of great piano backup, and his leads are nice and loud, without losing any balance in the mix. Excellent job by the taper, Bill Goldberg. If you're reading this, thank you 😁😁

  14. Man oh man, these guys sound astoundingly good on this recording. Eaton's tone is so so good on the early 70s stuff, maybe my favorite of his tones. Up to Bird Song right now and they are on fire. Sorry to have missed this show.

  15. A really good time last night. Agree with everything you guys said. Great first time for me at Penn's Peak. Really enjoyed driving to a venue in the country versus the city, nice large stand alone free venue parking lot brings everyone together before the show, and the weather held out just enough for some good hanging out before the concert. Highlights for me were the Cumberland, and Scarlet/Fire, UJB, Playin. Excellent playing in a venue I will most definitely be returning to.

  16.  This was a really good show last night. China Cat opener immediately set the tone and had the entire audience hooked and very happy. This continued for the first set, very good playing by the band and a very receptive and vocal audience cheering the band on through the musical peaks. Most of the house on their feet, even though the theater was full of seats.

Kind of tough to pick highlights, as the band played very strong renditions of all first set songs, but after a quick build up to the peak during China/Rider, Cassidy kept it moving right along. Friend of the Devil was a nice breather, with El Paso getting everyone moving again. Stagger Lee's groove was fun to dance to, Passenger delivered straight intensity, Peggy O again was a bit of a breather, followed by yet another dizzying, frenzied climax to end the first set with TMNS.

Set two eased us back in with a strong and well played Althea. Easy to Love You was the calm before the highlight of the night, Eyes of the World. Eyes contained some very delirious peaks, as good I have ever seen the band play. Estimated came out of Eyes, as juicy and treacherous sounding as ever. Franklin's continued the high, and by this point I was nearly spent. Drums and short space section let everyone catch their breath, another slow build with Lost Sailor/Saint, Sugar Magnolia and Casey Jones allowed us all to cut loose again, followed by Lisa joining the rest of the band and Dino swapping out on drums for a guest drummer on Box of Rain.

So, this night was why I go see these guys. Really beautiful music. 5 hours of insane traffic coming from CT, made it just in time, was nicely surprised by a front row aisle ticket waiting for me at will call, plenty of room down in front, drive to Long Island last night, missed my turn, Lincoln Tunnel, center of Manhattan, another tunnel, finally wound up at my brother in law's around 4am, long day,  😴 😴 😴

Unfortunately there were 2 separate posts for that one so it nullified all your good work ;).  Just kidding about all of this because the southerners went into this northeast tour with very little forum setlist expectation so you guys didn’t disappoint. Keep trying and I bet u guys can get there with only 3-4 missing songs by the next show. Maybe you can get a second that wonton. That’s a fun one.

I will attempt to comply on the next show I go to. I did, however, give the format some thought (after all it was 3am into a mostly sleepless night 😜). I figured anyone interested could read the setlist without having to read my charged up review from standing ten feet from Jeff playing Jerry's guitar all night and melting the place down. Or vice versa. Don't expect much from me on electives. I'm good to remember the date and fillers, that's about it, not much of a note taker.

    Nice Photoshop work!!!

I poked around online for custom badge maker. You could actually have a real one, but they're around a hundred bucks 😱. Just breaking balls, and I too like to see the setlist at the top of the post.

I haven't seen you outright volunteer just yet, but perhaps a little custom hardware will help push you in the right direction.

I wonder what Jeff thought about the feel of playing Wolf, and if using it gave him any palpable sense of mystique. I guess that's a broad question, as it goes to both the feel of how he likes the instrument as well as to more visceral stuff regrading the intensity of playing one of Jerry's most cherished guitars.

I know he doesn't post here, but if he had any specific thoughts he'd consider sharing maybe another band member could ask Jeff if he'd let them share it here?

I was wondering the same thing. I watched Jeff take the guitar off at the end of the night and hand it over to Nick, who removed the strap and placed it into its case. Both guys were treating the guitar with a clear sense of reverence, like the treasured artifact that it is.  Really cool, and I wanted to have as long of a look at that instrument as I could.
